Hey, if they can bring back Family Guy and Futurama, there's a small, although highly unlikely, chance for bringing back Firefly. We can only hope!

I though they was aiming for a second movie?

Inara: Honestly, Mal, if we can't be civilized and talk like --
Mal: I'm plenty civilized. You're using wiles on me.
Inara: I'm using what?
Mal: Your feminine wiles. Your companion training, your some-might-say uncanny ability to make a man sweaty and/or compliant, of which I have had just about enough today.

Except I'm pretty sure Joss has implied that he doesn't want to make any more "Firefly". Rather he wants to make more movies.

Good news about Futurama though, been hearing stuff like that for about 8 months though so I'd love to hear a definite "YES!" from Groening or Cohen.

Ah yes, I guess you guys are right. Another movie would make more sense, and according to Joss's own words, it seems as though that's the path our BDHs are headed towards.

I really wish we could have 5 more seasons of Firefly though. Oh well!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Well, as Joss contract w/ Fox is done, and considering how Fox completely mishandled Firefly to begin with, I am not so sure that our girl will fly on that much loathed network again.

Good news for Futurama, though I think they would be better off getting Fox to sell the rights to Cartoon Network and letting the people over there take care of it.

I'm not sure how much of an impact this will have on Firefly but this is great news for me. I love Futurama, I watch it every night on Cartoon Network.

Let's not forget one fundamental thing here... in Hollywood (as most everywhere in the 'verse) Money Talks. If Fox REALLY wants Firefly back on the aire all they have to do is keep laying cash on the table until Joss blinks. That, and provide some guarantees this time around that the show would be financed through an entire season or more plus dozens of other contractual obligations that Joss would insist on.

Here's a thought, maybe we can get both the TV show AND the movie sequels for our efforts. I can dream can't I?

Many people have already mentioned that Joss has said he will never work for Fox again (and who can blame him?) so let me bring up a second point:

Family Guy and Futurama are cartoons. That means there are no sets to rebuild first of all. Secondly, it takes a lot less of a time commitment from an actor's point of view to do cartoons. It doesn't really matter all that much what the actors are doing now, it doesn't take that long to record voice parts. And I'm not sure, but they can probably be recorded in any part of the country. Our BDH's have all moved on in their careers and it would be extremely difficult to get them all together again to do another series.

I'm glad Fox is finally relizing some of their mistakes and working to fix them (even if they are just doing it for the money).

Unfortunately, that's not gonna happen for many reasons.
Chief among them being the fact that it's much cheaper to bring back an animated show.
Not only to they not have to pay for a physical production from actors to stage crew and all of the peripherals involved, the animation is done overseas.

I hope they go through with this - Leela was one of my all-time favorite SF characters. Isn't it great how two excellent SF shows were based on the concept of a glorified delivery service?
