Alternatively, go to the music video part of my site here:

Bleah bleary blather cold rainy snow Snow SNOW. And Coffee. The coffee part is good.

Can't get to the videos from work, blocking software hates video and audio downloads except from certain "official" sources. Bleah again.

I might actually finally get this portrayal catalogue database finished today, which is good 'cause I thought I had it done last Friday. Mis-communication regarding the schema design and had to re-do about half of it, including re-working piles of affected data. Bleargh. That's my geek speak for the day; bother me no more.

We had dinner by candle light again last night, as another storm took down yet another set of power lines. This time the outage went on until well into the night. We jinxed ourselves: we've been discussing going with all-in-one digital service including phone line, which would mean phones down in a power outage (we all have our mobiles, so not a huge issue), and we noted we hadn't had such an outage in years. Heh. We really should know better than to allow such things in hearing of the Brownies and other assorted mischief-makers.

What else? Hmm. It's Friday for my wife, as tomorrow's Veteran's Day and the bank she works at will be closed. I, on the other hand, will be at work as usual as I'm still allowing my vacation time to rebuild after the Florida trip. It's ironic, being as how I'm a veteran and all. Fortunately such things don't bother me any.

I don't have a sore throat, nor sniffles nor a cough, but I did burn the roof of my mouth with hot pizza.

There, I think I've caught things up. How's everyone else doing?

The roof of mouth burning thing is pretty much the only problem with pizza I can think of. Otherwise, they are food heaven in a mighty disk-like form.

I hate employer-installed net limitation things. They always block the most interesting stuff.

Spinland, I would've liked to go to CFB Trenton on Friday to put a poppy on my Granddads marker, but alas work interferes. But I will at least observe the moment of silence, work be damned.

We didn't have the power outage, but I did have the fireplace crackling and my wife had candles on just in case. She LOVES Party-Lite and I'm a little embarassed to say, some of the candles are actually quite nice, they smell good too.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go watch an hour of football then arrange the flowers for the table setting tonight...arggg!!! Make it stop!!

Damn these shoes just don't go with this outfit, what was I thinking...

Safe trip, Rel!

LOL @ CMS! Just the fixative for those gender identity issues, eh?

My dad's still with us; he did a couple of tours in the Navy, as did his dad before him, but grand-dad's marker is in California so visiting it's not on the menu. My job's with a big-time defense contractor, and about 90% of our customers are military or military-related, so I'm somewhat surprised at things not grinding to a halt tomorrow. I'm never averse to a long weekend, if I don't have to burn vacation time to get it. I do have two "floating" holidays left for the year, but I'm saving those for 4-day weekends over Thanksgiving and Xmas. I'm going to settle for quaffing a brew or two tomorrow evening in toast to all poor blighters past, present and future (myself included).

Fireplaces. I want. When we buy/build our permanent digs (towards which we're mightily saving while renting), a fireplace is a must-include feature. I'm so jealous of people who currently have one.

We have a fireplace. My grandfather nearly burnt the house down last year when he lit a fire with the flue closed. The house smelled so bad for months, even though I dusted and vacuumed and scrubbed and rinsed and repeated many times.

Both my parents surved during the Vietnam War, my living grandfather was in Korea and the other surved during WWII. Lots of vets in my family. I always say I served my country for 8 years, because I was a Navy Brat and was dragged all over the globe until my dad retired when I was 8. I'll have to make sure to say something to my grandfather. He's very active in his Korean War Veterans group. We went to the unveiling of a Korean War monument in Augusta GA last year.

Drive safe Rel!

Granddad was an airman. RCAF wireless gunner in the Lancaster bombers. Got to see one of those that they recovered. The incrediblely small space each crewman had...I never could've done it.

I've never been to one of these "Con" things. I'm thinking I'd like to go, but Ontario seldom gets them. If they do, unless one lives in Toronto...

Grand-dad was a cook on a Destroyer during WWII, and Dad worked on aviation electronics on an aicraft carrier during Viet Nam. I was the first of the family not to go Navy or Marine Corps, but the Air Force made me a better deal in the long run: I got them to pay for almost 100% of my undergrad and graduate degrees. I was the first of my family to go to college in a major way. I had to spend 800-odd hours flying on combat crew in the process, but I consider it a fair trade. I came away marketable, and the retirement check (while not enough to live on) is a nice bit of extra in the bank every month.

It could've been more than that, I suppose, but my first wife successfully laid claim to a 50% cut and there you have it. My half adds up nicely in the bank, so it's all good. While she and her ne'er-do-well new husband enjoy the rural trailer lifestyle, I and mine have our sights on a nice little log cabin far enough out of the city to be quiet and peaceful-like.

Crikey, how I do ramble today.

PR-I would come if only I could!

Safe-How I WISH the copier was channelling Bob Marley. Then we'd get along better. As it is, it's being VERY bad. I said to it "If you jam one more time, I'm going to have to call the repair guy. Is that what you want?" And then immediately it jammed up and made a bunch of R2 beeping noises and wouldn't work anymore. So I put it in time out. I hope it's thinking about what it did wrong!

Spinny-Yes, my nurse's outfit DOES come with band-aids. Oddly enough, Winnie-the-Pooh bandaids.

If Queenie's Queen of the North and Safe is Court Jester of the North, can I Ambassador to the North?

I can't remember the last time we had rain here, so the leaves are all nice and crisp and have that lovely dead leaf fall smell.

Plus, I found this absolutely perfect red maple leaf. Just gorgeous.

And I'm not entirely sure what Haken can do. He can remove the content they posted. He can get rid of those accounts.

But I wouldn't worry too much. Haken can handle them. He's a semi-god or a lesser deity or something. He's got POWERS. Have faith in Haken.

We had a few wondrous rain-free days in which to frolic in the yuck-free leaves; alas, the rain has returned in spades. I still haven't had to scrape car windows, but there's only been one sub-freezing night as yet. Some of this evening's leaf-yucking is supposed to become mixed with the season's first snow flurries. Fall's going to become winter all too fast this year. We normally take at least one foliage hike in the Adirondacks but this year the rain persisted until the leaves were mostly down.
