I was 10 when I first read Stephen King's IT, and I fell in love with Beverly Marsh like a flea would fall into a black hole.(I think I still love her, even though I'm 17 now and Bev is a huge slut)

Also, Emma Watson. I love the accent.
And she has good hair. There's nothing wrong with crushes as long as you don't make dolls out of your crush's hair and play with them by candlelight.

I love me a hot dork, and Wes and Angel both fit that bill, even if they were also, y'know, experienced killers, and all. Nathan, Sean, Adam and Alan all seem to fit into that same niche - as do their Firefly characters, from time to time, some more than others. *cough*WashandSimon*cough*

(edited to add: the "hot dork" niche, not the "experience killers" niche.)

Lucky for me my boyfriend's a hot dork, too.

First of all, let's get something clear. As a guy, I don’t have crushes. Men don’t do that, especially real men, like men who shoot guns, reroof their house and ride dirtbikes. Cause I’m a man, and I don’t have crushes. But these are some women I think are really hot.

That being clarified.

I always thought Kate Beckinsale was hot in her black spandex and corset in Underworld.

I also kind of thought Dr. Calvin from I, Robot was hot. I believe she was Bridget Moynahan.

Gillian Anderson from the X-files.

Jeanne Tripplehorn and Lauren Graham are totally hot.

And of course, Kim Possible. There just something about KP. What can I say? At my age I can’t really drool over high school cheer leaders unless they’re animated.

Oh, he's so full of manure, that man! We could lay him in the dirt and grow another one just like him.

Oh, and Scott Patterson, who plays Luke on Gilmore Girls is very "scruffy-real-man" hot.

And who can forget-as someone has already said-the wonder that is our very own Cap'n Tightpants: Nathan Fillion?

(God, I have waaay too many crushes on people! And I haven't even named all of them, how sad is that?)

Paul Bettany, Paul Bettany, Paul Bettany.

Its reaching frightening proportions.

There's a fairly long list of celebs and characters I've entertained crushes on. I'm quite the fangirl. Fell in little girl love for the first time with George Cooper of Tamora Pierce's books at about thirteen and I still revisit that character from time to time. Right now other biggies are Snape and Alan Tudyk.

I would probably have to say the strangest would be Jack White, though. I have no idea what attracts me to that man.

But then my real life taste is a little strange as well.

come off it finn, of course men have crushes...

they just have different names for them, which i'm not going to go into, cause i've just eaten.

I love the term 'hot dork' thats so funny, and yeah, Nathan et al's real life geekiness and sweetness is might appealing.

but down that route lie restraining orders, soo...

Back to characters. this whole 'experienced killer' thing has always troubled me a little, yeah, I admire a man who can look after himself, by whatever means are appropriate, but where is that fine line between 'experienced killer' and 'serial killer'? cause from what I remember, Wes got pretty close to it.

Which kinda put me off him.

That’s proprietary information!

Years ago, when I just a wee Finn, I did have a crush. She was a blonde, beautiful smile, red checkered shirt, but she broke my heart. I woke up every Saturday morning and sat on the brown-ish shag carpet in my batman jammies just to see her. But those days are gone, and I must move on.

Its wierd for me, I hardly ever fall for the "Celeb". Its more like I develop a crush on the characters they portray.

As a 14 yr old, I believe I was somehow crazy about Whitney from the Bodyguard... then with the part played by Renee Zellwegger in Jerry Maguire.

Btw, new fan of Firefly, watched the movie about 1 month ago, and wasnt hooked, but being a sci-fi nut, I saw the reviews on IMDB, and got the TV series. Loved it... didn't want to watch all the parts because I hate knowing that there aren't any more.

KNIBBLET

Okay folks hang on for the ride. "Love" in this post is defined as getting temporarily weak in the knees at the thought of someone and that someone occassionally sneaks into my dreams to make them more interesting.

I loves me three celebrity males and two females and strangely enough some of the characters they play.

Sean Bean -- Mr. Sharpe is a total, absolute hottie. As for SB, I even drooled over him when he played a murdering, raping, violent, wife beater in 'Essex Boys'.

Peter Wingfield -- He came into my life as Methos and I don't care if he's a nasty Goal'd who has murdered thousands, I'd give him a tongue bath in a heartbeat. As for PW, aye carumba! Nose and toes forever, baby. *thud*

Michael Shanks -- Dr. Jackson is a total geek hottie with both and intelligent mind and a smoking hot body to explore. *swoon* Mr. Shanks is the person I visualize as playing the male lead in the movie version of the murder mystery I'm writing.

