I am sick and fucking tired of the excuse making and the cry baby antics going on around here. This thread is to brain storm some real solutions.

It is officially time to ask for help. We alone cannot spend our entire paychecks on this film to artificially make it look like more people are seeing it, than that are.

We need help!! But who could, or would? Let's try displaced Sci-Fi fans! Oh yeah I said it. It's time to whore ourselves to the masses.

There are millions of Sci-Fi fans out there, that have either been turned off by the rabid scary fanbase we sometimes can be, or who saw 'from the creator of Buffy and Angel' and busted out laughing. It is time to plea our case.

My solution? Hit the message boards en masse.

Sci Fi has a board for every show they air, it's time to start begging Farscape and Stargate fans for their help. We need the Roswell fans and Dark Angel fans. We need the Harry Potter people, the Lord of the Rings people and the Star Wars fans. We need their help, and there is no time like the present to ask. We need to hit up the Wonderfalls and The Inside boards we need to find more potential fans and hook them. What about Carnivale fans, Deadwood even?

One fan (Blinker) out there made a 50 reasons to see Serenity poster, it is here: http://www.slidersweb.net/serenity/

Post the link! It has the link to the 9 minute sneak preview and every awesome review we've gotten. Post this link in every damn message board you come accross. Don't be pushy, just post something to the effect of "Do you like movies? Check thit out:"

We don't want to scare off potential viewers, but we need to try something.

The Farscape fans and other fans of equally cancelled shows have always been there to help us, now we need them to carry us a little further.

We need to ask for help, and we need to do it nicely. None of this scary crap, no hard core pushing, just a plain and simple, hey this movie is good, if you like Sci-fi you'll love this.

What about college campuses? High School Campuses? They all have bulletin boards for stuff, hang some flyers on them! Grocery Stores, and Wal-mart and video stores too. Print up the above flyer or another one, 11th Hour has some great guerrilla marketing posters at: http://the11thhour.home.att.net/ and post them everywhere!!

On Thursday I sent an email to all my co-workers urging them to check out the film. Have you?

I offered a money back guarantee to my friends and family to go see the movie. If they hate it all they have to do is mail me their ticket stub and I will write them a check for the price of the ticket. I have yet to see a single stub.

What's your mom or grandma or dad or grandpa doing? Take them on a date! I took my dad on Friday and he loved it! Family members are a great way to find people to go (cos they love you and will go just for that). I'm sure grannie would love to see you and get out of the house! Nieces or Nephews? Take them! You remember being a little kid and having someone take you to Star Wars, well make a memory for them! Matinees are an affordable way to go, and rarely do people have day-time plans! Take your kids and their friends to see it!

Got any other positive ideas? Got any other positive comments? Put them here. If you want to be a troll and say mean things, and bitch and moan, find another thread. This thread is about solutions to keep this movie in the theaters!! The longer its out there, the more people will see it, the more money it will make, the better off we all will be!

We Hold Damnit!

Inspired by your post, I pimped it thusly:

I've got fifty reasons you should see Serenity. ( http://slidersweb.net/serenity/)

Are you a fan of SF at all? Have you read Ender's Game? Of course you've read Ender's Game. Orson Scott Card saw Serenity, and this ( http://hatrack.com/osc/reviews/everything/2005-09-30-extra.shtml) is what he thought:

Quote:

This is the kind of movie that I have always intended Ender's Game to be (though the plots are not at all similar).

And this is as good a movie as I always hoped Ender's Game would be.

And I'll tell you this right now: If Ender's Game can't be this kind of movie, and this good a movie, then I want it never to be made.

I'd rather just watch Serenity again.

Serenity is funny, and scary, and sad. It's intense and meaningful and as personal at times as it is epic at others. This is what Star Wars was in the 70's; this is what Star Wars should have been in the 00's. It's not much to say that this is the best SF film of 2005, considering the competition, but I'll go one further: this is the best SF film of the decade.

Do yourself a favour. See this film. Foreknowledge of Firefly would help, sure, but it's not a prerequisite: if you love science fiction and you love a good story, you'll love Serenity.

I think we have the best chance with Star Trek fans. There are no new Trek shows or movies and there won't be any for quite a while. Plus a lot Trek fans are disenfranchised by Enterprise. Firefly/Serenity could fill that void at least until they make a new Trek series.

I think this is a great idea, and I have already posted on one of the Star Trek discussion forums.

I seem to remember that some of our folk were downright rude when fans of other series (Star Trek, Farscape) came knocking on our door for help, so I've avoided any pleas for "help save us".

Monday morning bump for publicities sake, cos I am a whore like that!

Good Job guys! I plan to pimp this evening and I printed up some 50 Reasons... posters to ut in conspicuous places.

Anyone notice that the thread for positive ideas and suggestions is just not nearly as popular as the one where bitching and moaning and finger pointing is done? The hi-larity of this is not beyond me...
