Just passin' it along for y'all...

Hello all! Hope your winter/spring has been as productive and busy as mine. I've had my nose to the grindstone looking for work. Been hanging with castmembers and remembering the "good times" as we like to call them. We are all still waiting to hear Joss' news about Firefly. He has been hard at work and keeping us all updated, it looks as though something is close! I can't wait to get those tightpants on again. I've had a little time on my hands, been able to go hiking much more than i used to during crazy Firefly hours. Visited the Fox lot yesterday to see that they have dismantled the ship. Not to worry, I'm told it can be put together in a jiffy, and the crew is anxious to do just that. Meantime, I'm auditioning like crazy, praying for a job I can love as much as Firefly. FAT CHANCE!
I haven't been lurking for some time< so I'm not up on all the news, but just to dispel rumours, I DO have a computer, I DON'T have internet. So long, all.
Nathan "Captain Tightpants" Fillion

Early: You ever been raped, Kaylee?
Kaylee: You know, it's funny you should mention that... ever heard of the Fox network?

Isn't this just the most exciting news? You should check out that thread over at the official Fox site. It's called "Captain on Deck" under the Cast section (I think). Anyway, Adam even put in a few words under the same thread. I'm just so happy, I have to spread the word.

This sounds quite promising. I have faith that Nathan Fillion wouldn't get the fans hopes up with out good reason. I wonder what the new direction will be and I wonder how long it will take to get an official word from Joss?

Hey, I'll take my happiness anyway I can get it. False hope is still hope. Paticularly when it comes from the oh-so-very-hot Fillion.

Confused now....

I just got a blurb from FF:IA that said that Gina said that Firefly won't go into production...but you can see her blah, blah, blah.

Someone help me out? Throw me a bone?

Never give up on Joss!

Remember when the Buffy movie was made?

Joss said that he lost control of the script and the production, and when it came out in theaters, he sat there in the dark and cried. He was so angry.

Then... how many years went by? And Joss never gives up. He brings *his* Buffy to TV Land, and the rest is history.

When Joss is on a mission, the naysayers will eat their words.

Serenity will fly again...Joss says so.

That's true. Casting Dillon from 90210 was pretty harsh, and the movie bit the big one compared to the TV series, but I don't understand...

Cap'n said that something is happening soon, and the XO said that it's not in production.

Who's right?

Never give up, LA. Never surrender.

In the "Ask Joss 100 questions" thread somebody asks something to the effect of "Is Firefly over?" And his answer is 'God, I hope not.' Somebody copied and pasted it right in.

Keep this vigil with us, okay?

Well, Nate, you done went and got us all stirred up now. So much so that I have to write this post and hope you happen to catch it.
I'm sure we're all thinking the same things here - something like "Are you serious? Really? No kiddin'?" So one understandably has to ask if that was really you and also if you could give us a spoonfull of marrow with that bone you threw us yesterday. Like, say, out of 10 how would you rate this mystery effort Joss is on? Also, we're all a mite confused about the contradictions your revelation poses, namely Gina going into other work and you being contracted by NBC. It hurts. It hurts GOOD, but it hurts. :)
Much thanks!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

This is truly GREAT news!

Nathan seems very optimistic, and he speaks as if he is flexible enough to work Firfly in whatever incarnation it comes back in.

Did anyone else notice that he did not mention the contract w/ NBC? He made it sound as if he is still looking. Do you suppose that is just for the lag time until NBC comes up w/ a show for him?

Sarah, I'm not giving up, just confused. Nathan is saying one thing, Gina is saying another, I need more than wishful thinking to know what's going on.

I got my DVDs from TRS80, so at least I have that, I'm going to the shindig, and I LIVE on this great board that Haken (giggle sorry, still got that story in my head) made up. I'm not giving up, but some reality would help.

Gina's exact quote is "We are cancelled. We won't be on TV."

Which doesn't preclude Firefly coming back in a different format.

production. You can, however, see her in Angel later this season.

Keep in mind LA, that Gina made that quote several weeks ago in an interview. The following week she spoke about her role on another show and mentioned how Joss was still working on FF and that "something was cooking". The thread was on her last week somewhere.

I would say that the most recent news, Nathan's, is probably the most accurate.

Here are those threads LA:

Gina Torres quote from Sci Fi Wire:

[link] http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=1522 [/link]

Gina Torres gets job, says Firefly NOT dead!:

[link] http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=1535 [/link]

So as you can see, the story kind of shifts around over the course of 2 weeks. Not sure if it is misquotes, Joss has the cast keeping things quiet, or whatever, but there are two different statements by the same person.

Great timing LOSTANGEL. I was reading all the posts from the top to the bottom then I read your post "OK, I can go on breathing now!" Then I realised I was holding my breath. So, I took a breath.

Haken's site is SO MUCH BETTER than Fox's board. I wouldn't be surprised if a major network contacts him for employment.

I think what was reffered to was the original movie with Luke Perry and Kristie Swanson, then the 5-6 year gap until the series came about.

It might take years, but Joss will always find a way.

Wow, LA, was it 6 years between the (Buffy) movie and the series? And he kept his idea alive that long... and brought it back from the ultra-dead.

So I wouldn't write off anything when it comes to Firefly's potential.

It could turn out to be the "the Little Series that DID" -

I wouldn't be surprised if Joss makes a Firefly mini-series or movie of some kind, and it in turn spawns another series.

It could happen. I just wish we had some hotshot star banging a drum for Firefly on mainstream talk-TV.

Someone like Oprah...or errr... the Osbornes?

(Gosh I think I just scared myself!)

It could happen, folks. It could happen.

Firefly is just too SHINY to die.

Joss won't allow it.

That's the spirit.

I remember seeing the Buffy movie for 10 cents cos a brand new theatre was opening at the brand new mall (for those of y'all in Nashville, this will be the Galleria).

Flash foward these oh-so many years. If someone had told me, on my way into or out of that movie that 10 years later I would be ready to dedicate my life to a story by that same guy....

Well, I boggle at it.

I'm being melodramatic again, aren't I? I'll hush up.

Let's hope all the Matrix hype pushes it a little way into the limelight. Wouldn't it be great if we could get red-carpet interviews of the two of them and a reporter smart enough to mention Firefly? And then they run with it?!

No recent updates as to the fate of Firefly, but I am sure that Joss and crew are still working on it.

There is this though:

http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=7&t=1633

This tells me that Nathan is still working w/ Joss and that Joss is making sure that Nathan gets work, especially since NBC seems to be in no hurry to come up w/ the promised sitcom built around Nathan.

It will be good to see Nathan on TV again.
