Im thinking about buying the Firefly Series and the Movie but i was just wondering if it really is worth it, I mean dont get me wrong ive been hooked on it just by looking at Pictures of scenes from the Show and reading over Character Bios.

But, I was wanting to get some of the Diehard fans views on it before i made a decision.

Firefly seems to be a good show that i think deserves to get another run at some point, Oh, And im new to these forums and the Firefly Fandom So id just like to say Hi to everyone.

There's no place i cant be since i found serenity, You cant take the sky from me!

Cool, Thanks for the replys i will probably head out to Bestbuy tommorow to get Firefly i atleast want the Series i'll pick up the Movie later on.

Once i watch the Full Series and read up on Serenity i might start writeing a few Fan Ficts, The Firefly Universe seems to be like a Intresting place to write Storys about.

I guess you haven't seen River yet, or you would not be asking that question. :) And don't pick up the movie later, either. Because, well, it also has River in it! Nuf said (don't worry about it; this will all make sense once you see her).

Heck, that was a lousy pitch, wasn't it? lol. But then again, I'm not trying to sell you anything; I'm trying to GIVE you something; namely, a friendly piece of advice, which, when followed, will change your life for ever. Guaranteed.

P.S. Did I come off die-hard enough? :)

Go now, find a 24-hour store, drive to a different time zone, invent a teleporter if you must, just go now and buy Firefly and Serenity.

That die hard enough for ya?

Seriously, though, it's good, so good I would offer a 100% money back guarantee if you're not completely satisfied, but I won't because there's no point since Firefly is just that good.

Happy viewing! And welcome to the forum (and fandom!)

I have watched the series many times and still have the urge to watch it again. Definite replay value.

Also, since the series is quite cheap now adays, you can't go wrong.

So, get it as soon as you get the $.

Consider that it has over 2,000 5-star reviews on amazon.com, that should tell you something!

Firefan06,

I have been a fan of Firefly/Serenity since before the movie came out in September... some folks here have been a fan since 2003 or earlier, when it was being conceived. My point is... I still watch episodes or the movie, every day or so. It was every day, but I'm doing taxes, so I've had to slow down just a little... but I digress..

You will fall in love! I promise! Run, don't walk to the nearest video store and buy both the movie and the series and proceed to watch them as quickly as possible ( you won't be able to stop, I predict, I certainly couldn't when I got it!)and you will see immediately why we are all so crazy about this show. And why we want more!

I have never been a fan of anything like this, barely can stand most tv, and I've never been a member of a forum before. All this from this wonderful tv show.

Welcome to our little ship. I hope you will be as happy here as I am. I sorta hand out browncoats to all the new folks, so it's your turn......

*hands FireFan06 a browncoat*

Watch those DVD's! And enjoy!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I would definitely suggest buying both Firefly & Serenity on DVD. Firefly can be purchased at Wal Mart for $19.86 which is cheaper than I imagine you will get it at Best Buy. Serenity is at Wal Mart too & goes for like $17.99.

If you like the pics you will love watching the show. You can also use the DVDs to introduce the show to family & friends.

Keep flyin' & welcome to the fanbase.

Ya, I would get it from Wal Mart or FYE but those stores closest to where i live dont have them, The only one that has Firefly is Best Buy and it goes for like 40 dollors there but from what ive read its worth it.

So, I guess i'll just get Firefly now if its as good as you guy's say it is it should keep me hooked untill i can get Serenity from FYE, They said they should get it in by Next Tuesday so i will probably get Serenity then.

Well, I got the Series earlier this evening and ive managed to watch through Serenity Part 1 & 2 and most of The Train Job so far Firefly is turning out to be one hell of a show.

Out of all the characters i have to say Wash is my favorite cause he can be Serious when he needs to be, But all in all he's funny comeing in secound would have to be Kaylee she's the one that keeps things in a Lightened Manner.

Kaylee seems to always have a Smile on no matter whats going on, Except for when the Serenity met The Reaver Ship in the Serenity Two Parter. To tell the truth from what Zoe told Simon i dont think id be smileing then either.

