Dear fans of firefly,
I have recently acquired a copy of the Firefly season 1 DVD box set and was blown away by it from the word go. No shock there but what did shock me was to find out upon further inspection of the internet on this subject that there will be no more firefly. Now this will simply not do.
Now I was a fan of the film first, went to see it when it came out and loved it also but when I came across the box set of the series well lets just say I had a second happy new year.
Now I not a long and devoted fans as some people but to just start to get into a show to be told their you go no hop it, to be teased with 14 episodes and let mid climax well I don’t like it. So to come to my conclusion to this small but need to be said rant I vote to start a partition or rally it you will to get the show back on and hopefully stir up enough dust to be noticed.
So I propose that anyone wanting this show back on air either post their name or email it to duke_lionstt@hotmail.com, once I feel we have enough names then I will email fox, sci-fi and universal detailing the results of this partition, then maybe we will get a response of some kind but in the mean time go out and buy the DVD of the series and the film cause if the sales get enough then like what happened with family guy they will make another season.

Thanx Gav

Welcome to the fandom! Glad to hear from folk who were converted by our BDM. Hate to say it, but these petitions have been circulating for sometime now, to no effect. In addition, Joss is pretty committed to continuing the 'verse in movie form. IIRC, he has actually said that there will be no more Firefly TV. It's floating around the boards somewhere.

Family guy and the possibly resurected Futurama do not need actors (other than voice work). No wardrobes, no sets, no CGI. All the artwork is done in another country by low paid workers. It's a big win for the network.

You have my vote, and my name if it will help, but not my confidence. I think you'll fail. That said I'm glad you're trying and sincerely hope I am wrong.

What has been discussed as possible, and I personally think may be looking into, is a straight to DVD series. If you're taking names anyway it might be a good idea to find out who is interested and how much they would pay per episode or per season. Information like that could be useful. Or not, assume I know nothing.

He also said "i wont give up, i refuse to give up" But now he is saying he is giving up? I wouldnt put to much stock into what he says.

And if he doesnt, someone else will in the future.

Jayne: All those years of preacher training, getting knocked out by one bounty hunter
Book: Oh, dont get me wrong. I gave him a hell of a fight
Jayne: Epic i'm guessing

Obviously you missed this part of my original quote:

That doesn't mean he's given up. It means there's not going to be more TV, because he wants to make more movies.

And I for one shudder to think what Firefly would be like under the direction of anyone but Joss.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site Dukelion. Glad to have you here.

I appreciate your enthusiasm & your frustration about Firefly & your desire to get it back on tv. Trust me when I tell you that everyone here knows just how you feel. Some of us have been here & dealing with that same frustration since 2002. We have signed petitions, sent emails, postcards, you name it. None of it helped keep Firefly on the air.

Now that is not to say that our efforts were wasted. We may not have gotten Firefly back on tv, but we did get the DVD set, the movie, trading cards, action figures, the Visual Companion, the movie novelization, comics, an RPG, a ton of fan made merchandise (some of which is carried at Hot Topic stores now!) & now we have a couple of novels in the works for the near future. There is also talk of more comics so our future is looking a might better than it was back in the winter of '02.

The best thing we can do for the future of Firefly/Serenity is to insure that the DVD for the film sells as well as it can. We need to get the word out to all those that have not seen the movie or series & get them to rent or buy the DVD for the movie (& hopefully the series too since Wal Mart now has it for $19.86) to drive up the sales & expand the fanbase. The more people we have that consider themselves fans the better. We have been growing again since the movie came out, but we need to keep growing to get a sequel.

thanx for your replies and thots. I am well aware that people hav been at this for a wile but that is no coz to stop, I may be new but if you keep at it some will notice either through interest or annoyance. For example in the film Shawshank Redemption, Andy sent a latter a day till the eventually sent him something, then he did it again till he got the response he wanted. Now that as I said was a film and fictional but still makes a point that if you pester someone enough they will give in.

Now I am also running for governor/ priminister so your vot… just kidding. In response to some posts yes I do know John said there will be no more series and he wanted to make movies and I’m all up for that, mon the movies but that doesn’t mean after he scratched that itch that he wont start again if the there is a demand for it that’s where DVD’s come it.
Now to clear something up that someone posted I know the difference between family guy and firefly in terms of physics but the circumstances are the same in that after three season of family guy they cancelled the show, firefly they cancelled it after one but after the sale of the family guy DVD’s steadily rose into a peak they realised that there is more money to be made from this and proceeded to make a film and another season so hopefully if people by the firefly DVD and Serenity and not down load it then maybe John will see the need to make another series or may be just more film with wont be a bad thing.

Ah I glad I got that of my chest, well I said wat I needed to say in reply to all you kind folk that took the time to read my boring spiel and I thank you. Just keep the faith and spread the word send more emails, letter etc and tell people to buy the stuff and not download it as some people, almost guilty, tempted to do.

Fellow fan Gav
