Well, well, well...I just found this...

http://www.ifmagazine.com/feature.asp?article=1326

Alot of people are razzing him in the comments section below. Check it out!

I just thought I'd share this as I find it hilarious (or "HI-larious") that someone can garner how a movie will turn out based solely on a trailer. What a moron this guy is!

And thank God, one can only imagine the hackneyed nature of a show with a gay tagline like “The future is worth fighting for” (gay in the sixth-grade sense of the word, meaning “lame” for the politically correct challenged). I’m getting a strong WING COMMANDER reading on my crap-o-scope here.

While I do have my doubt with the tagline, considering the very way that he writes ("gay in the sixth-grade sense" and "crap-o-scope" for starters), he's taken up too much of our time already. Ignore him, Serenity's too good for him anyways.

Sure beats the hell out of the human race evolving in to a bunch of whiny who are all overly concerned about the feelings of their computer in 300 years time...

I'm actually offended that he was so juvanile and politically incorrect to use "gay" as a negative term. I commented on this fact on that site too.

Bollocks to political correctness. "Gay" didn't originally mean "homosexual", it originally meant, "happy-go-lucky" or "carefree". Then it meant "homosexual". Apparently, it's starting to mean "lame" as well. That don't mean it's a slander on homosexuals, any more than calling them "gay" is a slander on carefree people.

We'll just have to agree to disagree concerning the use of 'gay' being offensive or not. However, do you not agree with me that his word choice laked of professionalism? After reading his review I was tempted to send him a thesaurus to help him create reviews that would be more respectable.

Perhaps someone can clarify something else for me. Is the website that this review is attached to created to review trailers or movies? I was annoyed myself that he decided he disliked Serenity based on the trailer, however, I also got the impression after looking at the site a bit more that he was supposed to base his feelings on just the trailer. (Doesn't seem like a very useful site to me if that is the case.)

You're correct (IMNSDHO) on count one: his word usage made him sound like a semi-drunk fratboy, not a columnist whose words should be taken seriously.

On count two: the column is apparently called "Trailer Trash" and is, indeed, for reviewing trailers only (with an eye to whether they enticed mssr. fratboy into wanting to see the film).

One of the comments noted he shares a last name with one of the editors. Nepotism over actual ability? One wonders.

I found the review so moronic as to be amusing. It kind of reminds me of what Heinlein said about critics: Having no talent, their only qualification is that they are unbiased. They hate all talented people equally.

This "review" wasn't even smart enough to get angry over.

Still...we can spin this critic's words
back in the faces of any reviewer who comes out saying, "too confusing for anyone who wasn't a fan of the series."

We can say, "Oh but another review said many people will find it easier to follow than "Star Trek."

Gotta work those quotes.
That's how movie campaigns always operate, yes? ;-)

Hey, long as it's easier to follow than that Star Trek episode where Chakotay dreamed he was boxing against a starfield wearing a robe.

Seriously, what the hell was that one about?

So what if he didn't like the trailer? The site makes it pretty clear that he's not reviewing the movie. The point is obviously to get cheap laughs by taking the piss rather than a serious review. No need to cause a fuss over it.

Hmmm...so this guy hasn't see the movie, JUST THE TRAILER?
Please.
What say we just ignore people who haven't actually seen the movie?
That'd be a fun game.
By the way, I can follow a Star Trek episode.
In fact, I'm a long time Trekker from the Original series on through TNG, DS9, Voyager and yes, even Enterprise.
And I LOVE me some "Firefly".

As much as I would like him to bow down on his knees to the might of Serenity, he doesn't like it.

Big deal, more for me and not worth my time.

However, I do also think using the term "gay" as derogatory is pretty gross and nasty and I stated so.

Okay, folks. I was one of the first people here to get up in arms over Bryan's use of "gay". I am not going to argue with people over wether it is offensive or not. Words have the ability to be offensive to some and not to others, so it is a pointless argument that I refuse to have.

HOWEVER, Bryan said he was sorry for offening us on his website. We can still be annoyed at his non-browncoat review, but blasting him for something that he already retracted is a waste of time.
