We were never told, other than obviously not a core planet.

Presumably she's a native of the planet where Mal bought Serenity, but we never hear that planet's name.

By a process of elimination we could get it down to, oh, twenty or so possibilities...

Hey there, DonCoat,

It's you again (GORRAM IT!! HOW I.T.F. DO YOU MAKE THESE FRIGGIN' EMOTICONS WORK?!?!?!?!? - I tried to put a flippity-dippity :-) there and, no matter what I do, the beeYATCH just LAUGHS at me... "mumble, mumble, mutter, cringe"...)

Anyway... (whew!)... I agree with your thought that Kaylee's planet was where Mal bought The Ride - and that was where Kaylee (and her parents) were from... but (dunno why exactly) I was thinking that was Persephone... Eastdown Docks... something stuck in my ...what didja say to 'KRAD'... "calcified brain cells(?)"... that made me think that.

Speaking of KRAD, I hope you fellas made up about your... y'know... O.C.D. or whatever... after his last post, I was tempted to quote Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along?"

HOHOHO

these frikkin' emoticons "are stupid, inbred pieces of meat"

Hi, Un.

Emoticons: type in (or highlight/cut/paste) the text from the left panel, i.e. ;biggrin; but with : instead of ;. This board isn't very highly automated, no doubt to save resources on Haken's server.

Persephone is definitely a possibility for Kaylee's terra firma, but AFAIK it was never specified. (I believe they call it Eavesdown Docks, though.)

I can't really blame KRAD for any 'tension' in that other thread -- I did, after all, sorta trash his book, and writers tend to get a bit tetchy about things like that. However, I don't think there was any open flame involved on either of our parts, and hope he feels the same.

Doubt he's gonna offer to show my unpublished SF novel to his agent, though...

Definitely not a core planet... So we can subtract any of them.

Also, I think we can safely write off any planets we've seen them on since then, or else there would have been a mention of her perhaps visiting her folks.

It can't have been a completely new outer-rim world because those don't have much in the way of technology, but we know it was close enough to the core to have sufficient (and increasing) high-tech industry to not only support a mechanic, but also to be doing him out of a job because of the growth of commercial repair outfits.

I'm thinking Angel, Ita, Liann Jiun or Silverhold.

I kinda got the feeling that they had taken off from the planet where Mal had brought Serenity and were making a stop over.
Mal says:
"When we landed you said you needed a couple of days to get her space worthy again..."
I suppose it's not inconceivable that it is the planet Mal brought Serenity from, but it's equally likely to be any Rim world.

Right, so it's after something happened to make Serenity not-entirely spaceworthy. That narrows it down.

We can fairly safely assume that there's a lot of farming that goes on there...

I'm working on a fanfic, and I picked Three Hills as being her home world/moon, her dad's place being just outside the town of Valley. Not that I claim to have any inside knowledge or anything, and I hope that someday Joss will clear it up for us.....

Hi DC,

Thanks so much for your help; really appreciate it

Kinda wish there was an emoticon that genuinely portrayed the notion of "shiny." Being true-to-the-milieu could be ...umm... 'shiny.'

And of course you're right about the "EAVESDOWN" docks, yup... I was just going from memory don'tchaknow and, i believe we discussed something to the effect of the umm... dessicated nature of, well... mine anyway.

Curious about your unpublished novel... I mean, speaking as a writer, I have genuine respect for, literally, ANYONE who can overcome humankind's communal collective desire to de-evolve, get up off their asses, and... focus their energies and do something creative. Of course, I must correct myself a smidge and point out that when a writer takes action he, ummm... is obliged to get ONto his ass... but the result is the same: work occurs.

I believe anyone's creative ideas - yours for example - deserve investigation by us open-minded sorts so... Good Luck, I look forward to seeing it.

HOHOHO

All good ideas degenerate to work, unless "you're a stupid, inbred stack of meat"
