I lurked all those omigod-we-lost- threads, but I can't quite get into the trauma. The trauma of losing (do I still need to be spoiler safe on this?) youknowwho, ya I get into that. Very sad! So, do any of you ladies wear boycut knickers? (Nice word btw!) I have a friend who swears by em, and I like the idea, but they just don't stay put. And that's a lot of fabric to be where it don't belong. Maybe I tried the wrong brand or fabric?

Most of mine are boycut and I adore them. Maybe it has to do with body shape. I have a small waist but big hips so I find that the boycuts sit nicely below my bellybutton and cover everything that needs covering. And they stay put. Plus, I think they're incredibly comfortable, and if you wear them right, you don't have an underwear line. My favourites are at PacSun. Do you have them where you are? One just opened up in my mall about 6 months ago and I am in heaven. We don't have an Old Navy or a Barnes & Noble, but we have a PacSun!

I have found that when wondering anything about anyone to do with film or television, I can nearly always find my answer on imdb.com - I too had the "Baldwin family" question, and solved it thusly. It also helped me figure out exactly which X-Files eps he was in so I could go back and rewatch just those - though his character wasn't ANYWHERE close to as cool :(

I worked for about a year at a Converse factory outlet (before they went broke, shut 'em all down and sold out to Nike) - so, I have about 12 pairs of Chuck Taylor's in my closet (they only cost me $10 a pair at the time), including an admittedly pink pair. I tried to use their proper name (I forgotten it now, but its some type of wine...), then tried calling them salmon, but the truth is they're pink. I'm most fond, though, of the mega-GOTH BOOTS OF DOOM(TM) - replete with 4 1/2" platforms and lots of buckles. Hard to dance in, but I sure feel like a big man when wearing them. I also feel like I'm going to topple over, but that's beside the point.

My girlfriend calls my boxers "panties." I think she taunt's me because I have more shoes than her.

I want to go to Ireland, due to my fascination with the tin whistle, and the mysterious phenom of the "pub." I'd also like to go to Germany or any Scandanavian country during one of the big goth music festivals - I may be to much of a poseur to deal with "The Scene" for the length of a full festival, though :)

Danger! Scorpion is about to type blasphemy! I think that there is really no risk of being a spoiler at this point. The movie was out how long ago? I have to say that if the great god Whedon, the creator of the sacred sagas, chooses to do the rest of his Serenity / Firefly work in flashback/prequel with a complete crew so to speak then I'm all in favor of it. I felt that the movie got away from the thing that made the show great, smallness. The Serenity is a small ship in a huge 'verse. It's people are normal people, they are not meant to save the galaxy, they are too busy saving themselves. Like it or hate it I'm going to use the original Highlander movie to prove my point. The very first movie Connor MacCloud wins the Prize, game over. At that point everything else is small potatoes. Yes I loved that a small hobbit saved all of middle earth, but Serenity is something else. Joss made it unrealistic to make any movies that lie further down the timeline that aren't a big let down from the first movie. Any movies that are set in a time previous to the first movie are all ready damaged by the fact that you know who survives and where everything is leading. In my opinion Joss blew it! I'm not saying it was his idea. I'm guessing it was the fault of the producers, they often have more dollars than sense. Still the movie has been made and there is no going back. I loved the movie, no doubt. However I feel that I have just eaten at a most fabulous banquet with the knowledge that I'll be eating mac and cheese, rice and beans, cabbage and potatoes for the rest of my life.

I'm sorry, but that's been festering inside me for a long time now and it just leaped out.

I totally agree! I love the whole "western hero of questionable morals" thing (OK, and the fact that Nathan's so damn hot - that helps too.) I hope Mal doesn't turn into an annoying Andromeda I-used-to-be-Hercules type of captain. I like seeing him flounder around in the ethical morass.

I must remind myself to have faith in Joss to keep Mal dark the way I like him. I got no worries about Jayne, I can't see him turning into Picard's number one guy anytime soon. **shudders in horror**

haha, you guys have my head spinning (granted the semi hitting me probably didn't help much ;D).

