KENT

New to the boards, as you might understand. Just figured that I'd introduce myself before I get to postin' anywhere else... there probably won't be all that much postin' though, 'cause from what I've read, you people are insane. ;)

Either way, I'm a Firefly/Serenity fan since maybe two months back, all starting with a friend of mine sending me the link for the trailer to Serenity which, I'm sad to say, was a pretty terrible trailer (Me and my friend were pretty much complaining about the sad state of movies being released nowadays and using the trailer as a conversation starter).
This all changed when I checked up the reviews on rottentomatoes.com though. Over 80% Fresh!
I decided to do a bit more research on the tv-series, and not much later I had the DVD-box in my possession... the rest is history.

I would complain about Fox a bit, but I think we all know where I (and you) stand on the subject.

There... that's pretty much it. I'm eagerly awaiting the results of the DVD-sales... hopefully they're good enough to get a sequel going.

Not insane. Obsessed, maybe. To the verge of insanity, possibly. But not insane. No, not insane... BWA-hahahahah!

Welcome, Kent. Why are you edging away like that? We... won't... hurt... you...

Seriously, though, as you've probably read a dozen times elsewhere, the best hope for a continuation of the franchise is to sell a whole lot of Serenity DVDs. If you're comfortable with it, please introduce your friends and family to Firefly and help spread the word.

Now, you don't have to shave your head, put on a robe, and give away flowers at the airport... unless you want to, that is.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't disagree on any particular point.
Don't wanna hijack this thread, but felt it was a good place as any to introduce myself as well. I have already posted a few times the last couple of weeks. My name is Brad and I am from Iowa City, Iowa.
I was/still a BDF and watched the show (when I could find it) until it was cancelled, and I almost completely forgot about it along with the rest of the shows I liked that ended way before their time. I pretty much got hooked again when the trailer for the movie came out, and Sci-Fi began running the old episodes. I began looking for every single thing I could on the net about the old show and movie and the first place I went to was this website.
I think eveybody here is doing a great job on trying to get this TV show and movie noticed by as many people as possible and that is fantastic. Good luck to us all on trying to get what we all want which is many more movies or TV episodes.
Welcome to the boards Kent.
My position on the topic of crazy, about the Firefly/Serenity 'verse, is more in the realm of a 5 course meal being presented to a starving person. I have been a Sci Fi fan since I first became a teenager back in the '60s. Mostly in print but that is only because there is much more available in that media. When it comes to film and TV there has never been a lot of quality to choose from. Movies based on even the best novels usually are just a faint shadow of the greatness of the original work. Most often such movies are stinkos!! For example, Asimov's Nightfall when rendered as a movie was the worst.
Now along comes Firefly, and we have great writing, great acting, great dialog, great visual effects, great writing, great directing, great writing, great music, and a great story. It's no wonder that we Browncoats want more.
Keep flying, keep fighting, and keep voting for more by helping to make Serenity a finical success with DVD sales etc.
Remember! Serenity's existence is the result of Browncoats Doing the impossible. We are MIGHTY.
In fact I say, "Welcome here, we're weird."
Damn you, but in a good way.
He. And believing I know of what I speak can be a big mistake, though not in this case.
I should probably move on to welcoming as well. Two people to welcome in one thread, impressive.
So, as is my habit, here goes:
Welcome here, we're weird.
Spread the word about the show and the movie, talk to us about anything you like, we always want to hear what's on your mind, and if you've got strawberries, fresh ones I mean, send them my way.
I've already got frozen ones, great for strawberry milk, but nothing beats a fresh strawberry.
Chindi, I just love this place too. You and Chris are always welcoming the new recruits, I think it's great. They definetly get a taste for what this site is about when they read your posts! Haha, I meant that in a good way.
Anywho, welcome the the newbies! Now that you've posted once, it's hard to stop. Eventually you'll probably become just as wierd as the rest of us--which is a good thing, it really is. Stick around and have fun with all of us. We're generally nice--unless you say something mean or insulting first, and in that case you'll be dubbed a Troll. That's neither here nor there, though. Welcome, and we look forward to corrupt*, *ahem*, hearing from you in the near future.
Wacky fun!
