BTVS movie was a flop, yet it got converted into a TV series.

Firefly series was a flop on Fox due no fault of its own and got converted into a movie.

Based on the DVD sales it seems that there is a demand for the show. It all depends on how much it costs to produce. If Joss and the actors can come to an agreement and Fox needs a sci-fi show to compete head on with Lost or something similar than maybe they will make more episodes. Till then they are still raking in too much money from Firefly and there will be more thanks to Serenity and the new fans the show will get once Serenity comes to the DVD.

Once it quiets down a bit and Josh with Nathan have had enough of big screen projects, I have a feeling that we might see new episodes. Either way, I'd much rather see Firefly reborn than another Serenity movie.
