So, the Firefly soundtrack download...

EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Yes, it's rather good. I think everyone should go get it.

It's so fab to listen to the brilliant music again and remember what's happening in the episode in question at the time.

Every time I listen to 'Big Bar Fight' (from The Train Job) I always automatically think "Is Jayne even awake?!" just at the right moment! The Inara suite is gorgeous... as is the now dialogue-less funeral music from The Message. And lots of River pieces too. And... and... more stuff!

Some of the tracks contain multiple and apparently unrelated cues, but someone over on the UB is tracking down which eps they are from. I'll post that info when they do.

My other nickname is Jackal, shortened from Karlos The Jackal, cos of my name, see.

Noone, I repeat, noone, gets to call me "Hil" or "Hils". Er, except that Adam Baldwin called me that at LFACC. I let him get away with it. Just the once mind...

Happy Friday Randomites!!

Okay Crayola,
Here's what I'm gonna have to do. I couldn't find a big enough box to hold everything (plus everything is a bit heavy) so I'm going to send out part of it this week and then the rest in the next week or 2 when I can find another box.

Sound good?

I really wanted to send SOMETHING out today seeing as I also have 2 Jayne hats to mail out. I am going to get so many goodies in return. I like bartering with Jayne hats.

Somebody remind me to stop over at the UB today. I always forget.

Nicknames: Well I never really have any that have anything to do with my name. I was called Rapunzel when I worked at a girl scout camp because I've got long hair. And I've been called Hamlet before, which is a play on my last name and the fact that I oft quote Shakespeare (nasty habit). And Buttons, but that's a long story. Serenity's kind of a hard name to nick, as is my first name, Heather. (I feel as strongly about "Heath" as Hillary does about "Hils") So if anyone wants to give me a nickname, I'd be happy to have one.

If it's a good one.

Was just reading an article on the BBC News site, about how teachers see some children's names on the register and assume they are going to be trouble. They mostly seem to be the sort of awful names chavs give their kids... Coincidence, I'm sure.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/4274318.stm

But anyways, I saw this particular paragraph and laughed out loud!

According to the website, names which get a negative response from teacher include those with hyphens, like Bobbi-Jo, ordinary names with unusual spellings such as Kloe or K'tee, Kristopher, Jayne, Gyaike and Chevaughn, plus the various spellings of Jordon.

What? WHAT?!

Holy sweet sheep. That's crazy.

Gyaike = Jake. Some people out there are seriously fucked up if they think that's a good way of spelling a name. Well, an English name written in English by English speaKing people, anyway.

If you had that inflicted on you, you'd just hate your parents for all time, wouldn't you? How much of a disaster would that make of applying for anything? Of official documentation? Bad, bad, bad.

And I hate it that I worked that out. Just awful.

Wonder whether that will inspire Carol to change the way she spells Chloe's name.

What? I don't get it. What's wrong with the paragraph?

Okay, I can see that the words are jumbled. But it's like dyslexic heaven because that's how I see words sometimes anyway. The letters switch places when I'm reading. It's almost harder to see some of them as being misspelled. Like "because" and "whole" (which I just totally misspelled and had to go back and fix) and "every". Weird weird.

What about you, Sean?
