Howdy all! I jsut joined ff.net after many a month spent as a long time lurking browncoat. Knowing that there is a place where, without a doubt, some of the most dedicated and fun loving fans can come together and just be well...Browncoats is very comforting.

I watched bits and pieces of the initial run of Firefly on Fox, (I curse you execs. and all your descendents.) but I was only about 12 at the time and much of the subtle Joss-isms went over my head. Now, at 16, I rediscovered Firefly and then Serenity thanks to a dear friend who got me the DVD set of the show and watched it all with me over a holiday weekend.

Now, I've gone and gotten all mushy and shit but gorramit I'm glad i found this place since it seems like the rest of the world doesn't care much for Firefly, Serenity and good sci-fi (none of that processed and packageed new Staw Wars trilogy shit) for that matter.

Welcome! You'll find plenty of emotional support here -- we're all right there with ya. Better yet, you'll find lots of people who have been working tirelessly to bring back Firefly in some form. That's why there is such a thing as Serenity, our Big Damn Movie. Keep spreading the word, Private!

It's a bit sobering to realize that someone could "grow up" from 12 to 16 since Firefly debuted. For us old fogies it doesn't seem all that long, but it's a quarter lifetime for some Browncoats.

Heck, I live in San Diego with close ties to the Universal facilities (thank you sorta high up Aunt!) and I've been trying butt hard to get more of the BDH since the BDM did pretty well....maybe we'll get lucky again.

I have to say I too am most impressed with your "growth" while immersed in the 'verse.. that is pretty cool... glad too that you feel comfortable surrounded by all us...uhm.. more "seasoned" folks.. (mine is garlic, but that's another thread)

I've been working on my Aunt for some time. She's in marketing and that's jsut the thing we need to get the boat flying again. She's been stubborn about it but told me she really liked Serenity so I think I'm getting through to her.

I'm very very new to the 'verse (as in, just this month), but I'm already hooked (and have hooked a few friends as well). I think it's amazing that there is such broad support here on the web! I hope that the 'verse stays alive, and I'd love to do my part to keep it going.

I'm a lurker who finally decided to sign up too. I wound up renting the series shortly after the film came out (for some gorram reason, it never made it to my town) and I was so hooked it's ridiculous. I've spread the word to as many folks as possible, converted a dozen or so, and am currently the connection for the comics (only one impatient enough to order individual issues instead of waiting on the collection) and am eagerly awaiting my RPG book.

Life's just better when you're a browncoat. Everything's just so, well, shiny.

You know it really really amazes me... how the new recruits keep straggling in...(happily!)

I mean HOW can ANYONE DOUBT the future of the 'verse when the original browncoats held on for 3 years and more ppl are coming in every single day!!!
