It is very rare that I buy comics, I think the last time was also a Dark Horse series of Star Wars years ago.

So how do you tell if a comic is a first printing? I'm pretty sure my #3 Simon cover is a 1st since I bought it today, but the other two (Inara and Book if that matters) were bought long after the opening sale date.

Are first printings of comics as important as first printings of books as far as resale? (not that I intend to sell mine!)

Just a curiosity question.

Ya know, I don't know how to tell which printing one is...but I'd like to know. I lucked out and got all of mine pretty much first day, but it's still a good thing to know.

River: "So we'll integrate non-progressional evolution theory with God's creation of Eden. Eleven inherent metaphoric parallels already there. Eleven. Important number. Prime number. One goes into the house of eleven eleven times, but always comes out one. Noah's ark is a problem."

This has come up before. I thought I knew but I e-mailed Dark Horse to make sure.

They confirmed what I thought. It should be in the indicia.

The indicia is that small writing at the bottom of the inside front cover. If it says nothing about what printing it is, it's a first printing. If it's a second, third, etc., it should say so in the indicia.

That's straight from the (Dark) Horse's mouth.

And yes, first printing is a big deal when it comes to resale, collecting, etc.

I've been checking with my local comic book store and as far as they know the second printings have not yet been made available on any of the three 'Serenity' comics....

I do hope they come out soon, I don't want to loan my copies out, but I want friends to read them...

Evidently the three won't be bound together as a graphic novel until January missing the Christmas shopping...which is too bad).

Thank ye kindly for the answer.

Shiny, I seem to have first printings of all three.

Really? Now I'm really confused, the Dark Horse site mentions 3rd printings for several covers:

Serenity #1 (of 3) (Jones Cover - 3rd Printing)

Serenity #1 (of 3) (Hitch Cover - 3rd Printing)

Serenity #1 (of 3) (Cassaday Cover - 3rd Printing)

The date for these third printings to hit stores was Sept 2.

Is there any news on what the cover art for the GN will be? It would be nice for something that included all nine.

Dark horse comics has only gone to second printing on issue #1 and it hasn't come out yet. Which is why I've got #2 & 3 but not the first one.

...cause Justice is the one thing you should always find.

Here's something odd: I just bought my issue 3's today and took a look at the Mal cover the store had in stock. I noticed that it said "Direct Sales" over the bar code on the cover. My copy says "Dark Horse Presents $4.99 CAN" there. I checked my other covers and they all have either "Direct Sales" or nothing on them. A friend got the Mal for me at a regular bookstore (before the 2nd printing). Any idea what that could mean? Do comic stores and bookstores get different versions (to accomodate Canadian sales)? Does it make a difference?

I just completed my collection this week too. The comic made sure to let me know that the #1 issue was a second printing, although in the fine print it doesn't say that it is 2nd or 3rd printing anywhere. Its the one with mal on the cover.

I'll have to comapre it with my Inara issue #1.

Another local comic shop said that they were going to start charging $10 for the comics. No names , I don't wantto start trouble but I decided to go somewhere else first.
