Hey guys,

Like many of you I'm sure, I've had that fruity oaty bar commercial jingle stuck in my head. I've found that the best way to deal with that is to embrace it. Thanks to Joss, it was included on the Serenity DVD as an easter egg, so I extracted it and posted just the commercial. It is pretty trippy to watch.. we've had a few laughs over it.

Anyways, I hope someone can find this useful. If not, annoy your friends out with it :P

Oh man. My co-workers are going to HATE me by the end of the day. I am making all of them watch it over and over again. It will be like that scene in A Clockwork Orange.

Where's the easter egg? I haven't had a lot of time to play around with the DVD yet.

ETA- Never mind. I should've looked at your link first.

There's a short hidden interview with Joss about the Fruity Oaty Bar commercial, then followed by the commercial in its entirity. It is accessible by highlighting the Play button on the Serenity DVD menu, then pressing left. It will highlight a pie shaped piece on the right side of the screen, press enter on that.

But... but... Why does the AVI not have any sound? And the bit torrent links to something titled "Mal_live.mp3" - is that on purpose? (It's going to be a while before my download finishes...)

Am I doing something wrong?

Y'know those legendary Japanese fighting-robot shows that cause people to have seizures or their heads to explode . . .yeah.

This is so shiny, thanks!

SHINY! I had never even noticed that. That's an awesome little bonus. Is there any other hidden material on the DVD? Is there a way to hilight the other pie shapped thing?

-Dan

Ain't that just shiny?

Okay, I figured out how to get bit torrent to get the right file (stupid mistake on my part ), but when I try, it fails, just stopping as though there's nothing there. (I'm on a cable modem, so it shouldn't be an issue.)

I still can't figure out how to get the posted AVI to play the audio.

Anyone able to help?

(Thanks for posting this, though - I'm really looking forward to getting it! )

My best advice is to install the K-Lite codec pack, it's available free at http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

Video is compressed with DivX (or XviD.. i can't rememer which I chose) and the audio is AC3 I belive. Anyways, the K-Lite pack will give you everything you need to view this.

Thanks aerofan897! Or, given how addictive that little tune is, maybe not-so-much. ::wink::

Have you considered re-encoding the video to something a bit more generic, like Quicktime or MPEG-1 or MPEG-2?

More importantly, would you kindly add the file sizes on that page?

For other bandwidth impaired folks, the MP3 is an easy-on-the-modem 509,910 bytes.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I did post the file sizes now. I have encoded it with XviD because it gives high video quality + small file size (4.8 mb). Other compression would have made it quite a bit larger. Give the codec pack a try, and I can redo it if necessary. Good luck!
