Hello All.

First off, thanks loads to everyone who got a chance to see Mosquito at DragonCon. The screening before the Sunday Serenity panel totally made my weekend.

So, now that the con’s over, I’ve posted the entire 11 minutes of the ‘Mosquito: Behind the Scenes Preview’ comedic fanfilm up for download. Sorry, there’s only a 92MB Windows Media file on there right now. I’ll get to a QT version later.

Pretty much all of the site has been updated (which may require you to hit your ‘Refresh’ button), including our pics from DragonCon.

If you like what you see (or want to threaten my life for making fun of Fillion) please drop a line to let me know (either here or on the site’s guestbook).

www.mosquitoverse.com

I hope you enjoy, Browncoats. I made this for you.

-Nathan Town

Thank you so much for making this film. I got to see it during the final Serenity panel on Sunday, and I laughed so hard I cried. You all did a wonderful job and the only regret I had was that they didn't wait to show it until after the actors had come out. I wish I could have seen the look on Ron Glass' face when that aired...

I have only watched the first minute (I'm saving it for when I'm a touch more sober) but this is going to be high-larious! I just wanted to thank all those involved in advance. This is the kind of thing that keeps enthusiasm up during the long wait to the movie.

What do you mean you've already seen it?

HI-larious! Now shut up and flip those 3 switches!

I'm going to add cursing and the hurling about of things to my repertoire.

I have some vague idea of how much work this must have taken. Where did you find all your cast members? I'm very impressed by the quality of the film. And the jokes are really good. This one is definitely a keeper. Being a mac user, I look forward to the Quicktime version.

I loved this Nathan!

You and your entire crew did a great job!

It was a lot of fun to see it with 1,000+ Browncoats before the Serenity panel at Dragon*Con. We were all laughing so hard I had to go back and watch it again on the web.

Kevin

P.S. Thanks for posting such a great picture from Dragon*Con of The Signal crew and yourself. I still don't know why I had that look on my face!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Shiny CaptainCal!

I got the chance to see the screening at Dragon Con & LOVED it! We saw it w/ a small group of browncoats who all thought it was great.

I have downloaded it to show to some friends this weekend who couldn't make Dragon Con.

Will there be a full length episode? Was one even made?

This so rocks. It takes mockumentary to a whole new level. If a DVD is ever put together I'll have to own it. Yes to have seen the BDH's faces would have been worth it all.

Absolutely fantastic!

That was really amazing. That was just...awesome. Knowing a little something (and I do mean a LITTLE) about media production I can't even imagine the work that went into this.

Its just so wonderful and well done.

The casting was great! Winter wasn't a stick, Ionna was completely classless, and Chloe pimp slapping Dry, to name a few.

Just...incredible. You and the cast of Mosquito...take a bow.

Hello.

Just to answer some of your questions:

-Mosquito isn’t going to be for sale. A pal of mine wisely said that doing a fan project should be kind of like a community service. Once you’re doing it for any kind of profit, it’s no longer about being a fan. This is Whedon’s sandbox, not mine. I do, however, want to get Mosquito out there on the net and have as many of you watch it as possible, so I’ll get to work having better quality and different format versions up on the website for download. I hope the different versions will solve the problems I know some of you have had.

-Having said that, I did notice that the DragonCon screenings got the fanfilm to exactly the fans it was intended for, and you just can’t beat that theatre-like atmosphere. If (after the premiere) there’s a convention, or Browncoat event that would benefit from a showing Mosquito, drop me a line and I’ll try to get a copy out to you.

-Of course, I don’t want to be burning and mailing these things all day, so if you get one, feel free to burn it for anyone else. Do not sell them. Can’t stress that enough. Oh, one other thing. A select few of the DVDs have a gag reel I made specifically for the Mosquito cast. If you come across a copy of one of these, please don’t show the clip at an official venue. I don’t have the rights to the banjo music, as it was only ever intended for personal use.

-I know some folks had a problem with bits concerning the doctor. Although it is strange how much of a difference it makes, I just want you to know that I would never have even thought of running the gag if the doctor had been a woman, and I’m sorry to anyone who was offended.

-As fun (and hectic) as making this short was, there isn’t going to be a sequel or full episode. This was a one shot tribute by a handful of Big Damn Fans. While it was a hoot to play in Whedon’s sandbox, to do any more would feel kind of be like riding on his coattails.

-Well, that’s it. Thanks so much for your comments. I’ll print them up and show them at our cast party tonight. Keep in touch.

Saw the 10 minute 'documentary' on the making of Mosquito. Certainly had its moments, but looks like the best part was the intro / theme song.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "
