Whoo-hoo! Can you add an Amazon Donate button? Like the one on www.fireflyfans.net home page.
I use Amazon Donate instead of Paypal. I used Paypal for something before and got a thank you back when I thought it would be anonymous. I believe the Amazon Donate is anonymous because it says so and I sent money to www.fireflyfans.net and did not get thank you. Yeah, it worked.

I have been looking for an Amazon Donate button to send Serenity DVDs to the Troops but this will do. Your motto Help the helpless does not work for the Troops!

How will you divide up the money between Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Serenity? There are a lot more Buffy and Angel DVDs. Can you make a separate Amazon Donate Button for Serenity? I love them all, but Serenity Now!

Thank you.

Paypal sends you a confirmation email, but it doesn't send me any identifying information other than the name associated with the account and the donation amount. What little information I recieve is completely confidential. Amazon may not send you a confirmation email, but it does keep a record of your transaction.

If you're planning on purchasing DVDs anyway, you can just send one directly to the library on the list, or if you wish to send DVDs to the troops use an address on AnySoldier.com.

"Be Mighty: Help the Helpless" is just a slogan.

The money is raised on a per library basis in the order in which they appear on our waiting list. When we have enough to send an entire Whedonverse collection to a library, we move onto the next library.

No, I meant the person who received the donation through Paypal sent me an email back thanking me. Which meant that the WEBSITE receiving the PayPal payment got my email address.

Maybe Paypay has changed a bit since then and no longer sends the email address and I notice it says I do not have to have a Paypal account.

But you say it sends you the "name associated with the account", maybe it sends nothing if you do not set up an account. I'll give it a try.

$25.01 coming your way. Post back what kind of information you get.

Does it cost extra for you to get an Amazon Donate button and a Paypal button? www.fireflyfans.net has both.

Amazon donate says this:

Does the Amazon Honor System share any information about me with third parties?
No. Because we sent your personalized paybox directly to your browser software, the Web site you were viewing did not receive your name or any other information about you from the Amazon Honor System. In fact, we will not share any of your personal information from the Amazon Honor System with other participants in the program, not even sites that you choose to support. For information on how Amazon.com treats the privacy of this information, please see our Amazon.com Privacy Notice. However, by clicking the Send info button on the thank-you page, you may request that we provide your name and e-mail address to a Web site you paid. Please note that we will not provide your credit card number or information or your address to the site you paid. Regardless of whether you remain anonymous or ask that your name and e-mail address be disclosed, the payment recipient is informed of the date and amount of a payment, the PayPage from which the payment was made, and the transaction ID number assigned to the payment. "

I'm thinking all that means is that it simply sends the amount and not the donor's name or anything go along with it. But I do not actually know that either...since I never sent myself an Amazon Donate donation.

Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, FireflyFans.net has a team of people working on the site. When you have a staff that consists of only one person, you tend to like to keep things as easy to manage as possible. Having two separate donation systems would make keeping track of the accounting more time consuming and between work and other commitments, I don't have an abudance of time on my hands. Besides, in the year or so the site has been online, you are the first to ask that an Amazon account be provided. Also, I think Amazon charges a higher transaction fee. In the future I may add an Amazon account if my schedule lightens up or I get some volunteers to help me manage the Project. So far, there just hasn't been a need for one.

Any information I recieve concerning a donation is kept completely confidential. I don't share it with anyone. Since Paypal keeps records of all transactions, I don't even store any of the donation notices on my computer.

There was a donation in the amount of $25.01 that I recieved yesterday. Thank-you.

It worked! And the total Donation amount went up on http://whedonverse.org/ too. A little closer to the goal for Fullerton, CA library.

Don't bother to add the Amazon Donate for just me-especially if they have a higher transaction fee. I'll just use your PayPal one when I can.

Thank you and keep up the good work!

Wow! I don't live too far from the Round Lake Public library!

How did these libraries get chosen?

Any word on the Johnsburg Public Library, McHenry Public Library, or Richmond Public Library? (all nearby in Illinois....)

Maybe once I'm gainfully employed again, I could afford to get the movie for some of my favorite places...

webrageous, this questions for you. I was going to copy and paste your answers from the official Serenity website, but if I do it this way, you get an email and the post gets a bump!

The first few libraries were selected by fans who nominated their favorite Whedonverse celebrity's hometown library to have a donation made in their honor - the rest of the libraries actually selected us. They contacted us asking for the DVDs.

Whedonverse Newsletter

The Whedonverse Multimedia Project wishes all fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Serenity a Happy New Year!

Accomplishments

So far the Project has provided Buffy, Angel and Firefly DVDs to 12 public libraries and sent Firefly DVDs to 3 military units stationed overseas. In addition, fans have reported individual contributions directly to 15 public libraries, 3 charitable organizations, and 1 military unit on our online tally. The fan contributions consisted of 54 books and 47 DVDs.

Libraries Need Serenity Too!

We're asking fans to send copies of Serenity to the 12 public libraries the Project has already provided Buffy, Angel, and Firefly DVDs so that they can complete their Whedonverse collection. This gives fans the opportunity to donate directly to a library that is known to be friendly to the 'verse. Of course, fans can donate
directly to their local library as well. Please be sure to check their donation policy before donating. If you do donate directly to a library, please report it in our online fan tally.

The Project is adding Serenity to the DVDs it will be donating to the libraries on its waiting list. This means we'll need fans help to raise even more money than we've raised for each library in the past. We have 7 more libraries on our list including one in Australia.

New Year's Drawing

Our "Spike Up the New Year" drawing is running until midnight December 28th, so if you'd like to win a copy of Peter David's comic "Spike: Old Times" please send in your entries soon!

Can We Do One More?

2005 is coming to an end and we're very close to being able to order a complete set of DVDs for the Fullerton Public Library. We need to raise about $375 - $400 to purchase them a copy of all the DVDs including Serenity. At the time of this writing, we've raised $224.42. Even a small donation can make a huge difference.

Join Us!

If you'd like to be the first to know about our activities including our comic book give-away drawings and any future contests, please join our mailing list.

As always, thank-you for your support!

Yes, We Can Do More!

Whoo-hoo! I thought it was real far from the goal for the next library. Do you know why I thought that? Because when I click on the My Favorite link to http://whedonverse.org it brings up the Total: $98.79 which I think is the total when I added it to My favorites. When I click on the home button on your website it shows the $224.42 total.

I figured out the problem was my favorite line was going to http://whedonverse.org which shows the $98.79 figure and http://www.whedonverse.org shows the $224.42 total

Actually, when I update the figures, it sometimes requires you to refresh the page in your browser for the new numbers to appear. It doesn't matter whether you use http://whedonverse.org or http://www.whedonverse.org.
