Who's incredibly excited about this Christmas Doctor Who TV special, then?

Hurrah! Giant mountain shaped spaceships over London! David Tennant being weirdly cool! A killer quartet of Santas with musical instruments that double as weapons! The London Gherkin shattering! A deadly spinning Christmas tree! War between the UK and some alien blighters!

That's the impression from the trailers anyway.

All the reviews in so far say that it's ace, from broadsheet and TV listings. I never used to be a Who fan before the new series, but I'm pretty excited now! I hope David Tennant pulls the new Doctor role off. Everything seems to indicate that he will.

So, anyone excited?

They smash up the Erotic Gherkin?

I'm in!

No seriously, I'm clammy with anticipation as it is, I wasn't much of a Who fan (the series' I can remember are the Sylvester McCoy ones)
But I loved the last one to bits, and can't wait to see what Tennant does with the Doctor....

yey! whoo hoo! only three days!

Edit - any long time Who fans here? It'd be interesting to find out what you thought of the last series, and this one-off...

I'm very excited. It looks to be a hell of a lot of fun...

I think David Tennant is going to be great as the doctor, although I am disappointed he's not going to be using his Scottish accent... I'm a big fan (of the accent).

I was never big on the old series, but one of my brothers is (so I have been exposed to a lot of it) and we both love the new series.

I never really thought much of Dr. Who (don't hate me, I'm not a snob, I'm just way too young) until seeing the last series. I'm definitely looking forward to the Christmas Invasion.

Or the Boxing Day Invasion, as it'll be over on this side of the pond.

He'll be fine.

Look how he did with the "You're a girl" bit in Casanova. Stoating.

I'm an old, old time Doctor Who fan (hence my username) and I was just delighted with the new series. While not perfect, it really did hit the high notes on several occasions, but more than that, it became this... phenomenon. It was front page news on most of the tabloids... for several days running. For several papers, it was the big news story.

Frankly, the way it completely won over the mass market made me think that Serenity would do the same... alas, alas. But even so, I'm eagerly awaiting Christmas... or perhaps I should say New Year in my case. Hmmm.
