CONSEQUENCE

Hello everyone,

I don't know really where to start. All I know is that Firefly puts a smile on my face

I remember seeing the commercials for Serenity and thought it looked interesting.... Was I in for a suprise!

My brother in law went and bought the dvd shortly after it came out. I have to say, I'm not big on sci-fi movies but this movie is top shelf (the bloopers were even great... TRAP!!!!)

After doing a little research on my new favorite movie I soon realized that this was based off a t.v. show... and to my suprise it had the same cast.

I ordered the complete series DVD and recieved it yesterday. I've fallen in love with it all over again.

I just got finished with the 5th episode. It's 6:30 am here and I have to go to work in 4 1/2 hours! I've spent all night watching firefly and I'm forcing myself to go to sleep!

I'm glad I found a place to share my new found passion. I hope to one day be considered a part of the crew.

Thanks for reading my long ass post... I just felt I had so much to get off my chest.

Time to sleep now....

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site & to the family Consequence. We're glad to have you here w/ us and thanks for sharing your story w/ us.

There sure seems to be an acre of new browncoats popping up here lately & that puts a big smile on my face.

Now of course you know you have to get out there and share the joy you have found in Firefly/Serenity with everyone that you can. Friends, family, co-workers, whoever, we need to make people aware of the series DVD & get them to watch & pick up the movie DVD. The more DVDs that sell, the better our odds of getting a sequel.

Welcome indeed.

Don't worry about watching the episodes "too fast". If you're like most of us, you'll be watching them over and over again anyway. With or without the commentary. With or without the subtitles.

Hope you don't have too tough a day at work, what with the not sleeping and all.

Not a new Firefly fan, but a new fan to this site, and I'm very glad to be here.

After watching the Serentiy DVD last week, I really wanted to buy some Serentiy t-shirts, and after doig a quick online search, stumbled across FireflyFans.net. Didn't find the shirts that I was looking for, but found what appears to be a great place to hang out and talk about one of the greatest shows ever, and one of the most creative people in Hollywood, Joss Whedon.

Check out Hot Topic stores near you. They are carrying three different shirts that are Serenity inspired.

Also check out this site:

Alex who runs the site is a fellow fan & a great guy.

There is also a ton of fan run sites offering up all sorts of Firefly & Serenity merchandise. Others are sure to post links in this thread.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, Consequence and Alterego!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - these new fan threads are my favorite. Nothing better than a new recruit (or an old recruit who just discovered our little home here )

This is a great site, with great, enthusiastic people (who keep up my spirits on a daily basis with hopes for a sequel). Hope to see you both around here quite a bit.

My oh my!!! I know exactly how you feel or what you're going through. The first time I got my hands on my sister's copy of Firefly... I couldn't stop watching it or get myself to sleep until about 4 hours before I had to go to work. Hahaha!!! Don't get me wrong.. I'm not complaining here. It was worth it. Of course I had to consume more caffeine than usual at work but like I said... I wouldn't have it any other way. Besides... Sleepiness is a sign of weak character hehehe!!! I hope I have the right quote... smile.
Hope you have a smooth day at work though. I already know that you will tell your buddies and coworkers about the best kept secret in TV/Widescreen and soon... they too will be one of us. As for me... I will do just that in about 12 hours or so. My weekend is over and I must say that it's a little strange but I'm looking forward to going to work ...just to be able to share this wonderful gift we have. The more the merrier!
I'm a fresh recruit myself and as you can see... this is a great place for people like us. A warm welcome you shall receive... At home you will feel. There's no other place like this. Again.... Welcome.

CARTOON

The addiction is spreading.

Is there a support group?

Shouldn't "Firefly" and "Serenity" clearly be labeled as ADDICTIVE!!!???

At the very least, they shouldn't be viewed without a prescription, and a team of trained withdrawal professionals standing by to assist us.

Now, if only the execs at Fox (or Universal Pictures) become addicted. That would be sweet.

(Maybe they know the cure, and have used it on themselves.)

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

I couldn't help myself. I just got finished with the rest of the season. It's 6:30am again and well, I feel a little heartbroken.

I thought by the end of the series that I would feel the same joy that I felt after I saw the movie. But instead, It puts me in great pain to know that Firefly is no more...

It's a strange feeling to have your emotions change so drastically in such a short period of time.

I actually feel lucky to have stumbled accross such a beautiful thing.

I enjoyed every episode (some more then others) and I will prolly end up watching them more times then healthy.

I suppose the only thing I can do now is to reccomend it to all my friends and family!

I truely hope to see Firefly rise from the ashes like a phoenix. And I hope more people like ourselves can learn to appreciate it.

