I just got around to reading my copy of the Jan 27 issue of EW this morning and saw the list of the Top 100 grossing movies for 2005. Serenity came in at 95 with $25.5 million domestic, $13.3 million foreign for a total of $38.8 million. It didn't list DVD and rental sales and was between "Elizabethtown" (very heavily promoted) and "Dark Water". It has even grossed more than George Clooney's "Good Night and Good Luck".

I think it bodes well for a sequel when you include the DVD sales and rental. We're still high on the Amazon charts and it looks like my local Walmart has reordered Serentiy at least twice.

You are comparing apples and oranges....

Good night and good luck cost 7 mill....its not even the same sport

Jayne: All those years of preacher training, getting knocked out by one bounty hunter
Book: Oh, dont get me wrong. I gave him a hell of a fight
Jayne: Epic i'm guessing

The list didn't account for costs but just domestic and foreign grosses. I was just pointing out the movies above and below Serenity.

Thanks ncbrowncoat. I did not buy that magazine because Serenity was no longer listed in the top 10 DVD sales. Maybe at some point they will have a list of the top number of DVDs sold in 2005 and 2006 and 2007 etc. Please keep an eye out for us.

Another Serenity souvenir for me to buy. Entertainment Weekly #860 January 20, 2006.
