FOXSUCKS

Let's face it, FOX is a kick ass network. Amazing shows like the Simpsons, Firefly, Family Guy, Arrested Development. Everything good on television seems to be on Fox. But I must say they are really damaging their network as of late.
What the hell is wrong with this damn network? For god sakes they only gave Firefly 11 shows and cut it. It was poorly advertised and the time slot wasn't the best either. I watch Fox almost exclusively for syndicated seinfeld and simpsons as well as Arrested Development and i have been for some time yet i was introduced to firefly from the movie Serenity (my pick for film of the year, although maybe tie with sin city). My point is Fox needs to do a much better job! Those sons of Bitches cut Futurama for god sake. Simpsons gets shitty just as Futurama gets good and they axe Futurama! They brought the Family Guy back (a sub-par cartoon sitcom compared to Futurama and The simpsons seasons 3-11).
What are they so anxious to make room for here? Gorram reality shows!! I swear if they cancel Arrested Development I will boycott their network. Stupid sons of bitches!

They have a habit of canceling original and critically acclaimed shows, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Brimstone, Dark Angel, John Doe, Millennium, Wonderfalls, etc.

No, I bet it was like this. One of the FOX executives was watching an episode of Firefly, and the introduction song where it says "you can't take the sky from me" The FOX executive thought about that line and decided he wanted to see if he could do just that....and he did it appears.

Yes I know its negative; I'm sorry

Gee, I seem to recall some Fox exec, years ago, being quoted as saying: "The biggest mistake we made was cancelling 'Alien Nation'."

Let's review...

Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr.
Alien Nation
Brimstone
Firefly
Harsh Realm
The Lone Gunmen
M.A.N.T.I.S. (Only because I'm obssessed with exoskeletons )
Profit
Space: Above and Beyond
Strange Luck
The Tick (animated)

Here's a good discussion...

Brimstone was pretty good. I wonder if they would have had to really strech out some of the hunts to make the 113 (I think) souls last longer if the show ran for a long time.

I was quite upset when they canceled Futurama. When it was on, I thought it was funnier than The Simpsons episodes that were airing. Of course, The Simpsons was in it's 10th or 11th season by then and losing some steam.

Every network cancels shows we like. Sci-Fi canceled MST3K, WB canceled Angel. It is not just a Fox thing. I have to give Fox credit for trying more unusual shows than other networks, though. Would NBC, CBS or ABC ever aired Firefly? Or The Simpsons? Probably not. Look at the shows that people are listing that Fox at least tried. Westerns. Supernatural shows. Science fiction. Conspiracy shows. What were the other networks showing? Rehashing the same old story lines. Police shows. Lawyer shows. 20 somethings with low moral values in the big city shows. Now EVERYONE is getting in on these formats. Lost, Prison Break (on Fox), Invasion, Surface, Supernatural, Numbers, Medium. Of course, don't get me wrong. I wish Fox had not canceled Firefly.

I have no idea why I went on a rant like that. Sorry.

EVILBUNNIES

As much as I hate FOX, its sad to say most of my current shows are on that channel. (Prison Break, Kitchen Confidential, Bones, House, OC, and Reunion) Yet I will never forgive them for cancelling Firefly, just like I will never forgive the WB, even though I'm at least watching 2 shows on that channel.

Its ok. FOX missed out on something big. They have to realize that by now, since the movie came out. They can wallow in their thoughts while they think of new reality shows (gag).

TALLGRRL

Fox...well, ALL networks actually...is all about making money the cheapest way possible.
They struck lightning in a bottle back when the X-Files (which came close to being canceled) gained cult status then went big.
I'm surprised "24" is still on. Then again, that show almost got canceled as well.
I heard Tim Minear say that the weasles at Fox hated Firefly from the get-go, and when they decided to NOT air the pilot first, it was their way of killing the show.
Personally, I think it was retaliation for Joss taking Buffy and giving it to the WB.
Plus, they were already riding high on the reality-crap thing and you just know they figured why the hell pay money for something actually GOOD, when you can put on some reality-crap and not have to pay writers or actors or set designers or crew for that matter.
I detest News Corporation (aka Pravda USA) and the only thing I'll actually actively watch on Fox or FX are 24, Nip/Tuck, and Rescue Me.
Most of the time I tape them so I can zip through the commercials.
I'm considering just completely foregoing watching and just waiting until seasons come out on DVD and doing it that way.
By the way, Arrested Development? Brilliant show.
It's a fluke that Fox has kept it alive this long.
I'm thinking that this is their last season. On Fox, anyway.
It would be nice if Comdey Network or TNT...or even USA, would buy it.
Fat chance. Fox owned it. Even if they kill it, they won't allow anyone else to take it.
Bastards.

