You've been anticipating the movie for months, right? I mean, you love going to the movie theatres and all but you just want the previews to end!

They finally do, right? You recognize the film as the introduction to the 'Verse. You've already got a smile on your face as you're watching a story be told of your favorite show that you happen to be just obsessed with on a big screen around strangers that probably never seen FIrefly.

Then suddenly.. the Serenity logo zooms out and the firefly ship is before you. And already, you're smiling bigger than Kaylee in her puffy dress!

The music!! OMG!! The music. The view spins around the ship just entering atmo.. you can see inside the cockpit of Wash piloting and Malcom standing next to him.

Probably my favorite part in the movie so far. Well, at least, for the moment. I have favorite parts everytime I think of a different part of the movie.

Anyway, I had to sort of express what I was going through. Anyone else feel the same way? And most importantly... is there a soundtrack? I want it!!

Yes, there's a soundtrack. I have a copy on order from Amazon. It might come today!

Some important bits aren't there, though. The Serenity main theme (the very music you're describing) is quite short, less than a minute. Would have been nice to have a full expansion of that.

Also, I can kill you with... er, I mean, the solo-guitar version of the Firefly theme (at the end of the credits) is not on the soundtrack. Boo! Hiss!

Ain't about you, Jayne. It's about what they need.

There's gonna be a whole passel of people recording that off the end of the DVD when it comes out... Still, very disappointing.

There is a good deal of music not on the CD such as the escape from Lilac, when the Operative is looking over Mal's file, the first flyover of Mr. Universe's complex, and of course the Firefly theme at the end of the credits. It would have been nice to have a track that fully explores the Operative's theme. Still, what's on the CD is fantastic.

Yes, fantastic indeed. I've been listening to it non-stop for almost a week and a half now and it just gets better and better to my humble ears.

Maybe David Newman or Universal (or Newman's manager) will send out a promo edition of the score for the Academy Awards judges. Promos like that tend to find their way to ebay. If so, it might have material that's not on the official score. And if so, I'll be grabbing me a copy.
