So I'm sitting at home watching the Space Network's "Labour Day Joss-a-thon" and they're showing some Buffy, some and Angel, and ALL of Firefly.

So not only does this get me all excited that I can see Firefly on tv again, especially with those annoying commercials, but no matter. But there's this contest with trivial and I could win one of ten Firefly dvd's. But that's not even the best part.

Serenity previews up the wazoo, space network is advertising Serenity like no tomorrow, so far I've seen two different trailers, one that Space is showing out of their good hearts, and then the regular television one. I'm seeing either one about every other commercial break.

Should you feel the needt to partake in the contest, go here:

http://www.spacecast.com/events/joss_a_thon/index.asp

You'd have to be watching the marathon to be able to get the questions, but they're pretty straight forward answers, I think you should be able to understand them, since they're in order from first to last episode.

Ha! This is great. I didn't even see the questions and I got only 2 out of 14 wrong. You can tell by the answers what the questions were.

Wow. That was weird. Picking answers without knowing the questions, and still getting most of them right. Guess I am a Firefly geek.

Yeah, I was watching and by the time I left the house to come to work, the episode where Inara kisses Mal and falls asleep was playing.

Now that was a funny one.

I saw the trailers for Serenity on the space chanel, but if anybody wants to see 2 very long trailer see you at:

It's worth it.

I'm not too fond of the TV commercial, at least from a 'getting people who aren't already big fans into the theatres' perspective. All you get is a couple generic tough-but-good-guy-sounding phrases, and only one of the funny lines, and a bunch of clips going by so fast it's hard to really get a sense of anything of than 'well, it's SF'.

I know I might be getting some enemies with this comment, but I hate the previews for Serenity. The music makes it seem like a typical action film. Just thinking about it upsets me. I wish they would have made them more dramatic and less....I don’t know... explodey? I’ve only seen the two on Yahoo so maybe the TV ones are better (I don’t watch TV so I wouldn’t know)

I worry if they oversell Serenity people may be turned off. I know I stay away from big boxoffice movies.

Can any of our northern neighbors tell me whether they are showing the Firefly episodes in fullscreen or widescreen? I know that the SciFi channel here in the U.S. is airing them in the fullscreen format and it is more than a little disapointing...especially since the next 3 programs which follow are all in widescreen.

"Serenity" and "The Train Job" are the only episodes run in widescreen... and even then, when they play the edited two-part version of "Serenity," it's fullscreen too. Even though this results in characters delivering dialogue from offscreen or with the right side of their heads chopped off.

There are a few other subtle discrepancies between the DVD and TV versions, like a different take of Tracey's recorded message being used and an alternate "Firefly" logo animation in the opening credits of "Bushwhacked."

They air it fullscreen here.

They also typically air the episodes with all of the 'Previously on Firefly', and the 'The Earth Was Used Up' narrations, and, for Objects in Space, they use the originally aired opening scene (which makes no mention of Inara leaving), rather than the DVD scene (which does)... perhaps it's simply a package deal, and that's the way the episodes are sold to stations.

I was just going to say the same. In Ontario, it's full screen. I like the little interviews with the guest stars.

Oh the trailers are "explodey" on purpose, they are trying to get the low attention span movie goers what are beginnin' to make up a large part of the population. The popularity of Sin City is a prime example.

I agree about that too, I even said that to my brother not 30 minutes ago, but he reassured me with a "well, just wait for the reviews to come in, then people will realize it's more than computer animation, and that, yes, it's a fantastic movie"

But it's better to let the public know about it more than anything I think, at least let them know of its existence.

WHITEFALL

LOL.... I got 13/14 right!

I didn't know the questions, i got so damn lucky. The only one i didnt know was the one with the body parts.... I guessed it was asking where nathan's tatoo was in the nude scene , not that i went and checked tho...

ok, so the answers are... (and how i got them)

Select to view spoiler:

1. strawberry. well, what other fruit is there in firefly?

2.Food stuffs. because.... "this treasure we stole"...."we find it's food".

3.his wife's nephew. well.... at dinner he is getting earful.

4.blue sun. no explanation needed. :)

5.My guess is this has something to do with the food on the tables in bushwacked or something, i went with BREAD and it turned out right.

6.Rain stick. Because wife is too obvious.

7.Bible. My guess this was something about "Whoa, good "

8.Simon's. because this is roughly around jaynestown, and so it wont be jayne. So who else had some character delopment in that ep?

9.St. Lucy's. That's the name of the hospital they break into on/in Ariel.

10.Ear. "I was gonna get me an ear too..." No, really, it was because niska cut off the ear.

11.3. Because i got lucky, and.... river shot 3 guys, there were 3 thugs to greet them when serenity first docks at the skyplex, bosh and cronies made 3, it seemed like a good number.

12.i guessed thigh originally, turns out it's back. So, maybe... tracy lies on his back, people land on their backs, jayne stabs mal in the back, etc... i dunno. Edit: I got it! it must have been 'what part did jayne injure in 'Trash'!

13.a baby. because... Well, in HoG, wash and zoe talk about it, and maybe it was about petalyne's baby.

14.jacks. end of OoG, river and kaylee play jacks.

i'd like to know the questions if anyone else does.

I survived a day in Whitefall and all I got was this lousy signature!

Paraphrased:

5. In "Safe," what food does River steal from Jayne's plate?

7. In "Jaynestown," which possession of Book's does River try to fix?

8. In "Out of Gas," whose birthday is it?

13. In "Heart of Gold," what does Zoe want that Wash doesn't?
