I love the movie but I hated when Wash was killed.
What is going to happened in the sequel without Wash, Joss?.
My favorite character is Jayne.
He is a ninny but with testis made of brass.
Will the sequel be out by 2007, Joss?.
When is Firefly back as a regular program on TV?. I mean new episodes. Please don't let it die like it happened to Star Trek years ago. It became superpopular after it was canceled and then it was to late to revive it. Please.
Thank in advance for reply and comments.

I wouldn't expect a reply from the man himself...

Oh and you might want to put a spoiler warning at the top of the thread.

I don’t know if you’re actually trying to ask Joss a question, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for a reply. Although Joss does lurk on some of the fan boards, he only posts on Whedonesque or the Universal Board and even then only rarely.

As for sequels or a return to TV; well, in large part that’s a financial decision. And we are on very shaky ground financially--a sequel is by no means assured. If you want more Firefly/Serenity on either the big or small screens, please go see the movie again, recommend it to everyone you know, and buy the DVDs like mad when they come out. Otherwise we’ll never know how a sequel would work without Wash (and Book).

And on that note, it should be pointed out that Whedon’s motto on his other shows was “We kill you, you get more work.” And while he can’t bring anyone back as a vampire in the Serenity ‘verse, he has also used flashbacks, dreams, visions, hallucinations, and surrealism to let us see dead characters again. So, if there is a sequel, it’s safe to expect Wash and Book to turn up again in some form or another.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Whedon has said that all of the cast members are signed on for the next two movies. That means that all of the characters will be in the movies. It could be that they will be in flash backs, but I prefer the idea that Wash comes back as a ghost. He feels he can't leave the ship (after all, he never said goodbye to Zoe). The twist is that only River can see him. This works because River is a phsycic (she can sense emotions and see things) and it won't undermine Wash's death. And if you've ever seen Joss bring people back as ghosts before, they are NOT floating and NOT glowing. They really are good ghosts. Joss has also said that he wants to explore Books past more and has promised Ron Glass that they will. Whether that is in flashbacks or not is yet to be known.

"I'm like a leaf on the wind. Watch how i soar."
Wash, you were the best gorram pilot in the verse. Rest In Peace (and then come back again!!!)

Damn the spoilers :(

I had made it to an hour before I saw movie without any foreknowledge. Grrr.

Anyhow, I think the general idea was that this was the final movie. The last one. All new movies will be prequels. Joss had stated that it was to satiate the (maybe few) masses... just incase there wasn't enough support for the additional movies.

i disagree!!! The end of the movie totally spelled out a sequel, not a prequel. "The storm is getting worse." "Yeah, but we'll pass through it soon enough." The end leaves you with a sense of closure (just in case), but it means that it will only get worse, a giveaway that the next movie will be about it getting worse ... or something. Also, I REALLY don't want a prequel. Movies aren't as interesting if you know what's going to happen.

Well, they could always do a "you thought they were dead but they weren't" thing with Wash...for example they go back to the ship after killing the Reavers, Wash's body isn't there, they assume the Reavers did something heinous with it, and they go ahead and have the funeral...but wait! He wasn't dead and the Alliance found him and have him in some interrogation room just waiting to be rescued. Hollywood does stuff like that all the time...they even managed to bring Ripley back after she jumped into a flaming pit in the Aliens movies.

HISTORY

Came across these short prequel vignettes, showing River Tam being interviewed over time at "The Academy" (starring Summer Glau and, I believe, Joss Whedon).
I'm uncertain if this has been shared here, but for those who want an eerie treat: http://www.session416.com/

No spoilers.

Respectfully,