I have a brown (leather) coat which is currently at the laundromat people. It was full of blood from my recent accident (which I have been told roughly eighty million times that I should not have survived). Now everyone that sees me post here would probably call me a negative person. Should I take my still being here, surviving that accident, as a sign that I should indeed be here? or should I continue tearing myself down ;D?

Please forgive me, I'm still rather looped from the wreck. Carry on with the lovely thread and the talking of undergarments and the like, haha

M4P: I only have like 2 pairs of those 'boy cut' knickers. Mine are made by maidenform and I got them at a kohl's. They are the only ones that I have ever tried that didn't take a voyage on my bum. The other pairs I have I don't wear because of bum-voyage (hehe say it out loud its all punnerific). The Victoria's secret microfibery ones were okay but I don't think they make them anymore. I agree with CMS when she says that she thinks they are very body specific. I have 'junk in the trunk' and so they have a tendancy to ride up if my pants are too tight. Although I swear by boycut bottoms on swim suits!

Scorpion Regent: Just so you know VS carries a very restrictive size list, they only carry the most common sizes, so that means anything outside of the norm isn't carried. Fredrick's of Hollywood carries damn near any size the earth creates. What I am trying to say is that just cos they don't carry it doesn't mean they are gigantic, it just means they are unique. Unique boobs are awesome.

I gots a brown-ish colored pea-coat that looks a lot like Zoe's browncoat! I have my Chicagoland Browncoats pin on it and in winter wear it exclusively with my Jayne hat. And I wonder why I can't get a date...

LMD: glad to hear you are alive and well enough. I think you've gotta believe in some higher power to believe that you were spared and are meant to be here. I don't so don't look to me to be assigning meaning to your survival. Although I think that cos you did it's a sign that maybe you were beginning to travel down the right path and now you will get to continue as such. Remember, not everyone gets a second chance to live their life, use it wisely. (and be a bit more optimistic. I'm not a pessimist, I'm a misanthrope, I hate people, but I think things can always get better ;) )

oh my god, BEG, I love you, you've just managed, in one sentence to win me an argument I've been having with my folks since I was fifteen.

Thank you!

And as for the zoe coat, jayne hat combo, I think it sounds adorable, Itried a jayne style hat on in a shop the other day and couldn't stop laughing at myself in the mirror, every time i looked, fresh peals, and i couldn't get the hat off, had to be rescued, couldn't draw breath.

needless to say, i'm still hat-less today, regularly loosing sensation in my ears, i wish i had a hat...

try wearing the coat with tight jeans and knee high boots over them, you'd look a bit daft in the snow, but men apparently adore the ol' boots and hey, you'd be fashionable. in London if nowhere else...

Let's see if I can remember everything.

LMD: I hope that this accident will remind you (and all of us) that each day is a precious gift and that we can choose how we spend it. We can try to make a positive impact on our world and the people around us, or we can waste it away. I'm a realist, too, but when I give myself time to just observe my world it takes my breath away with its beauty and perfection and possibilities.

BEG: I wear my brown coat with my brown knee high boots all the time (I prefer to wear my boots with a short skirt) and I LOVE how it looks.

Seryn: I made myself a Jayne hat and then I knitted a scarf to go with it. I'm just waiting for it to get cold enough so I can wear them in public. Maybe I'll run into another browncoat! Who knows?

SR: Victoria's Secret only stocks cup sizes A-D.

Gave up on maidenform years ago. Plus, we don't have a Kohls here.

I buy Wykel mostly. I can find them at Dillards. Expensive, but worth the money and not hideous! You girls want to figure out how to keep white knickers white, I want someone to invent an affordable, comfortable, functional bra that looks cute and comes in actual colours! (white, beige and black are NOT colours. They're monotones.) Oh, and it can't have poking underwire or more than 3 hooks in the back. And no thick or padded straps! (I have quite a list of demands!)

Right, (dons her scholars cap, raps on the blackboard with a cane, flinches)

VPL, or visible-panty-line is, er, visible panty line.

when you can see the outline of your underwear through your clothes, or worse, you can see the flesh bulging out either side of too-tight elastic or summat, not a good look, it what g-strings and thongs were invented to combat, but they don't work, the only way you can avoid it is if the whole of the fabric is elasticated and not just the waist band and leg holes, even if the pants fit you perfectly, often the elastic is thicker than the rest of the garment and stands out.

