I know we're all concerned about Firefly being resurrected. I've already seen the movie three times and I still don't think it's enough. In trying to spread the word, I went to the closest Future Shop (Best Buy for all you U.S. folks) to get season One on DVD. They're totally sold out throughout the city. Same with Wal-Mart and I even went to Blockbuster to rent it and they're all rented.

I think even if the movie doesn't exceed expectations, Season One DVD sales and movie DVD sales may be enough to bring it back. We still have time to spread the word. Good luck!

Yeah, this is true. I talked a friend of fine into buy a set of DVDs. He called around town and had a devil of a time finding a store that had any in stock because they were all sold out.
Keep in mind this is Los Angeles, not some backwater place.

He tried Best Buys,B&N,Tower,Borders, Wal-mart, Target, and the same story, sold out. He finally found a Suncoast that had one copy left. One thing the movie has done is move these DVDs off the shelves.

Not only is it hard to find in stores, the Firefly DVD set is (at the moment) number 5 on Amazon's DVD Top Seller list and number 4 at Barnes&Noble.com. The movie seems to be generating furious interest in the TV show. I'm actually hopeful that we might see Serenity and crew back on the small screen again. How shiny would that be?

Firefly set is #2 at Deepdiscountdvd.com, the SE of Cinderella is number 1. I can handle being second to a Disney classic.

Firefly was #1 at amazon in TV for a week after Serenity's release. I see that it's slipped. Must get those people to buy more DVDs. Bigger Harder Moths.

Wow, thanks . That was good to hear. Morale is kinda low around here these days. Well, lower. My friend in San Francisco was trying to rent the DVD set at the main library but hasn't had any luck for quite a while now (though he could be lying to me about how much effort he's putting into it). So I think this is a sign that, at the very least, Serenity will take a while to fade out of theaters.

I'm from Australia, and I'm having trouble getting hold of a copy of the DVDs for some friends that I turned into rabid fans...

I posted earlier that everyone should buy from amazon to boost up the sales rank, but if barnes and noble has a sales rank or borders, that too is good. Buying on ebay doesn't leave much a sales rank. Walmart will probably record the sale, but they're evil. I guess all purchases work. Positive actual reviews with actual 10s and a review, not just a rating on IMDb helps. I'm pretty sure they ignore number only votes without reviews attached when counting up the total score. Anyone can look at the full vote distribution on IMDB for serenity and see it is a 9.1, so it's lack of positive reviews bringing it down.

Well, over here in England, all the DVD box sets are still on shelves, havnt moved much where i live anyway.
But as i bought my dvd set on day of release a few years ago, i dont have to worry, i like it, so thats enough for me.

The word over here just doesnt have seem to have worked on the dvd side. Nobody is buying them, at least not in stores anyway.

I introduced my girlfriend to my Firefly dvds the other month to prepare her for the movie, she loved it. Infact, she loved everything about it because it was so different to what she had seen on the sci-fi side for years.

Theres some hope yet.

Just as an FYI,

I've noticed that Serenity has been the top searched movie for several weeks now at Zap2it.com

People are looking into it. Sometimes it just takes awhile for the word to get around.

Take heart folks, "It ain't over till it's over".

Am I a Lion?... No, I think I'ma tellin' the truth.
