I realy enjoyed Serenity. I think it was a wonderful followup on the series.

ill start with good things. The way Wash dies was great. It wasnt a stupid ill hold em off for as long as i can death, there were no commical last words, he just died. And he died at a moment where he was truely happy, He has just landed a spaceship with nearly no power saving his crew and home. I liked that they made a real reason for Reavers existing. the edge of the universe probably looks pretty similar to what it lookes like on earth. And going crazy and eating people isnt exactly a very logic way to go crazy. another thing i liked was that the Operative wasnt an evil person. He was simply doing what he thought was right to make a better universe, just like Mal.

While there was a great deal of good stuff there was also some bad stuff. they payed less attention to how stuff workes in space than they did in the show. In "The Message" the Fed ship fires a missile close to Serenity and there is no sound because the sound waves have nothing to travel threw. However in the movie at the space battle there is plenty of noise. In "Our Mrs. Renolds" Jayne says a gun needs oxygen around it to fire but when Mal fire the cannon at the Reaver ship he is in outside the ship and fires a gun. also were did Vera go.

There where several wonderful subtlties in serenity. when they have the talk about river after the bar fight Jayne is wearing a stolen alliance security coat. when Mal lookes at the screnes showing places the the Opperative has destroyed at the bottom of one of the screens it says that it's Whitefall.

Overall i think if was a great movie.

DONCOAT

During the space battle, the Operative makes his way to an escape pod. Two things I noticed:

- there is a sound effect in this scene that is eerily similar to the dissonant, rising-pitch crescendo at the end of the Beatles "A Day In the Life". (But there's no single piano chord to put the period on the sentence.)

- After the escape pod ejects, we see the Operative upside down. A nod to the similar scene with Darth Vader at the end of the original Star Wars?

Ain't about you, Jayne. It's about what they need.

another thing i noticed was when all the reaver ship come out of the ion cloud right before the big space battle one of them is the reaver ship from the first episode of firefly.

Actually, the space battle happens inside the ion cloud (which may very well be some type of micro-nebula, containing a medium to carry sound), and on the edge of atmosphere.

Jayne was referring to Vera specifically.
