I'm well aware that Serenity would have to make a certain amount of money to fully justify a second movie or a new series...but if they should choose to make either just from the sheer support of the fan base, which one would be better?

On one hand, they could make another movie and potentially end everything in a two hours span, but dazzle us even more with the greatness that is the Firefly universe.

However, I have to say a new series would be nice. For one, since we lost Wash and Book, we all have a sore spot that needs to be somewhat healed. So introduction of some new cast would be great. Not to mention get some closure on Chloe's grief. I'd personally like to see the ongoing conflict between what's left of the Alliance and everyone else. A new movie just wouldn't allow for such an in depth story.

Or maybe both...

Since Wash and Book were lost in the movie would'nt be ok to keep them in the series?

1) SPOILER!

2) I have always thought that TV is the better medium for Firefly/Serenity. It has always been about the story, dialogue, etc. over a longer timeframe. I'll take both, though!

Also LOVED the BDM, and for those who haven't seen it yet,

3) SPOILER!

You might want to edit the title for the post...

What the Puck!? (Sorry, couldn't help myself!)

Keeping the faith.

I can't believe you guys didn't think to announce that there were spoilers in this thread. I'm so pissed. I've been waiting for a break in my work schedule so that I can go see Serenity...and avoiding spoilers like the plague...but geeking out on the web to feed my jones.

Way to go. Thanks. I think I hate you.

Problem with new series is that Fox gets first dibs. At 1-2 million per ep it would be cheaper than a new movie, and it might make more money. Currently Season 1 (like the sound of that) is #5 on Amazon, was #4, 5 star rating with 1700 reviews.

No, the movie took place six months after the Firefly espisode "Objects in space," so basically what happens in the movie essentially would have happened in the series too.

I prefer another season to another movie. I'll take 20 hours of content over 2 hours any day. The slower telling of the story via television seems to fit this universe better. I wouldn't mind another feature film, but why not give us a couple of TV seasons between films.

Overwhelmingly a return to being a TV series would be preferred. Even with the damage the movie has done I think a series would be loved by almost all the fans of Firefly.

All they need to do is work out the financial issues with Fox.

Yeah I hope they do a sequel and continue the series, but either way River still would have to be the deadliest weapon aboard Serenity (and probably most the verse lol) and have a bigger role when it comes to Mal and Zoe doing job's.

I would prefer a tv series myself, just can't get enough. And if Mal didn't include River in jobs, he might have to have someone check his brainpan for emptiness.

Well I loved how Mal takes River on a job in Serenity to use her "ability" to see danger coming. So River having the psychic trait and the "Can take out a room in 3 min" trait, she is almost unstopable lol

I don't think I'm the only one hoping for a continuation of this amazing story. I'm addicted, and I'll admit I've been craving a Firefly fix for quite a while.
The movie did a lot, but did it do enough? I think instead, the Sci-Fi channel reruns of the original series are doing more to promote the story. The movie was almost too intense for people new to the series, as my friends testified after I dragged them there.

I hate to say it, but with the disappointing box office success of Serenity... we may not see a lot more of our beloved crew. Let's just hope things pick up in the next few weeks, to prove to Universal and Fox that Firefly Fans are still here, and still waiting for more.

Come on... face the facts people!

Another two hour movie wouldn't satisfy anyones long term Firefly/Serenity needs. The moment the sequel comes out, there will be people here saying, "just one more sequel."

The smart Browncoat will be lobbying for a new series... preferably on Sci-Fi. The Sci-Fi Channel has a lot of shows I consider to be pure television pollution... They'd be complete idiots not to take a show like Firefly under their wing... especially when there's a huge fan-base already established.

Plus I've heard plenty about the cast themselves talking about how they'd rather return to television than get another movie green-lit.

Look at Star Trek... it bounced back from a shitty first feature film, and struck gold with The Next Generation... Firefly/Serenity could have a bright future ahead of it on TV...

If Joss is able to bring Firefly back as a TV series there are a number of things that need "fixing" from the movie. I'd be tempted to suggest Joss just pretends the movie never happenned!

First of all bring back Book and Wash.

Next a rationalization needs to be implemented as to why River isn't used constantly as the "super psychic" and "uber ninja". I like her development as a pilot but seriously the movie went too far with her abilities (now that Mal can talk to her reasonably).

No matter what the issues and problems though I'd dearly love to have Firefly back as an ongoing series.

I agree, I would much rather have a new season on TV than another film. It would have a whole lot more story in it and that is what i want. But dont get me wrong, I still loved the BDM!!!
