Hi Emma!

Nice to meet you too! I think I might opt for the lost, bemused and dazed expression. I doubt that that would be too hard for me to pull off.

There are so many from this board going that it will probably be a task NOT to find you all.

I did the same thing as you Fray, I bought a group pic off one of the stands and got Adam to sign it. There's a whole lot of space just waiting to be signed! I hope it's legit.

No word on if the Radisson is booked up yet anyone????

humans! the world is a funny place and I can't remember why. I started writing this ages ago but work got in the way and now my brain is dead.

I do know that I was going to write back to Serenity - yep I went out with Greek twice. Great bloke, very funny and slightly naughty in a charming way. He had me in stiches more than once - I don't want him to go back. In fact I shall kidnap him and lock him in a cupboard!

So... the BDM isn't quite breaking all the records we wanted. But remember: this is a special weekend.

It's the very important "second weekend" in the US.

It's the opening weekend here in the UK.

So together we need to keep the profile raised and the box office figures high, despite the not unexpected slump over the last week and the really quite poor "other famous people" turnout at the UK premiere. We're still getting excellent reviews for the BDM, so it's not a failure.

In other news... I think my "Joss Whedon Is My Master Now" T-Shirt has arrived at home! So I'll be able to watch it tomorrow when I go see the movie!

And when I see it again on Saturday... and with some people (one of whom will have already seen it) on Monday.

No sign of my Team Random mug yet, as far as I know.

I've worked out that I can be held responsible for about 16 people going to see Serenity. I'm very proud

Emma-I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to return my Greek! Or, if you must kidnap him and keep him in a cupboard, let him have a laptop so he can email me. That's all I ask.
I'm glad you've been having a good time!

Sean: I must ask: what inspired you to purchase a grumpy 4 foot long california corn snake? I'm just curious. How's the bite? You gonna live? And have you found out about your laptop yet? Are they gonna replace it?

A friend of mine in uni did that. She spilled a Dr. Pepper on her laptop and completely fried the whole thing. She'd only had it a month or so, too. But it was covered under her warrenty and she got a brand new one for free.

Today's Thursday! Isn't the premiere tomorrow for you all? Excitement! I have to try to go see the movie at least twice this weekend. Not sure how to go about that, yet, seeing as the nearest theater's a good 45 minute drive. But I will because I must because I want a sequel.

Well, nice to see that the "proper" Serenity 2 thread has turned into another random one. As punishment I'm not going to show you any of my lovely photos from the premiere or signing today! Consider youselves all suitably chastized.

(However, I will just say that I got a hug from Summer's mum. That woman really does need her own fanclub!).

Tee-hee. That's FUNNY.

I lived in Florida, so I'm kind of inerred to the whole gator/snake thing. I once saw a 8 foot rattler at the beach. I was in a car, thank goodness. I've also had brushes with gators and water moccasins. You kind of get used to it, weird as it sounds.

But still-it exploded! That is so FUNNY!

Hi everybody.

Guess what? I can't find a single browncoat anywhere near me that wants to go see the movie again so I have to go see it BY MYSELF! Can you believe it? How much does that suck? *pout*

Ah, seen it again.

Just as good. Better, even, now I've got more brain spare to divert my attention 'tween more than one part of the screen at once.

Just as brilliant, just as funny, just as scary, just as tense, just as sad, just as tragic as the first time.

Mind you, it was on one of the smaller (smallest maybe?) screens at Derby's UCI, it was about a third full at best, and there were no posters for Serenity anywhere that I could see in the whole place. Bit rubbish, really.

No one even commented on my browncoat, or my Joss Whedon T-shirt!

We'll see how Chesterfield's Cineworld does tomorrow, and how Basingstoke's Vue treats the BDM on Monday.

Where in the spector o' hell are y'all?!

Out watchin' the Big Damn Movie I hope!

I saw it again today... it still catches me with it's marvelousness, it's emotion.

I walked into Chesterfield's cinema today, and the girl at the counter smiled as I approached and asked for my ticket.

"I would've thought you were going to see 'Price And Prejudice' with a T-shirt like that," she said to me.

I looked down at my chest, where the words 'Joss Whedon Is My Master Now' were emblazoned in white on black.

"You'd have thought so," I replied, "wouldn't you?"

And I keep spotting new tidbits of interestingness like...

Select to view spoiler:

...when River says "He didn't lie down. They never lie down" about the reaver that got on Serenity. As in him being one of the tenth of a percent that didn't lie down and sleep and die on Miranda.

I really liked that when I noticed it.

Then there's...

Select to view spoiler:

...River's comment in the locker: "Show me off like a dog, old men covered in blood - it never touched them, but they're drowning in it." I never realised she was talking about the 'key members of parliament' who had been to see them.

I like clever things.

Im home, but gosh have I been busy. Ive been to see the BDM 5 times now, and thats going to be six in a few hours. Im also going tommorrow, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday too!

Been taking lots of people!

Last night, I went to see it with some friends from the con up at the Vue cinema in Leicester Square, and in the queue outside, we got about 15 people to change their minds and go and see Serenity! Its a lot easier when theres a group of you, then your not just one crazy person!