Peta Wilson -- I'd hide Nikita for Section and I'd even share my extensive collection of boots and shoes with her. My husband knows of my Peta obsession and feeds it by buying me Nikita boxed sets.

Gina Torres -- Zoe is me. There, I said it. I'm obviously crippled emotionally and am in love with myself. As for the gorgeous Ms. Torres ... *squeeee!*

This does not include my appreciation for the beauty of Denzel Washington, Nathan Fillion, Katee Sackhoff, Jonathan Adams and Amanda Tapping
Call for the folks in white coats to come take me away now.

Yea, I have a crazy long list of celebs, and fictional charectors that I have fallen totally and utterly in love with. lol.

Obviously, the first two on my list would be Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk. Duh. I don't really think I need to explain those two.

Johnny Depp and Viggo Mortensen will always have a special place in my heart.

But for odd crushes. I always kinda liked Inigo from the Princess Bride. ???? Don't really know what that was about. Maybe how cool he was with the revenge thing. "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die"
heehee

Oh, and I always think Alan Alda is so very cute in M*A*S*H.

I'm sure there are others I can't think of right now. lol. But my pattern is generally dark haired (few exceptions) with distinctive noses.( I really really really don't know why on that one but they always do?????)

yeah, I'm with Gingerbob, if any one could give us a clue why on earth 'distinctive' (I always just say 'big' or 'wonky' - but distinctive is good) noses seem to be the defining factor then I would love them forever.

Dark haired is a classic though, tall dark and handsome etc etc

By the way, my use of the word love, when i'm not referring directly to family, friends, pets or lovers is generally in the same sense as when I say, 'oh my god I love chocolate'

and crushes are fun distractions, they should be cultivated as a cheap and portable pastime.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean there. Me and my friends continually have this problem of discovering boys who are "gonna be really good looking when they grow up".

As for my more legitimate celeb crushes, there is waaaayyy too many to count. That is, if we're just counting ones that we think are attractive. I'd have to say among recent memory:

Legolas from LOTR
Captain Jack Sparrow from POTC
Johnny from Fantastic 4 (he fills out that suit oh so nicely)

SERENYTY

See, I have a thing for celebrities that are, in real life, kind and sweet. So it's not usually mainstream major stars that are always shown on "Access Hollywood" or in People.

Cartoons:
Tamahome (Fushigi Yugi): he's gorgeous...

Houjo (Inuyasha): You know, the guy? In modern time? Who always gets Kagome medicine? I don't know why, but I like him. I mean, the other guys are all... violent, and Houjo's sweet.

Kenshin (Rurouni Kenshin): I know, he can be violent. But "Oro???" Yeah.

Actual celebrities/Characters:
Jared Padalecki (Gilmore Girls, Supernatural): OK, I hate Supernatural. Gah. Seems like a rip-off of both Scooby-Doo and The X-Files. But when he was on Gilmore Girls? *sigh* (It's my guilty pleasure.)

Fox Mulder (X-Files): I know, I know. I just started to watch it, and it's like, 12 years old now (first season). But you have to admit, he is cute...
But my favorite is...
SEAN MAHER!!! Anyone who knows me knows of my crush on Simon. He's such a sweetie... I think it's because of the fact that I'm very much like Kaylee.

Me, I've always had a thing for Inuyasha. Sorry, I'm a sucker for a tough, solitary, misunderstood bad-ass hero. Actually, that's why I kind of liked Logan from The Roswell Conspiracies, too.( Even more so in the later episodes than the earlier ones, to be honest).
I guess I also had a deep interest in Nikita, from La Femme Nikita- I love how well Peta Wilson plays the character.Occasionally a bit too grim, but with a very strong, reflective personality. Oh, and let's not forget Jessica Alba's character, Max, from Dark Angel. Smart, tough, independant, and cute.

What isn't good is for that attraction to go beyond that -- particularly, as we don't know the people, or much (if anything) about what they're really like.

As such, in my opinion, basing a feeling of anything more than "attraction" onto a person we don't know, is generally a recipe for disaster.

And, it just makes me shudder when someone says they "love" someone they don't know. Granted, they might mean "love" in the general sense, as in a "love for mankind". If they mean what I think they mean, though, it certainly isn't "love" -- which is unconditional, and not based on appearance.

Attracted to strangers? Yeah. I think that's normal. Anything more, though, no. I think it's dangerous.

Good observations.

I have a crush on River Tam, like something fierce. :) But do I love Summer Glau? Not really. I do not know her (yet?). I love River, though. That is different; because River stands for everything I love; her character was specifically designed for me to fall in love with; hook, line, and sinker. ...Sigh... But I digress. :)

That is why I am generally wary of meeting my idols in real life. I mean, I'd be curious to meet Summer Glau, of course. For one, because I'd be able to express my gratitude towards her for what River means to me. But Summer is not River. Snif.

P.S. My crush on River is not random; it's as deliberate as it gets. :)

Sure, I got a crush. More than one. Don't seem like that I tell 'em to you now, do it?

Seriously though, there are a few celebs that I've got crushes on at the moment. It's not right! It's mainly brunettes and blondes.

* Lisa Sheridan: (Larkin Groves from 'Invasion'.)

* Evangeline Lilly from 'Lost'.
[IMG] [/IMG]

* Summer Glau: Although, now it's more about respect for her as an actress than a crush.

* Eliza Dushku: It goes back to Bad Faith/Good Faith on Buffy.

* Kate Beckinsale: That bloody 'Underworld'!

* Laura Pyper: (Ella Dee from UK supernatural drama 'Hex'.) The character is excellent. Kick ass and dedicated to her job. The actress went through all the ranges in S2. Loved her performance and whenever she smiled.
[IMG] [/IMG]
(^ Laura Pyper, second from the left.)

* Charlize Theron. It took me a while to realise I had a crush on her. Lol! But there's something about her that I like. Can't put my finger on it quite yet..

If I were to have a crush on anybody, which I'm not because I'm happily married of course, it would be Sean Connery. I know he's old enough to be my father. But hey. The man still has it.

But as for people I'd be interested to meet, that would be Adam Baldwin. He's a Midwest boy, just a couple of months older than I am, and he is married with three kids, like I am. I'd like to know if we would find stuff to talk about other than "Geez, Adam, you were so cool in Firefly!" - Stuff like, what it's like raising kids in this world today and reminiscing about winters in the Upper Midwest.

I can't believe I'm adding to this but:

As a kid I had big crushes on Mickey Dolenz (from the Monkees, for those of you who don't know) and Bob Crane (Hogan, from Hogan's Heroes. As a kid, for his looks. Later on, I really got a kick out of the character he plays. I love how he manipulates Klink and Schultz!).

Getting older, I had a long-time thing for Harrison Ford. Unfortunately, as I learned more about the person, I found there were just some things I just flat out didn't like and that obsession finally went away.

Other "crushes" I've had include Pierce Brosnan (mostly in his role as Remington Steele. That suave, yet vulnerable character really got to me), Keanu Reeves as Neo (love that coat!), Jon Anderson of Yes, Sean Connery as his older self (the young James Bond thing didn't do it for me), Michael T. Wiess (the Pretender), David Duchovny, and many others.

My weirdest crush? Dwight Schultz (Murdoch from the A-Team) I can only think it's because of his humor.

Current? Well, of course that would include Nathan. I also have a big thing for Joe Elliott from Def Leppard. Actually, I wouldn't turn down any of the guys from Def Leppard as the more I learn about them, the nicer I find them to be!

I could see being (at the very least) really good friends with my current faves...It seems that their personalities and mind would mix really well.

Well, since I am sure everyone has already read everything on here, I think I am safe to post!

Strangest crush? I once had a dream I was married to Emilio Estevez (you know, Charlie Sheen's brother) and for a while I had a crush on him.

Most disturbing crush? If anyone remembers the first Harry Potter movie, and little Scottish kid (Oliver Wood I think is the character name) who was the Griffindor Quiditch captain. I mean, wow, he is going to be SUPER hot someday!

I feel gross saying that, he's like 13!

I have a thing for Scottish men...Ewan McGregor, every man in Braveheart!

Most pathetice? That would be my increasingly alarming crush on Nathan Fillion. Can anyone say obsessed? Sad and pathetic, I know!

You only need to worry if you’re a jr. high teacher.

Truth be told, I thought Emma Watson in the first Harry Potter was adorable. I loved that scene where she raised her hand in class. She was just cute as a button, but man, puberty has been hard on that kid.

I jest. I jest. I’m sure she’ll grow up to be a pretty young woman.

You read my mind. I just got into the X-files like two years ago and am now completely obsessed with it. not to mention that David Duchovny was really hot back then. He's like losing hair now, but that's ok. He still looks pretty good.

I also have to say that I am a Sean Maher gal. He's just so sweet and kind and friendly. I can't help but like him based on his personality, not to mention his incredible looks.

Now, this might be sad, but I have a thing for Orlando Bloom. I'm sorry, but he's just so hot. It's like looking at perfection, excluding Sean Maher.

