It's that time of year again, time for the PA Shindig to make it's triumphant return. It will be held on October 8-9th this year and I'm hoping to make it even bigger and better than last year.

When? October 8th late morning to October 9th late afternoon

Am I invited? Yes, yes you are. But don't forget to fill out the RSVP form at the website so I know you're
coming and check out the "Menu" and "How to Help" pages to help out.

Why? Umm...for fun. :) And to celebrate the BDM and all things Firefly/Serenity.

What will we do? Well, we'll shindig in fine style with a BBQ, fun games with super prizes, chat it up with other browncoats, make s'mores and best of all WATCH FIREFLY PROJECTED HUGE ONTO THE SIDE OF A BARN!

I wrote you an email about the shindig awhile ago, why didn't you write me back? Well, funny story, I was checking my emails when I was way too sleepy to be operating a computer and I clicked a wrong button and deleted probaly about 6 emails from people asking about the shindig. Oops! Just email me back and I'll be happy to not be an idiot an delete your email...again. Really, I'll write ya back. Sorry about not getting back to y'all before.

How many people will be there? Well last year there were upwards of 45 people. This year is looking like it may be a bit bigger but only 30 people have filled out the RSVP form so far, but I know some of you are just procrastinating on that form. PLEASE fill it out now if you plan on coming so that I can be sure to buy enough food, and rent enough tables and chairs.

How do I get directions? Directions will be posted on the shindig website a week before the shindig. And I can always be reached by email if you have a question about directions/location.

ETA:
To any and all lurking BDH, you are also most certainly invited. It is a very low key event. Kinda like a browncoat block party but with more giggling uncontrollably at charades and then there's that whole watching Firefly episodes 20 ft tall on the side of a barn thing. :)

PA shindig '04 alum here! Last year's shindig was such a great event that I am planning to attend again this year. I am normally a pretty shy person, but the shindig vibe was very casual and the Browncoats that I met there were so friendly that I quickly got to know tons of new people. I really enjoyed myself. And I cannot overstate how cool it is to watch FF under the stars on the side of a HUGE barn. And the smores were yummy, too (if I do say so myself

).

I can't wait to enjoy another relaxing Browncoat weekend in the beautiful Eastern PA countryside (is is unbelievably green there) munching on smores and drinking Firefly wine!

Um, as soon as I'm sure that we have permission for extra teenagers (now there might be TWO more teenagers...) and can figure out transportation and sleeping arrangements (would 4 teenagers in one tent constitute safety in numbers or invite xperimentations of the orgy kind????) then you will be the first to know!

A few days ago, I was ready to tell you that we'd have one more kid, with one more small tent. Now, we might go for two more kids, no more tents because we'd just substitute a bigger tent. But, like I said, have to iron out logistics, parental worries.

Give me until end of weekend, k?

P.S. Tried to respond to your post yesterday, but FFF site out of whack. We are so popular now!

Lookit all the fun we're going to have! If it rains, do we get to have a "Sculpture of Jayne" contest? Also, in view of MOH's recent injury, I say we build the girl a fancy carrying litter, you know, like Cleopatra had, and we take turns transporting her from scheduled activity to scheduled activity.

Imagine: She can sit up on high, waving at Browncoats and overseeing the Shindig. Wouldn't that be nice?

Fear not, Browncoats! The weather may be forecasted to be a bit damp but we shall deal no problem. The shindig will go on.

Parking will be aokay. We can park all up the street. AND there is a parking lot less than a 1/2 mile away that we can use. We'd just have to shuttle people back and forth is all. But it's worth it if it means no one stuck in the mud. :)

I just got off the phone and I have rented not one but TWO HUGE PARTY TENTS. We will all be under shelter and fine. :) Of course it means you need to spend more at the DVD auction since the tents were a bit costly. Manageable but costly.

Also, to all CAMPERS, you can pitch your tents under the party tents right before bed. That should cut down on the chance of your tent leaking and you getting wet. Two tents overhead are better than one. :)
