This is just a fun vid, with some of my favorite Jayne scenes. Nothing too heavy, just some fist fights, guns, and the like. Head to my Firefly site and have a good time!

Gotta love our favorite bad boy.

Enjoy!

That is SO AWESOME, very nice work. I have a question though, i really want to get into this kinda stuff(i.e. vid. editing and such)where'd you learn to do it, or anyone else that knows how, same question, and also what software do you use? Thaxs!

Can you answer that question Karen?
Thaxs to you too.

Actually Pyro, I got my help off the boards too, so I'll give you advice any way I can. My method for making vids isn't the best, but it is definitely the cheapest. :) With the help of another board member, I learned about DVD Shrink 3.2 - it's available free online. That let's you capture the scenes from the DVDs. Then you need a program to transfer to the right file type - I was recommended to use VirtualDub for MPEGs. Also available for free online. Once I have those avi files, I open them in ShowBiz (came free with Windows NT), although you can use Windows Movie Maker. I don't like WMM, but if you don't use it, you'll have to transfer the Showbiz film to WMM to make the wmv file.

I realize this sounds like a lot of work, but once you figure it out, you'll move pretty quickly. There are also software and hardware for scene capturing - check out Best Buy.

I can give you more details and web sites - unfortunately I cannot locate the old thread that taught me how to do it (too old I guess). Email me or use AOL IM with questions. ksyrjama on AIM.

Good luck!
Karen

haha, nice work! :)

My one major criticism is the aspect ratio. Your video looks like it was smooshed from the sides, or stretched vertically.

If you're using Windows Movie Maker, try changing your settings:

Tools -> Options -> Advanced tab

In the Video Properties portion, change the aspect ratio to 16:9. That should match your video output the aspect ratio of the DVDs.

EDIT:

Nevermind, I just saw your reply. Guess you're not using WMM. :P

Naw, I know the sides could look better, but I kind of like it the way it is. I also recommend opening it in Full Screen, to get the full effect. I've always been strangly partial to the Showbiz program. Believe me, I understand that my work isn't up to everyone's par, but I'm quite proud, so who the heck cares?

Later, K

Pyro,

I forgot to mention - you need a lot of computer space to use my method. If you have a bit of cash to shell out - and not the space - I'd recommend purchasing the software. Other board members might have suggestions. My friends on "The Lost World" boards suggested Dazzle.

Again, good luck,
Karen
