Alright, I'm new here and I'm a new fan of Firefly. I missed it back on Friday nights on Fox, but I've been a Whedon fan for years. I'm kind of glad my first viewing of the show was on DVD, since I got to see it in order, the way it was meant to be aired.

Anyway, I just think we should try and push this damn movie as much as freaking possible up until and through next weekend. Talk to people, let people borrow DVD sets, go post on forums, LiveJournal communities. Get creative.

Then if you can, post the results of what you did here, whether it's a link or just a story.

I know some people (including myself) are worried about Into the Blue. I mean it has talk shows like Leno behind it, a big name (and hot) actress from a great show that was cancelled in favor of the very show our movie is based on.

So we should whore this movie out to everyone to push GOOD filmmaking, GOOD writing, GOOD direction and a lack of overused CGI. So uh, yeah. There you go. :]

WHITEFALL

Well I for one foisted my DVDs onto someone else for this, the last weekend before the movie comes out... Hopefully she'll like em.

So far I have met one other person who recognized the movie when the subject of movies came up... he was actually gonna go see it because of the trailer being funny n stuff!

I survived a day in Whitefall and all I got was this lousy signature!

the summer i left for college (last summer) i got my entire friend base from high school to see this. I talked of it and used chinese sayings and got people interested. There were at least 3 different showing of all the episodes with new recruitments of each time. I explained the show was cancelled...they shared anger. I told them of the film, they rejoyiced (sp?). There was a method to my madness, now all those people are off to college..new place...NEW RECRUITS! I started a web of people now spanning from mid-northern california to the southern border of california.

Not to mention i themed my myspace:

I'll do my part, but happily I don't know how hard I'll have to work - I tried to get tickets today and the first three days of showings had already sold out at the nearby theaters. Luckily my wife found a theater at the other end of town that had some 12:01 a.m. tickets - w00t!

But like I said I'll push this show good and hard. Maybe I can even get my stubborn brother to go see it! He has an odd aversion to all things Joss, because he's a contrary kind of guy and refuses to like anything lots of other people like.

I just lent my DVD set to a co worker. Actually, it was kind of an accidental recruitment.

I work at a TV station that has a locally produced entertainment program, kind of like Access Hollywood. One of my co workers, (who was editing some of the tapes for this show) noticed that I was looking for Serenity pics on photobucket and asked if I was going to see the movie. I said of course and then she told me that she was so excited they made a movie out of Buffy. BUFFY? No, no I explained the only thing Buffy has in common with Serenity is Joss Whedon. The movie is based on a show called Firefly. She then told me that, no, the show is based on Buffy, it said so on her script. What? I took her script and sure enough it talked about how the cast of Buffy had come out to the premiere of their new movie Serenity. Nooooo. I immediately called the show's producer and explained that they had it wrong. The show is called Firefly NOT Buffy.

So my coworker then started asking me about Firefly. She really liked the trailer she just saw (right after the whole script misunderstanding) and now wanted to see the movie. She especially liked the part with River kicking butt. I offered to lend her the DVD set and she said yes. I hope she enjoys it.

I had a belated birthday party at home last weekend. Probably about two thirds of the people there had already succumbed to my incessant praising of the show - but there were some there who were yet to see a single episode. So, naturally, once the drink had flowed sufficiently to stem any possible protests, I got my Firefly DVDs out. A captive and rather tipsy audience... the best kind!
