Something just dawned on me as I had to force myself up from my chair (and this forum) because I needed to eat...

I mused about the possibility of my being so addicted to this show/movie/forum, that I might actually sit here at my computer and starve.

Then I remembered the people of Miranda --

How they all just sat/stood where they were and died.

They must've been watching DVDs of "Serenity", and just couldn't pull themselves away to eat, drink, use the facilities, etc.

This film definitely should have a warning label, or require a prescription to see it, and there should always be a non-fan to help pull you away back to reality if you can't find the strength or willpower to do it yourself.

Well, at least we haven't gotten all aggressive and crazy yet. You know, throwing copies of Serenity and Firefly at people on the street or kidnapping them and forcing them to watch. Yet.

"Of course I'm right. And if I'm not, may we all be horribly crushed from above somehow."

Thank goodness, I was beginning to think there was something the matter with me! Luckily, I found this site to talk to other addicts, and now I realize I am just a victim of the "pax"!

Serenity and Firefly are so painfully addictive because of the secret ingredients JW puts in there. And in just the right amounts. Nine interesting characters with fascinating interpersonal relationships. And of course, the fact that its set in outer space doesn't hurt. Also, lots of basil and oregano.

Who knows what else?

Uh...

Before you get too comfy, probably should'a warned you some.

Once you come in, you're here to stay. Show does that to folks.

Personally, I think they get all mezmerized by all of the shininess.

Or...

could be 'cause Jayne's guardin' the door.

"Well now, ain't this a whole lotta fuss. I didn't know better, might think we were dangerous."

Yeah, well, I certainly wouldn't want to mess with Jayne, especially if he is holding Vera, so I guess I'm stuck here! It definately seems to be a place filled with it's own colorful characters!

There's one little flaw in that plan. Those non-fans have a disturbing tendency to settle down in front of the TV and get just as addicted as us.

But overall, your point is well taken. Over the Christmas holidays, my family talked about having an intervention for me. (This was shortly after Flanvention I, which I flew across the country to attend.)

I *think* they were just joking.

Believe it or not, my 16-year old nephew watched the DVD with me (one of the multiple times I watched it over the first few days), and while he "liked it", by his own admission, he "doesn't think it was great" like I do.

Hard to believe, considering our tastes are very similiar when it comes to sci-fi (and gaming). He's different in just about every other way, though.

I thought for certain he'd become a Browncoat. Still totally baffled by this.

"Looks like a thing to me."

Yea, I am continually introducing Firefly/Serenity to people (I'm up to 10 now! yes!) and have yet to have someone watch and not be hooked. It's so cool! I've got people who I would NEVER expect liking the show coming up and saying lines and stuff to me. I love it. So totally addictive.

I have to say, the Fruity Oaty jingle has some competition now that I've watched the Wonderfalls DVD set.
