I've created a 3d model of the wonderful Serenity and I am looking to get permission to sell it on my web site.

I didn't know where else to ask.

Here's hoping...

It's an exterior model. I don't think I'll get much of a response from Fox or Universal, do you? You think they'd sue if I posted it without permission?

Do you think Joss looks at this site? Does anyone have access to him and could maybe ask?

i think its very plausible. making money off something they own. i guess if you sold it, and didnt make too much money off it, fox might tell you to knock it off, but if you make alot of money real qiuck they would probobly take action.

you could always just give it out, or sell a CD with that on it and claim the 18 dollars are for shipping and costs for the CDs.

Not sure you can sell it without inviting legal action. There's also a number of 3D Meshes out all ready for free, I'm sure everyones heard of Treybors mesh, and my own will be ready for release soon, both are free. I'm not sure people would be willing to pay for a model if they can get one for free.

Treybor's also in the middle of making a new one, upgraded to the movie version, and he's posting the progress as a LightWave tutorial as he goes. In the end that mesh will also be freely available.

I can guarantee selling such a mesh will be illegal without explicit contractual arrangements with Fox, Universal and/or Zoic Studios.

Yeah, Treybor sent me in the direction of that thread as I was having a few problems with texturing my own model, the threads great.

Yep, 'tis awesome. I'll be building my own, after I've finished the other projects I still have active. It'll be fun.

can i get a link to those?

and to your knolage do you know if anyone is working on a full 3D model of the ship, including the inside of the ship?

i wonder if people here have enough time to make skins for something like CS:S and make a model of the ship, then create a Red Vs Blue style online cartoon for Serenity.

that seems to be the popular things these days, make cartoons out of video games...

3D-PALACE.COM is selling a tutorial for 3DS MAX that is, in fact, a Firefly class transport. I don't think they have any permission or license to do so.

They have "covered their posterior" by naming it Stormbringer, not Serenity.

I have a copy of the tut DVD, but haven't had a chance to start playing with it.

I have noticed that this model has some inaccuracies.

Treybors model is more accurate and his tutorial has been great.