I also, at some weird point in time, had a thing for Michael J. Fox. Why? I don't know. Maybe it was just because I had seen Back to the Future about six hundred bajillion times in a span of one week.

So, that's it for me. Yes, I'm strange and have weird crushes(excluding Sean Maher) on people. So there. That's it. Stop reading this. Go do something else, like watch Firefly. Oooh! Sean Maher in Objects in Space without his shirt on!*Drools*

AUNTYCHRIS

I know this is going to "age" me, but I've had a "thing" for Geoff Pierson for years now. "Geoff who???" you say. he first appeared on my radar when he was on "Unhappily Married" with Stephanie Hodges (with Bobcat Goldthwaite doing the voice of a stuffed bunny). Then he played Brett Butler's ex-husband on "Grace Under Fire", and the Father on the very short-lived "That 80's Show" (does ANYONE remember that one?). Most recently he's been on "Rodney" as his wayward Father. I suppose my fascination for him has to do with his resemblence to a guy I work with that I wanted to have an affair with, but that didn't work out. But I still have the hots for Geoff (excuse me while I check the TV guide for the next showing of "Rodney").

Very cool.

Yeah, I've only just started watching "The X-Files." So I don't know how he looks now. But whatever, man.

I get crushes on weird people. But not as weird as my friend, who has this huge thing for Viggo Mortenson. And she's in High School, like me. Now, I agree that he's pretty good looking in LotR, but seriously. He's in his late 40s. He's as old as her dad. Jeez, his SON is older than she is.

This can easily justify the thing I have for Sean Maher. I mean, he's 30. Compared to Viggo, he's young!

Have you signed the list that people are giving Sean? The list of his fans, or whatever? It seems to be going well, there's already 300 something names.

I had a dream once where I married Phil Collins of Genesis! It was a really strange dream. I remember being really really happy (which was weird because, while I like his music, I never really was attracted to the guy...) Friends of mine (who aren't any longer) abducted him and drove away with him.

Seems like a psychic dream now that I think about it! These two friends betrayed me in a big way (and it was about a guy, but long after I had this dream) and I've not been friends with them since.

Dear heaven, if Sean Connery showed up on my doorstep tomorrow, do you think I would turn him away???????

It's just a crush, after all.

This has got to be one of the most enjoyable posts I have read. I have been laughing my butt off at all the crushes. Velma from Scooby Doo? Really? Now, being a woman, I can kind of see the attraction to Simon Cowell. I think it must be the accent, because otherwise he is a big pig. To some folks a British accent or any accent can sound cool.
As for me, my crush is Mal. What can I say? I find him totally sexy and very adorable.

I've always enjoyed listening to (and looking at) Andy Partridge of XTC (British proto-punk-pop band). He's very smart and very funny. Snappy dresser, too.

Joss Whedon cracks me up. I think he's very attractive and engaging. So I guess I like the smart guys.

I really empathized with Mal's character, which makes me develop a crush, but when I learned more about Nathan Fillion and realized how intelligent he was, I got kindof a crush on himself as well.

I prefer having a crush on the character, though.

Odd aside: my first crush on a character was Marshal Jim Crown in the 1967 TV western "Cimarron Strip". I was all of five years old. I probably liked him because he had a horse . . .

Perhaps I have a crush on Mal because he has his ship Serenity. Ha! The things you learn about yourself writing these posts . . .

ok. here's the deal.
i have this raging, deeply hormonal crush on Tony Curran. uh, he's Markus in the Underworld sequel. normally, i don't fancy the redheads, (not that there's anything wrong with them, regardless of what south park says, i just have a lot of fiery-haired relatives.)
for some reason, tony curran just does something for me. i'm fascinated. he's really got a nice body though. maybe that has something to do with it. oh, and the accent. cannot resist the accent. any kind of British Isles-type accent is my kryptonite. especially irish of scottish. they're double kryptonite.
well... i also had this dream...

I have a few legitimate crushes, but the one that just won't go away no matter how unreasonable it seems now is Justine Bateman from Family Ties. I loved that show as a kid but I've never been able to shake my crush on her. Gillian Anderson came and went, as did many others, but Justine just won't leave. Always in the back of my mind she is....

Veto! Veto! I say. It has to be River! (aka Summer Glau). It just has to. With River not in first place, the 'verse would start to collapse in on itself, or something to that effect. O God, I don't know what I'm saying, I never know what I'm saying. Anyway, I just blatantly managed to sqeeze River's name in it again, and that is always good, I guess. :)