Joss Whedon, You have created a masterpiece.

Thank You.

welcome, and now you are in the same boat as we are. i felt the exact same way (except i was a fan before the movie, so it was slightly different). it feels so bad to know that Firefly is no more, but like i've said many times, i'm much happier having known and loved it. sometimes i wish i hadn't since i crave more, but i'm glad i'm here with the rest of the Browncoats. like you said, spread the word about Serenity and Firefly. it is infectious. so far everyone i've introduced to it loves it. something this good needs to be shared. and while some may say it is impossible, it is also what we need to do if we have any hope of seeing more from our beloved crew and 'verse. the more fans, the better. after all, we are mighty.

Welcome, Consequence!

Isn't it the most amazing feeling?! I actually was in tears when I got done and realized what I had found, how much I was in love and that there wouldn't be anymore. I sat stunned for awhile.

But we have this shiny place! And I'm so proud to be a Browncoat!

It IS like a virus and will spread if you share with family and friends ( and strangers and co-workers ). That will make new fans who will be in love and demand more right along with us.

I think that is our path forward... it makes me feel better anyway. That and watching the movie and show over and over.

You know I'm still doing that all these weeks later... I watch the movie or an ep everyday. I've never done that before in my life with a show or movie. Speaks to the power of Joss' writing and our crews acting. It's good to be in love!

I know excactly how you feel. I was in your situation.

But, now that you've seen em all. Which ones did you like best?

Jayne: All those years of preacher training, getting knocked out by one bounty hunter
Book: Oh, dont get me wrong. I gave him a hell of a fight
Jayne: Epic i'm guessing

CONSEQUENCE

My Top Three Episodes would go like this.

1. Objects in Space (I Loved This Episode!)
2. Out of Gas
3. Serenity
(Honorable Mention: Bushwacked)

Although I enjoyed almost all of them... I only found one episode that I didn't feel fit in with the series. That episode was "Heart of Gold".

I found the part where Pedaline shot Rance while holding their baby in her arms was almost as disturbing as Rance making the girl perform favors for him on the balcony in front of the town.

I just felt that this episode went the wrong direction as the others. Maybe a bit too vulgar for my likings.

I'm sure over time I'll start to like more episodes over others but I think my top 3 is set in stone.

I'm real greatful for a place like this. I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to about firefly that understands where I'm comming from.

I've already reccomended Firefly and Serenity to some friends and co-workers. I almost think I talk too much about it lol, But that won't stop me from spreading the word.

But anyways... I've been lacking sleep over the past couple days... I'm glad I don't have to work tomorrow!

Time for rest.

I understand what you meen. But i still liked it alot. Basicly because it has so many good moments, as oposed to the rahter iffy ones.

Moments like;

Zoe talking with Wash about having a baby.

Jayne being "romantic" with guns. "these are my favorites. You gonna keep em coming until there aint no more to handed. I shoot, i run out. You hand me the next biggest piece and so on. Is there an understanding here?" I laughed my ass of first time i heard him say this :)

Inara crying....Say no more.

All the moments with shepherd book in this episode. " i'll see what i can do about our....fortifications".

Other then that i basicly have the same list as you do.

1. Objects in space
2. Out of Gas
3. War Stories
4. Serentity

:)

Edit: About bushwacked. I simply love the whole scene when jayne is cutting down the corpses, book is saying his words and Kaylee is trying to override that thing. The music, editing, everything is just so good. Espesially the music.

Jayne: All those years of preacher training, getting knocked out by one bounty hunter
Book: Oh, dont get me wrong. I gave him a hell of a fight
Jayne: Epic i'm guessing

Thanks, Chindi. I reckon this'll hafta' do.

While I tried to get others to go see the film with me back on September 30th, none of them were interested. I did get my nephew to watch the DVD in December, but like many of you, I have no one else with which I may converse on this subject (aside from those of you in this forum, of course).

And I also agree with Consequence, that "Heart of Gold" was my least favorite episode, for the same reasons. As a matter-of-fact, that whole "companion" business was what kept me from initially watching the show when it debuted in 2002. I still wish it wasn't part of the show as whole, and in my opinion, casts a shadow on what would otherwise be one of the best shows I've ever seen.

My favorite episode for humor would be "Jaynestown". My favorite episode for drama would be "Ariel" (with "Out of Gas" a close second). While every episode has great humor in it, some are richer in it than others. (Every episode has made me laugh aloud more than once.)

Enjoyed watching the marathon on Sci-Fi today -- at least those episodes I could see when I wasn't working.

But, as I'm sure you'll all agree, your favorite things are made more enjoyable when you have others with which to share them. That's why I enjoy this group.