River is a cool character aswell, I mean her Character from what ive seen is very Complex i think its that Complexity that makes her Intresting.

So, All in all ive got to give Firefly a score of 100% its truely turning out better then i expected it to be.

After i finish the Series im gonna start up a new Fan Fict, Im thinking of calling it Firefly: Continued Serenity, Id like you guys opinions on the name how do you think it sounds?

...and better and better and better.

Then you watch it a second and third time and ask yourself, "How did I miss THIS part?!?"

Then you watch it a few more times and STILL laugh. And cry. And cringe.

Wait till you hit Objects in Space. Then you'll ask yourself if you can last long enough for Serenity to be in stock.

You'll find you can't.

And since FollowMal's issued your browncoat, we're having Ice Planets just for you! (ref: Serenity, movie)

And that ain't no lie.

Just when you think this is officially the best show ever and that no episode could possibly top the one you just watched...the next one ups the ante even further.

And then there's the movie.

Best. Show. Ever.

I never get tired of them and I always cry.

You know, on one level I kind of envy you. I mean you're gonna be able to go through watching these all for the first time. And The Train Job might possibly be the "least good" of all the episodes--which is hard for me to say, because every single episode, The Train Job included, is simply phenomenal.

My personal favorites are The Message and Out of Gas--one of which is towards the end, the other which is right in the middle. I just did another post somewhere else on how a person's favorite episode will reflect what aspects of Firefly/Serenity they enjoy the most, in aspects of plot, characterization, or general thematic atmosphere.

I predict your favorite is going to be... War Stories. Let me know if I got it right {^^}. KF

Well, After watching through the Series almost non-stop and makeing it to the last Episode ive got to say the 40 Dollors was well worth it.

Although my favorite Episode was Objects In Space, War Stories would come in Second but Objects In Space was my all time favorite.

Now i cant wait to watch Serenity when FYE gets it in stock, I will probably watch through the Series agin sometime later on, Its a Show that gets you hooked no matter how many times you watch it it seems to only get Better and Better.

I was never a Star Trek fan, or rather, i was never a Trekkie. I have all of the Sherlock Holmes books, but didn't start smoking a pipe or wearing a dearstalker hat. I loved the first three Star War movies, but didn't start wearing a jodo outfit to SF cons.
Now there come's along 'Firefly'.
Aw...shoot. Okay, wear do I get a (vaguely Chinese sounding word) browncoat?
Lord help me, I'm actually embaressed at how much _fun_ I'm having watching the show and movie. In my list of best TV shows ever, there is: Twilight Zone, and then Firefly. (closely followed by: West Wing, Babylon Five, and Gilmore Girls)
What the Hell, think I'll make some popcorn and go watch it again.
Later!

Oh well, it was worth a shot. But after mentioning how much you liked Wash, I thought for sure that War Stories would at least end up in your top three, since Wash is so great in that one. Well, he's also great in Jaynestown, and Serenity Pt.1-2.

Objects in Space is a great one, but I actually didn't like it until my third or fourth time watching it. I thought Jubal Early was too silly of a character, and something about him struck me as cliched. Then I watched it a couple more times and he grew on me. Oh, and seeing River manage to orchestrate everything just through the intercoms was well worth it. KF

True, But ive got to change my mind on my favorite Episode as i just built up the Courage to watch this Episode after reading the Description so now ive completly watched Firefly.

The Message is now my favorite Episode as this was a very moveing and powerful Episode, I mean almost all of us can relate to loseing someone dear to us and Zoe and Mal had to go through that two times in a way when Tracey cameback.

Plus, This showed a side of Jayne that he hadnt shown before when the Camera pans over to him he is holding his Cap in his hands and starting to get a Sad sorta Face almost like he is about to cry. I beleve it was that scene that got me the most.

So here's my updated Top Three List.

#1 - The Message
#2 - War Stories
#3 - Objects In Space

Quote:

"You know its funny, We went to the war never looking to comeback but its.....its the real world i couldnt survive....You two carried me through that war now i need you to carry me just a little bit further...If you can." - Tracey to Zoe and Mal (The Message)
