Alan Tudyk and Summer Glau will be at this event, which take place Jan 27-29 in Orlando, FL.

Do any Browncoats have a booth at this event? I'm unable to attend the event myself and I'd like to send some flyers advertising the Whedonverse Multimedia Project down there in the safe hands of some fellow fans.

Contact me if you can help:

Thanks!

I didn't realize that there was that much over there.

I went to a Gator Gathering at the Expo Center last summer. They managed to get a thousand people or so in to see Urban Meyer in building 2 on that map listed and there was plenty of space to spare.

It's really not the nicest of facilities. It's inside and airconditioned, but it looks very unfished inside... are they trying to compete with MegaCon or what?

Impressive lineup, though.

Oh darn. I'm going to Orlando next week. Too soon for the convention. Maybe next time I can make it.

YES!

And only because Summer Glau and Alan Tudyk are appearing there. It's about an hour's drive from where we live and we are soooo excited.

Megacon-shmegacon--have Summer (or Alan) and we'll be there.

Hey Light,

Back in the day-autographs AND pictures were once free.

Then along came Ebay.

For us, $30 is well spent only because we will only be buying one autograph per person, and it will be personalized to one of us--we don't intend on ever selling this. It's memorabilia that we will pass on to our kids (who will be present) and their kids. We enjoy the "stars"-it isn't a business for us.

If you've never been to a con before my suggestions are as follows:
1)arrive early
2)get a program and chose who/what you want to see and get tickets if needed
3)bring a camera
4)bring cash (LOTS)
5)dress comfortably
6)be prepared to wait in LONG LINES...like at Disney, but without the Fast Passes
7)have FUN!

I'll be going with a few local friends just for Saturday. My goal is to get the autographs and then the only one I won't have is Sean's. I got all the previous ones for "free" but that's because I flew out to LA for the Comiccon (close to where they all live and work). With travel costs, that means I probably paid about $50 for each one...

I didn't see mention of $30 per autograph. I know they were $20 at Dragoncon. Maybe this event is collecting more to make their event more attractive to the stars - they've got to pay their travel costs, too!

Also, I DID see mention on the site that they would be setting up a "virtual line" so it actually is like a fast-pass system. We'll see how that works...

You are right about this con having a "FP" type of line--but not all cons have them, and even when they do, you still have to do some waiting. (but not as much)

And don't forget you have to sometimes wait in line for food and using the bathroom.

We're going Saturday and possibly Sunday.

Usually people charge for autographs because conventions aren't always able to pay for much of anything so they have to recoup their losses for the appearance. (I have a friend who is a comic artist and does several conventions a year, and charges for sketches because when he does the cons he pays for everything, unless he's a Featured Guest or Guest of Honor, then he's paid by the convention and so does the sketches for free)

I'm really happy about this since the New York Con got scheduled at the same time as MegaCon, so us Floridians got the short end of the stick as far as guests. This show has several good ones.

Although, to be fair, MegaCon does have panels dedicated to the Joss and his projects. I never did find an FX panel schedule. Guess I'll be surprised!