And the cinema was almost packed, and it was a big one too! And they all laughed so hard too! And there was a resident gasp followed by silence at you-know-what.

Well, don't know about everyone else but I left the cinema in a state of catatonic shock.

I'm currently in the Channel Islands so the very first screening was at 4 pm on a friday. Needless to say, the cinema was quiet. Some might go so far as to say positively echoey.

There were four other people in the cinema (oh god how I miss the huge screens of England) which made it a little embarrassing when I was the only one to whimper over loudly at certain parts.

Still, I will be single handedly boosting the cinema attendance record for the island in the next few days.

Now, down to my Q; What sort of guest talks are there?? Does anyone have a sort of itinerary on what is being said when? What else goes on during the days?

I have got to seriously get my act together, i haven't booked ANYTHING because I'm still on the fence about going.

Answers: Guest talks are indiviudal, pair and group. The matching depends on the number of guests, the confidence of the guests and the dynamic between the guests (and to a point, the characters). The itinerary isn't fully decided until very late. There is often a rough idea a few weeks before but this is never finalised until closer to the time and very often this changes at the last minute as guests pull out and others take their place.

During the day there are signings and photos. On top of this there is the dealers room. Of course you can always stay in bed so you have more energy for the parties, or make friends with all the people loitering around the bar. You can also volunteer as a steward which is great if you have never been to a con before but can be a bit dull if you do it more than once. (Opinion only, some people love stewarding and do it every time - good for them but not for me.)

Hurry up and book!

"My God - you're like a trained ape. Without the training."
"Come a day there won't be room for naughty men like us to slip about at all..."

Blimey.

There's an echo it's so quiet and empty around here.

I'm here Rel! And I've got a bad case of the Mondays so I could use as much randomness and vodka filled chocolates I can get!

I can't wait to see pictures! Guys in tuxes, girls in slinky dresses! How I wish I could join you all.

'Allo.

Hollyday here in the US, so having a quiet time of it. Tomorrow my wife goes back to work after two weeks off; I don't envy her having to get back into the swing of things.

Team Random mugs are ueber-shiny! We use them often and they're our new favorites.

Talked a couple more people into seeing the BDM this past weekend; total virgins to the 'verse, and they loved it immensely. I can't explain why the box office take isn't better, except the world is populated by backbirths who don't know good from dreck, and the human herd needs serious culling. I volunteer to do some of the work.

I hope your convention is at least double the good times you hope for!

I don't know what your problem is, but I bet it's hard to pronounce.

No hollydaying for me. "(

But I did get to go out for lunch and got white pizza-yum!

Good for you for bringing more people. I wish I could drag some people to the theaters! Oy, it's frustrating.

Need help culling the herd?

I wonder if we've got any chocolate stashed around here anywhere.

*checks nooks and crannies of thread. Finds nothing. Shakes out TWG's sleeping bag. Finds Frankenberry crumbs.*

Where are the ninja monkeys when you need them?

I actually burned eight more hours of accumulated vacation time in order to get today off. After a year of taking hardly any vacations I've had a goodly bit put by, even after that week in Florida. Anne works for a bank so she had it off as a matter of course.

BDM on DVD in time for Xmas? Sounds shiny! Gonna be a bit late for sending as gifts, though.

I envision this: A queue of ninja monkeys--nay, a veritable processional. They bear a large throne; seated thereupon is a life-sized chocolate effigy of--you guessed it--Alan. Upon closer inspection it would be learned he's actually hollow and filled with a vodka-based syrup.

Whadya think: Too over the top?

No! Not over the top. Perched right on the very apex, right where it should be!

Bring on the throne-bearing Ninja Monkeys and their vodka syrup filled life sized Chocolate Alan!

AURELIANO

Hello everyone!!
Gosh it's good to be back after such a long break. Have been trying to get this blasted internet set up in my flat, enrolling in new courses and sorting out society business.
Oh yeah... and there was some movie that came out and more or less crashed the FFF server for a week and a half.

But yay! As in chocolate-covered ninja monkeys kind of YAY! Seen the BDM three times now (once a few weeks back at that final advanced screening in Glasgow, and twice over this here past weekend). Good times all around! Serenity is only playing in one of the small screens at our local (quite fittingly) independent cinema, and it only seats about 150. But it's been sold-out for every screening since Friday, and I've been able to convice lots of wavering cinema-goers to see Serenity after missing their intended Oliver Twist or W & G.
Also (finally) met fellow uni Browncoats, so hopefully we'll host lots of shindigs throughout the year. OH! And was able to somewhat convert an anti-Whedonite Alien-fanatic, who felt bitter and twisted about him apparently ruining the franchise with the script for Alien:Res.

*plonks himself down into a comfortable chair* Weekend over. Mission accomplished.

Anyway, back to randomness! Hope you are all well, and that your absence is Serenity-related.

I do have a question though before I depart and get some well-earned sleep:
Which do you think would make a more lasting impression at S2: Black-tie kilt attire, or my pair of Mongolian wrestling pants?
(serious answers and/or suggestions only in haiku form please)
