Sorry if this has been posted before--are there any Nashville, TN area Browncoats out there? Where are y'all gathering for the BDM premiere?

I was just going to post an inquiry too! We've got at least two of us and would welcome meeting up with others.

They should be posting which theaters will carry the movie by tomorrow. I'm really hoping they'll run it on the huge IMAX screen at Opry Mills. We'll keep in touch. Nice to meet you!

My BiL, fellow Browncoat and FFFnet poster, Volstock, JUST moved to Nashville. He's talking about going to see a midnight show. I'll follow this thread and keep him informed as I know they don't yet have their phones and computer square away.

Haven't seen any midnight showings listed yet.

Looks like there might be a gathering at 100 Oaks.

Check the yahoo group site for further info.

Thanks for the link to the yahoo group! I'll keep an eye on the posts and try to link up with you guys when you decide on a place/time. Look for the couple wearing Blue Sun t-shirts (assuming they ship in time!).

The link to the Nashville Browncoats group on Yahoo has already been listed, but I just wanted to say hey and welcome to anyone in the area who wants to join the group. We're relatively new...just started a few months ago, actually. Up to 41 members currently and growing fast. So none of the Mid-TN BC's need to feel alone. :)

Two events coming up related to the movie --

- Since the midnight premiere apparently isn't going to happen , we're going to go see the movie as one big group on Friday night at Opry Mills. Some of the members will be dressed as the cast, myself included. The reason we're doing Opry Mills is that we figure walking around in costume will probably generate more publicity for the movie than just walking around in front of one of the movie theaters in town. We're working on flyers and/or business cards to tell anyone who's genuinely interested about the movie, tv show, and the group. Hopefully we'll come across as eager but not scary. ;)
So, yeah, 7:00 (or 7:15, or whenever the closest show to 7:00 is) at Opry Mills.

- Second, we're having a shindig in Hickory Hollow at the clubhouse of one of the apartment complexes in the area, Nob Hill. Not sure of the address, but it shouldn't be hard to google. We'll probably have some live music, and we'll definitely have food, decorations, and good company. We're asking everyone to bring $5 (to help cover the cost of the clubhouse rental and decorations), plus one food item (chips, sandwiches, veggies, drinks, etc.) for everyone, plus at least one canned food item to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank. None of it is mandatory -- we won't be kicking out any BC's -- but it's requested.
I think people are starting to set up at 2:30 or 3:00 and everything should start around 3:30 or 4:00.

Then I would stick to the flyers. A flyer says "I'm really excited about this, so I threw together this little attention-getter to spark some interest," while a business card says "I'm obsessed with this film." Yes, of course, we are obsessed with this film, but we don't want to people to think that we're too obsessed and get scared off, if you know what I mean. Maybe it's just me, but the flyer seems like a much better way to go. Business cards are associated with someone's job - what they do for a living. While some of us do live for this film to some extent, we don't want to give off the image of being scary, as you said.

Not that we should care what people think of us as individuals, but we should care about what it causes them to think of the movie. And that's the whole point of this - getting them to think positively of our BDM.

Oh yeah, I'm a Nashvillian Browncoat as well. Just joined the yahoo group. I don't know if I'll make it to the shindig, but Opry Mills is the theater we'd probably be going to, anyway.

By the way, I just got my DVDs back from my brother yesterday, so I'm trying to get through the whole set in a week.

I mock you with my monkey pants.
Oh, yeah - check out my rock band:

I just moved from Nashville, though many of my friends (including the guy who got me into Firefly) are back home there. Well, I think he's in Cookeville at the moment.

Anywho, will the better premier be at Opry Mills or Hollywood 27, you think? I'm trying to think where I should suggest my friends go to. KF

So far, it appears that the Browncoats will be making their stand at Opry Mills, working through the mall to pubicize the BDM before showtime.

This would appear to be all conjectural, though, as I just got off the phone with the Opry Mills theatre manager's office, who said they don't get their bookings until Tuesday, which is why we can't buy tickets online yet.

The presumption is that with 27 screens, ONE will be Serenity, but nothing guarenteed yet.

Check the Nashville Browncoats Yahoo group for late developments is probably the best advice.

Sorry, no. Meant to put the date, but forgot. The shindig is the following day, Saturday, October 1.

I'd say definitely Opry Mills. I'm not sure any premiere type stuff will be going on at Hollywood 27. Opry Mills is a better place in general to do any kind of premiere type stuff, since the Hollywood 27 is usually kind of crowded and loud on a Friday night. The people who are there already know what movie they're going to see, whereas the people at the mall...well, they could be fairly easily inspired to go see a movie by the Serenity fans they see.
Plus, the screens and all are nicer at Opry Mills. And there's stuff to do before and after the movie. So there's my recommendation for ya ;)
