Last weekend I attended the Posting Board Party, an event for members of the Buffy posting board "The Bronze" which was at the old WB Buffy site and has since been fragmented. As it's a charity event, lots of folks who work on the show, from make-up artists to actors, were there. So was Joss.
I talked to him about Firefly: Immediate Assistance, and said that people were writing 20th Century Fox asking for DVDs and merchandise.

He said hopefully I'll have reason to start the F:IA machine going again, and that he wasn't talking about DVDs.

What does this mean?

Well, we know that the show isn't going to be on the air, from Nathan Fillion's contract with ABC and quotes from Gina Torres at Sci Fi Wire. We also know that Mutant Enemy has not put the show out to pasture, from Joss's statement to me and quotes from Gina Torres saying that "things are cooking."

I don't know what this means. It could be any number of things. What it does mean, is that Firefly is gone from the airwaves but not forgotten.

Dear diary, Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy,
Today we where kidnapped my hill folk never to be seen again, it was the best day ever.

god, I wish he'd get over himself and tell us what his evil little mind is plotting. I'm thinking a couple nice "taken" sized mini series.

Keep Flying!

Thank you. It occured to me, but I'm just lazy.

What keeps going through my head is "Oh my god. What could it be? We're all doomed?!"

Evil genius stuff.

Shutting up now.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I think that Kiba's news is good news indeed. So she got it straight from the horse's mouth that there may be reason to fire up her site again. I think is it truly good news and can only be interpreted as Joss has something big in the works.

This is very exciting!

I was thinking on this and thought maybe Joss would do like what the Star Trek: Next Generation people did...The show is long gone but they're into at least their 2nd or 3rd movie. Maybe Joss and ME can test the waters with a TV mini-series or TV movie and move on to a theater release? Gina Torres is in the new Matrix movies so, possibly, her name could draw movie goers who aren't already fans of the show.

Thoughts,

Not sure if Joss will folow the path that ST:TNG took, as Joss seems to march to the beat of his own drum.

I think he is working on a made for TV movie or perhaps a mini series to see if the show can pull the ratings it needs to get onto a network.

I'm a bit worried about a movie. Most TV shows that took to the big screen just don't seem to be as good. something about having to take a 45 min show and stretch it a good half hour just doesn't do them justice.

You never know though, Joss is good at what he does.

Personally, I am hoping for the series on another channel or a few miniseries. I think that would work better, and be cheaper for me to watch ;)

How about this scenario:

"FIREFLY: the legendary TV series, squashed by Fox and stupidly cancelled before it's time, that seeded the dream tenderly kindled by loyal fans, which was recussitated by Joss as the breakthrough mini-series, which raised the Firefly flag in the public's collective mind, which in turn launched the box-office-smash movie, that launched the TV series...that we all know and love."

Why not?

In Whedon's world, anything can happen...if you believe!
