Finish this sentence. In the BDM when Mal goes to Inara, Inara interrupts his sentence. What do you think Mal was going to say?

"Dear Budda, please bring me a pony, and a plastic rocket, and one of those___________."

Also, does anyone know what Rivers safe word means? It's not translated in the visual companion and I've searched all over the web, but can't seem to find it. It looks latin..?
"Eta Kooram Nah Smech"

Stay Shiny!

The safe word means something about chickens I think. I've seen the translation but can't remember exactly.

I can't think of any finish to the sentence that isn't extremely idiotic so I'll keep my mouth shut.

PMSL! If that's Latin, I was paying even less attention in my Latin studies than I thought I was. Not sure what it is, but on another thread it was stated that it's Russian, meaning "That's for chickens to laugh at". Not sure if that's true, just what was said on the other thread.

As for what Mal was about to say (SPOILER!): "... and one of those pilot-folk to fly our ship. Looks like we'll be needing a new one soon."

That is definately not Latin. I'm taking Latin, and there's no possible way that could be it.

I think it's just made-up stuff.

As for the sentence, it's: "and one of those companions, her name's Inara."

Darn Inara for cutting him off.

"Dear Budda, please bring me a pony, and a plastic rocket, and one of those___________."

Inara action figure dolls.

See? Now I have this image of Mal as Black Helmet, playing with his action figures, making the little Inara smooch the little Mal and it's all bad...

"Dear Budda, please bring me a pony, and a plastic rocket, and one of those___________."

Hmmm.. lol.. I believe when it comes to Inara there is always going to be a descrepancy between what he says and what he REALLY wants to say.. lol..

Hmm.. what he might have said...

"one of those Chinese bobble head dolls"

Isn't that a reference to one of their previous jobs in the episode "safe"? lol..

But what he would really be thinking would be something along the lines of a honest to goodness science-fictiony time machines to go back in time to stop Inara from ever leaving in the first place.. to tell her what he has wanted to tell her for a long time. What he was going to tell her at the end of HoG before she cut him off as she ran from the pain of him sleeping with Nandi. And how desperatly he has missed her every second she has been gone.

Smaug..

"Eta Kooram Nah Smech"

supposedly it is Russian (spelled phonetically)
and means:
"That's for chickens to laugh at"
(Это курам на смех)
I suppose it is important to have something no one would just say randomly when she is out in the world?

Or, we could speculate some more...

If that translation is accurate, it sounds a bit like a folk saying of some kind -- the sort of thing you might throw into a conversation when somebody cracks a bad joke.

Anybody here fluent in Russian?

The phrase is is supposed to translate into "The lauphter of chickens" which is a russian phrase to indicate something riddiculous. Kinda like asking someone "What do you know about milking a duck?" or reffering to someone "when you were knee-high to a grasshopper."

At least, that's how it was explained to me.

And the final line was "Cargo with smallish droppings."

My signature beat up your signature.
