May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Saw this at the official site.

Looks like Sci Fi passed on the show pretty quickly. Wonder why that is?

Anyway, I volunteered for the Brown Coat drive. Looks like the post card campaign is put on indefinite hold per this part of Kiba's post:

Quote:

At this point, Firefly's production companies (20th Century Fox Television and Mutant Enemy) are pursuing what avenues they believe are available. These avenues, however, would not benefit from the targeted mailing we've been using so far.

Looks like all we do now is stay visible, stay active on the websites, and be ready to move if Kiba comes up w/ a plan of action.

All we can do is keep the faith and hope that some TV exec out there somewhere pulls his head out of his or her butt long enough to see the potential of this great show.

Dang it! I just sent their programming dept an e-mail 5 minutes ago and now I see this!
Between Fox and their "Man vs Beast"/"Joe Millionaire" crap and Sci-Fi network passing on a science fiction show, I'm wondering what the hell is going on here!
I think with all of this support, the LEAST the weasles at Fox can do is to put all of the completed episodes of Firefly on DVD and a limited amount of VHS sets. (Hey, I can't afford a DVD player, but I do have a perfectly good VCR that I ain't gettin' rid of any time soon, ok?)

I totally agree w/ you TallGrrl, on many points. The plethora of "reality" shows on Fox, coupled w/ their cancellation of Firefly and total lack of good programming has me completely turned off to ever tuning them in again. You would think after all the grief they have caused, the least they could do is air those last three FF episodes.

Looks like I will break down and get the episodes off of Ebay unless someone here has them they are willing to share w/ someone who was not able to tape the show.

We'll, we're screwed. Even UPN wouldn't pick us up. "Oh I'm sorry, but this show actually as quality" is what I'm betting the reply was by UPN.

Sci fi wouldn't pick us up. WB hates Joss Unofficially.

This sucks. Bites the big one.

Doesn't Joss have to create a New show for Fox now or something. Can't wait to see what he pulls on us next!

And we're dead.

I had so much over-optimistic hope. And where did that hope fly? Oh yeah, right out the window.

Welp, at least we got 13 episodes. Not gonna give up the fight, but, hey... things look bad. Bad as in dead.

Not for FOX... for 20th Century Fox. That means it can be aired on a station that will give it a chance. Likely, this series will come as a Buffy spin-off... at least, that's what seems the most likely at this point.

This has been a particularily dark day, as Bonnie "Dropping The" Hammer cut Babylon 5 permenantly out of the rotation, replacing it with:

OLD KNIGHT RIDER RERUNS!

Hey..don't get me wrong..I liked KR...when I was 8. But it's not sci-fi, it's Fluff-Fi. But the whole damn network is going that way.

Hey Bonnie...way to go, building up your network by alienating the core fanbase that supported you for years!!!

I hereby name Gail "Quality? Buh..what that?" Berman, Dawn "Damn my niz-ame is too damn liz-ong! Suh-nap!" Tartifuwhatsimicalit and Bonnie "Sci-fi is what I say it is, you wretched little freaks!" Hammer as the Three Wyrd Witches that Forever Ruined Television.

(P.S. The Dawn part in quotes wasn't meant to be racist. I just find it offensive that a bunch of white folk are trying to build up UPN as a hip-hop network by pandering to the lowest black denominator in the same way Fox tries to pander to the lowest WHITE common denominator. Firefly was a WONDERFUL model of color-blind diversity. My god, the most moral character was a strong black man, and there was a successful and loving interracial marriage! What the hell were you smoking, lady?)

smokin' crack, most likely.
i wholeheartedly agree with you.
but, hey, i'm black and i can't stand the pandering that passes for programming at UPN and WB and i don't care who is responsible, black or white. and Fox with their right-wing-war-mongering "news" and realitycrap programming, is pretty much unwatchable (other than 24 and Bernie Mac) as far as i'm concerned.

SOB's is right! I sat down to address 20 more postcards and when I logged on to get the addresses, I find there's no more need for postcards.

Makes you want to find some network exec and FLICK them in the forehead, maybe fire the synapses again.

Yeah, I have about 20 postcards addressed to the Sci-Fi channel.

Aw, what the hell, I think I'll mail them anyway. At least it'll be more mail they have to sort through at their end.

So.. I popped over to scifi.com to see the latest news for myself, and what should I see as the top banner? An ad for "Tremors: the Series." Oy. Wow. Talk about your intelligent science fiction.

Ah, well, I don't know why I'm surprised by anything Sci-Fi does lately.

I don't know what the "minds" (please note heavy sacrcasm) are thinking over at the Sci Fi Channel. They turn down Firefly, but they are going to run the archaic, non sci fi Knight Rider?!? What are the thinking?!? Tremors: the Series?!? What, was the 2nd & 3rd movies not bad enough they have to make it a series???

Has anyone seen the "original" movies that they are playing on Sci Fi, like Dragon Fighter? I know Dean Cain needs a job pretty bad, but what was he thinking?!? I saw 30 minutes of it and then wished I had that time back to do something more constructive, like watch paint dry.

Looks like the Powers that Be at the Sci Fi Channel are going to run that network into the ground when you consider they passed up Firefly for shows like Knight Rider and Tremors the Series.
