Well, even though I'm a long time Star Wars fan.... ( went way down in my estimation after seeing the BDM- that's just my opinion...) I will be boycotting the DVD when it comes out. I will be buying 2 more sets of Firefly DVD's to share and have on hand to convert with instead.

I was wondering if any of you folks who are numbers crunchers can give us an idea how much that Star Wars DVD will cut into Firefly sales?

My guess would be "Not at all."

I think most folks who are going to buy Firefly are going to be hardcore fans, so they'll shell out the extra dough.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

What is the release date for Star Wars III? Shouldn't it be coming out the first part of November?

Okay, so that means that it will be out Tuesday, November 1st. That means it will have been in stores just shy of two months when Serenity comes out. That will allow for the initial flood of sales to subside & most of the Christmas purchases of the SWIII DVDs to be out of the way.

No, I don't think it will impact Serenity DVD sales much at all.

You know, FollowMal, I need a DVD set, actually.

(I know, try not to let this 'damage your calm')

Also, I'm a much much much bigger fan of Firefly than Starwars, although Starwars has many years over Firefly. However, I'll be getting the Ep. III DVD. Either that, or Santa Claws will bring me one. At least... I hope he does!

Aw, Madrick, I hope Santa Claws brings me one too, but I'm not gonna wait around on him to bring me Serenity.... I'm gonna gift myself!

I have been a Star Wars fan since the very first one.... saw it in California in a great big theater... quite an experience. But it can't hold a candle to our Firefly... no way.

When my Mom and I came out of the first viewing of "Serenity", the first thing out of her mouth was " beats Star Wars!"

Not at all

1. Nerds buy everything
2. movie sales and tv sales are ranked separately

Actually Dreamtrove, some nerds want to buy everything but lack the financial means.

But I'll buy Serenity if I have to sell a kidney.

Heck, I've got two.
