i just saw the movie today haven't been on the site for 10 days to remain spoilerless as its out in ireland later than elsewhere (it kicked ass btw).

now onto the planets. I have been playing risk alot recently and realised how easy it would be to create a custom map for it.
so can anyone provide me with the names or (any of the names) of the planets in the firefly solar system?
if you know any of them i would be glad for some imput.

thanks.

WASH: Little River just gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next?
ZOE: Either blow us all up or rub soup in our hair. It's a toss-up.
WASH: I hope she does the soup thing. It's always a hoot, and we don't all die from it.

EMBERS

in the companion (no, not Inara's type...) book:
"SERENITY:The Official Visual Companion"
they have the enitre original script Joss wrote
PLUS
a lot of extras including a chart w/all the planets listed in little tiny lettering and very pretty pictures...
the two biggest planets are Sihnon and Londinum
I couldn't scan it because the lettering is too small,
but I recommend getting the book (it is full of cool goodies)!

Here are the names I can make out from the chart in the Visual Companion:

Londinium
Sihnon
Beylix
Greenleaf
Hera
Border Moons
Osiris
Jiang Yin
Dyton
Ita
Verbena
Angel
Boros
Higgins' Moon
Ezra
Bellerophon
Athens
Whitefall
Haven
Three Hills
Deadwood
Newhall
Lilac
Paquin
Salisbury
Aberdeen
Whittier
Muir
St. Albans
Kerry
Highgate
Harvest
Regina
Bernadette
Persephone
Shadow
Liann Jiun
Ariel
Beaumonde
Silverhold
Santo

Some uncertain spellings fixed (see posts below).

The chart is titled "Worlds of the Alliance". It gives no indication of which are planets and which are moons (except when the name includes "moon"). Beylix is the only one shown with rings.

And, of course, there's one name we know about that's not on the chart.

I too had trouble in the type with one of them. The other two were clear enough on my copy of the companion.

Beylix (?)

Yup.

Prouin (?)

Paquin. (They referenced Paquin in "Out of Gas". It's where they're supposed to be going for a job when Bester can't fix the engine and Mal hires Kaylee. It sure looked like PROUIN at first glance. I had to compare the letters with other planet names to be sure it was an "A" and not an "R", and the tail on the "Q" is barely visible, so it looks like an "O".)

Santo (?)

Yup.

Haven is a whole planet/moon? I thought it was just a little place that Book set up, on a planet or moon.
It seems to be that the distinction between cities and entire bodies in space is seldom made. I figured Persephone was a city not a planet/moon.
hmmm...there is no emoticons for confusion...

Well, of course, it's possible for there to be a planet, and a city on that planet, with the same name.

In the case of Persephone we know Serenity visited the Eavesdown Docks, so maybe that city is Eavesdown. I'm just sayin'...

At some point when I have a lot of free time (yeah, right) I'd like to figure out which of the planets/moons on that list have been visited or mentioned over the course of the series/movie.

For instance, I didn't catch it in the theater, but apparently the first place Serenity lands in the movie (won't mention what happens there so no spoilers) is Lilac. That's mentioned in the novelization.

Thanks, I'll go back and edit my list if it'll still let me. I think I remember the Paquin reference in OoG too, but I would never have made that out in the VC.