Its most often a problem under lightweight sheer fabrics and light colours.

when you have vpl under jeans, its time to really worry. and er, wear a long coat.

M4P: I bought the cotton ones. They have just enough spandex in all of the fabric that they make any bum look good. Also the elastic on the legs and top isn't so hard core that it makies you feel like circulation is being cut off.

CMS: I gotta say check out Fredricks of Hollywood. Yes they make all sorts of vile stripper-gear BUT they also carry a wide range of rare bra sizes in really really pretty colors and styles (and not all are whorish, trust me it's not whores-R-us!). I mean do you think Pamela Anderson is wearing beige bras all the time? Carmen Electra? Exactly. Also Check out Oprah's website. She recently did this show on Bra fittings and she had a list of stores that carry pretty bras that are in not so conventional sizes. Victoria's Secret maxes out at a DD, and I think it's a 40DD that they stop at (I might be wrong), which screws a lot of women into wearing the wrong sized bra just to fit into their bras.

Before we take this up to the 5th floor ladies I got one recommendation: GO GET FITTED FOR A BRA Seriously, I know we all 'think' we know what size we are, but 90% of women are wearing the wrong sized bra (which causes all sorts of problems from posture to back pain to shoulder pain ect). Get thee to a Victoria's Secret, Fredricks of Hollywood or Neiman Marcus (most high-end department stores like Boston Store, Younkers, Marshall Fields, ect will have fitters) and get properly fitted. It sounds ridiculous, but seriously, we all just kept trying on bras until they seemed to fit okay right? Yeah, exactly. Everyone I know who has gone and gotten fitted has been wearing the wrong sized bra their entire life!!! Even my mom!!! So go do yourself a favor while shopping for gifts at the mall this holiday season get your ass into a store and get fitted. Then buy yourself a pretty bra as a reward for being a good female.

Fifth floor to open soon!!!

CALLMESERENITY

Already been fitted. Many times.

Every time I lose another 10 lbs I go and get refitted, hoping that my size will change, but alas!

And Fredrick's is another store I don't have anywhere near me.

I did buy a strapless bra there once for a wedding I was in. Awful. The bride decided it'd be great if we all wore these spaghetti strap empire waist numbers. But spaghetti strap, empire waist dresses are not designed for people with my..um..special needs? It was Torture! And I was very very self conscious because I was showing entirely too much cleavage. And the bra I ended up having to buy had these HUGE elastic bands around the sides. PAIN like you've never known. (And not the good kind.) I would have rather gone with a corset or something, but they were $40 more than my $70 bra AND the wedding was in Fl in June. Can you say HOT? (again, not the good kind.)

I have tried on thousands of bras, from every store, every brand imaginable. I have spent hours upon hours shopping for bras. (Mai can attest to this.) The simple fact is that when you're a 34DD you have very few options. And most of those options are very expensive. I did accidentally turn my white bras pink in the wash a couple of weeks ago. They turned out cute!

*ends bra rant*

You can order Fredrick's online (and if you hate them you can return them no problem). If it makes you feel better the girl I work with is a 32DD (BTW shes tiny, like wears a size 2, I'm surprised she doesn't tip over), she can't find a bra to buy for her life. Although she really really likes the Body by Victoria bras (and they come in lots of pretty colors), The Angel's collection and the standard Victoria's secret bras (again, colorful and happy). I've ordered from VS online in the past and when something just didn't fit I returned it postage paid to them no problem, they refunded my money right away. So if anything (if you don't have one near by) you can always try that. Somehow this shithole I live in has a VS, which to me is damn remarkable. VS does have their cotton DDs on sale right now 2 bras for $40 ($20 a piece ain't bad no matter what size you wear). Their second skin satin is on sale too and my best friend loves them (she's a DD too, I am surrounded by busty chicks). If you take care of them the VS bras last forever, so while they might be $30+ if they last 2 or 3 years who cares? Well that's just me. I still owe them like $40, so I shouldn't talk.

Wow, I'm realizing that all that teasing I took in high school for being flat chested was worth it. Bras are a pain in the - well, somewhere, huh?

Let's hear it for the slightly reinforced tank-top! cheap, comfy, colorful, and easy to find. Sorry, I don't mean to rub it in. Just appreciating what I don't have.

Thanks for the info, BEG.

I'm quite happy with my wykels for the time being, except that they only come in boring colours. I find that they are more comfortable and durable than VS and Fredricks bras (I really don't find most Fredrick's bras comfy AT ALL. Great looking, but not for wearing all day.) I'm really not into VS anyway. In my smaller days, I had to return many because underwire came out or straps broke or whatnot, and I found they didn't hold up well to repeated washings (even by hand). But that was my experience.

I recently tried an angel bra. I didn't love it. I'd like to try the new ipex(?), but last I checked, it didn't come in my size.

Okay, the men are all going to faint if we keep this discussion up much longer (if they haven't already!)

I can vouch for this as well.

Huh, we're the same size! How 'bout that?

I really like the VS Second Skin Satins; they're comfy and come in lots of pretty colors. (You don't want to know how many different shades of purple I've got. Okay, just three.) But if you don't like underwire then that doesn't work for you.

I didn't like the Body by Victoria. It was wearable for about three hours then it was horrid. I'd like to try an Ipex, but it's so pricey...

So I guess I'm no help to you.

And I agree that black, white, and beige are NOT colors!

Wow. I just dropped off the face of the Earth there for a couple days. Sorry.

Mal4Prez: Thank you for posting that link to the movie version of the Ballad of Serenity. My soundtrack is complete.

Far as browncoats go, I picked up a greyish-brown officer's coat at an army surplus store a few months back. Not quite a browncoat, but it's the best I could do for $20.

I didn't realize you were there.

Yeah, I was there. Wasn't registered here as Orpheus yet. I'm working on that picture business.

So then, recap (since I deleted it from previous post): From the NCBDMPP. That's me in the middle. Not quite a brown coat, but it'll do.

Edit: HA! It works!

MG-Great! Now the men really are going to all have heart attacks!

I don't like the second skin satins. But you know, that's the problem with bras. It's like jeans, every woman is built just a little bit different. I only wear Levi's bootcut 515s (I think they're the 515s) short. I've tried nearly every jean on the market and those are the ones that fit me the best. They're just the right length and they sit well on me, I think.

So sports! Sports are..um...sporty! And you know what else is sporty? Sports cars! Love those sports cars!

Nope, sorry, don't remember you.

Snazzy picture, though, and I think you and your friends look great! LOVE the goggles.

Did you see me? I was there, as was Mai and MG. And Jadehand. I can find pictures to prove it, too!

Can't promise I'll remember anyone, but sure, I'd like to see some pictures.

At that point, I wasn't a full-on browncoat yet. Sure, I had the coat and I loved the show, but the film hooked me hard. The very next day I came here and registered a name. Or, at least, tried to.

A couple of the faces look familiar. Yeah, I really didn't know anyone aside from my own group. Though, if I remember correctly, I sat right next to Haken during the BDM.

Strange time to start reminiscing about that...

Heres one to make you faint again!

(and also a word of warning to the girls)

you heard of those strapless and back less bra's? they kind of stick on with little clear patches under the arms, and if your not to big they're supposedly a great idea for lowback/strappy/strapless dresses.
Well last christmas our works do was in a really posh italian returant so I figured visible bra straps just wouldn't do, so I got one of these stick on bra's.

Of course, I loose the stickers for it, so it comes to the night I panic then hit upon the idea of using the spirit gum from my fx make-up kit. Everything is going fine, I get through the resturant part no probs, then we get to the night club, I get warm, and suddenly the bra pings right off!

I'd used water soluble spirit gum, instead of the hard core original stuff, so as soon as I sw... perspired, off it came. ARRRRRGGGG!

The worst thing was, I was on the stage talking to the DJ at the time, and to this day I have no idea if anyone realised what the sudden crossing of arms and running off to the ladies meant.

Ah god,

so the moral of this story is, if you are fool hardy enough to try one of those things DON'T LOOSE THE STICKERS.

and that neatly leads into -

proposal for the fifth floor opening topic - everybodies most embarassing moments,

could be anything, so get working on those mental blocks people...
