LOSTCAUSE

I've never posted here before, but I've been a fan of the show since "Train Job" first aired by in 2002. Just to be up front, this idea popped into my head while watching my second viewing of "Serenity" tonight:

If $$ is what matters to those execs that determine life and death of a sequel, then what we need to do is give them something their eyes can feast on. It may be too late, I don't know, but we can't not try anything at this juncture. Sometimes the best causes worth fighting for are lost causes. I should know; I'm a teacher.

Here's what my idea is: Next Saturday is Oct 15. All Browncoats need to make a FULL-FORCE showing on that Saturday, any time, any showing, just on that day to give the numbers a major boost. Let's call it our last big push.

The last lines of the movie struck me in an unusual way. Mal told River that love keeps the ship flying. Maybe Joss and crew were trying to tell us something. Maybe they were telling us thanks, and keep it up. Let's show the love and keep "Serenity" flying high and on into a sequel.

How 'bout it? Saturday, any time, any theater. And if we're serious about it, how 'bout a double dip? Go for Sunday if you're dead set on it. I don't know about y'all, but I'm ready to shake some trees and misbehave.

Sometimes the best causes worth fighting for are lost causes.

Love the enthusiasm, and it is a good good idea (I'll be there), but... that's kinda what we were goin' for this weekend.

Still, those who can should keep it up. Decent, long-term attendance can keep the film in theaters, where the uninitiated can find it (and then become converted and go buy the DVDs). And LostCause, I hope you stick around. Whatever these next few months bring us, we'd be glad to have you here.

I agree, there was a post in another thread that said its not usually the money, its how long it was in theaters. So, i say we need not nessisarly be so worried about how much money its bringing in, although thats a definate plus, but just that its shows enough potential to keep it in theaters as long as possible. This will Show Universial that its deserves more.

Whatever works. I'm planning on talking it up with folk and calling some old friends who are also Browncoats in other parts of the country. Today, tomorrow, heck we'll make it every day if needs be. How 'bout?

DONCOAT

Don't worry, LostCause. The Browncoats are out there and doing what they can.

(Welcome, by the way).

My own example: four viewings so far. Bought extra ticket for yesterday's show. Gave money-back guarantee to numerous people, including an entire Astronomy forum I hang out on. Talked up the movie with everybody I know (in RL and online).

Now, I don't say I've done as much as some. But there have to be a lot of folks like me out there. I'd like to think the word is spreading.

Certainly one big showing would be nice, and I'm up for it.

I still think the important part is to make sure it lasts, but lets do this.

You have a week to try to get anyone you can to go to the theaters this Saturday, everyone do it.

No one get hopes up, but even if it does not make huge numbers across whatever parts of the globe the show is open in the more important part might be individual in nature, if a theater has every showing sold out, even if it is only for one day, they might be more inclined to keep the show in theaters longer.

Here's a big thing though, if it drops to near nothing the next day that won't help at all. No one will want to keep it if they think it was a last blast and then it ended.