Fox is a miscombobulated pile of opposite interests. If schizoprenia could be turned into a digital signal it would be Fox. If anyone could make sense of it, they'd be given a suit, a tie, and a corporate job at Fox.

EMPTY

in my eyes...since they cancelled Firefly...they are a small hut on the outskirts of new jersey full of an inbred family of hillbillies who like to sally forth and attack the sets of good shows (hence all them reaver attacks) and, in their spare time, like to marry their cousins and fornicate with small furry animals...

okey sorry you had to see that, its my mini rant. i think they made a grave mistake with cancelling firefly...now theres others, but i dont give a damn about them, its all firefly for me, best show ive seen in a good while

and now to regain my upbeat bunny status-FIREFLY WILL RISE, stop bein negative-keep ranting at FOX-but dont be negative, soon enuff firefly will find a home and then we can go to that hut and burn/pillage their 'offices' down in a crusade of firefly related death : P

I totally agree. Futurama was a really good show and if it wasnt bad enough that they cut, they go and cut firefly aswell which is much worse they didnt even give it a chance. they all need their heads read.

UNREGISTEREDCOMPANION

The television landscape is changing. The networks are NOT keeping up with the change. The HUGE numbers for one show they all want are not going to be there like they used to. People are more diverse and their viewing habits have morphed. Viewers want to watch WHAT they want WHEN they want...not be spoonfed a bunch of crap.

These aren't the days of chicken or beef. We now have a buffet, but it is still the same amount of people going out to eat.

QUEENOFTHENORTH

I think the problem is -- Fox has lost touch with their roots. They made a name for themselves by putting groundbreaking shows on the air (like Simpsons) and they became successful because of that. But lately, they've been flushing all the groundbreaking shows down the toilet to replace them with horrible crap like reality shows. They need to go back to the groundbreaking shows before it's too late and bring back Firefly. Yeah, that's my evil plan.

I give to you the Seeker of Serenity, the Valkyrie Warrior, the Gourmet Cook and the Truth Scoper.

The weird thing about this whole scenario is...

(yes this deserves the preambling delay of "...")

Fox has already done this once before. It was the most epic mistake in the history of Hollywood.

They did it to some no-name'd independant film maker. They followed it up with a ruthless campaign of sabotage and bloodletting to anyone who sided with him when it looked as if they were mistaken.

That filmmaker's name was George Lucas. He only survived the allpowerful Fox because they "foolishly" signed over merchandising rights to him. We would never have seen "The Empire Strikes Back" if Lucas hadn't pulled off that brilliant piece of contractual maneuvering. His merchandising profits funded the development of the sequel to the first Star Wars movie we all know and love.

Fox will never make that mistake again. The next Lucas will be shit-out-of-luck if they try to keep their brainchild alive.

JAYTEE

The simple answer is that Rupert Murdoch is the majority stockholder in FOX and he is not just an overweight assbag but is in league with Satan and also a major force of the Neocon movement to destroy our Constitution. Everyone who loves truth and freedom should boycott all FOX programming regardless of how good it may appear.
Firefly was cancelled because it made us feel like we had the power to fight against the forces of evil. Murdoch didn't want anyone getting any ideas from the show.

INSANITYLATER

Fox used to be my favorite network. They used to be edgy with the Simpsons (when it was fresh), Married with Children, Herman's Head, In Living Color. Now they just blow weasel. The only "networks" I give any time to are SciFi, Comedy Central, and Cartoon Network (Adult Swim only). I used to like Showtime when they had Dead Like Me.
