nobody gets to be naughty with Dr.Naughtypants except me...ok, Serenity and TWG can join in too, hey a jolly foursome...degenerating thoughts...NOOOOOO

*slaps wrist*

I don't suppose we are permitted to know anything about XL and Spinland are we? TWG, do you have a name or are you the mysterious enigma of chocolatey goodness.

Anyway, my real reason for posting is Matt: whatever your grades are we love you and you will succeed in life. Like XL I failed my A Levels but now I am beginning my PhD so there is always hope. Just remember you are UBER!!! Even Summer thinks so and she can't be wrong!

AURELIANO

After spending several days counting every penny of my autumn budget, I finally decided to throw caution to the wind and splurged my money on a certain convention in November. Then after a brief but fuzzy encounter in the chatroom, PR was gracious enough to invite me to join the thread. Yay! I'm coming to Serenity²! Can't wait!

*waves wildly*
'ello everyone!
Be gentle!

Welcome AURELIANO!!!

You'll find things around here are a little random at times (GO TEAM RAAANDOOMM!!!) and more than a mite frantic (we go through threads like air goes through a jet engine, only we are hotter) but I'm sure you'll find our corner of the 'verse a fun if crazy place to be.

Just, y'know, keep up. Or be left behind. We have no mercy or compassion. Just lots... and lots... of chocolate.

Of course, this just means it's initiation time! So.... post a short poem featuring both exam results and Jewel Staite in three random threads, and post links to those threads here so we may go and rate your level of poeticalness.

i quite liked Findin Serenity, apart from as you say a few essays. Some of them were far too pompus and all knowing for their own good, but for the most part i loved.

To paraphrase Nathan at Starfury Serenity: A few of the essays were really, really good.... IF YA LIKE EATIN' HORSESH*T!

Most were okay, with some interesting opinions (of their own devising with nothing to do with the supposed true reasons as to why, what or how). A few were, as you said, full of themselves, or filled with impenetrable waffle. But there were a few facinating and/or comical gems too. Well worth the read for them alone.

It's all about the exam results here just now.

Well, that and lickable people covered in chocolate, public relations gimmicks for Serenity, the 'Finding Serenity' book, and some fine poetry.

Also, we're all still pretty high on the various shindigs we've been to.

So far the best I've read have been the Ghosts of serenity stuff by Archer and AMBDOBELL's stuff. For some of AMDOBELL you have to get past the rather graphic slash stuff at the beginning but if you can see past that the stories are really good.

Hi Aureliano! (I'm 5 hrs behind as usual.) That poem was brilliant! Some of the best initiation work I've seen.

And I also very much enjoyed your 10 word life story. Dunno if I could tell mine in 10 words. Will think about that...

PR- *hugs* Sorry dear. I'm sure it's not nearly so bad as you think.

I agree with Rel and those who said that everyone should read "Finding Serenity". It's worth reading; even if you don't agree with what some of the people write about, there's alot of interesting stuff in there; some very funny stuff; and it gets you thinking. Plus, you can learn how to swear in chinese. Can't beat that.

Welcome back Pog! I read the first chapter of Kaylee's Lament. I also read all of SoulofSerenity's Destiny and Venengence (which he hasn't finished yet, wish he'd hurry up.) Thought those were good.

Everybody else: I bought a red chinese dress last night! Red with gold dragons. Can't wait to wear it to the Dragon*Con shindig.

You should get reading all of Kaylee's Lament, CMS. It's far gone from it's original topic by now, into the depths of a cunning caper and some superb characterisation. Also, it's real funny.

I just had the scared out of me.

I'm here all alone, all the doors are locked. It's 8:30am and it's dark and cloudy out. Foggy. Very atmospheric. I hear this sound, kind of like someone's trying to get in the door. So, I go investigate. There's no one there. I go back to my office, but I hear it again. So I get up again, there's no one there.

Then the sound starts a 3rd time. Louder. Definitely a scratching, metallic sound, and it's coming from the door. (Our doors are metal.) Now I'm a bit nervous. What is going on? So I go all the way up to the door. I peer outside. I can't see any cars except mine in the lot, there are no people around. I listen, and I hear the sound again. And it's coming from right by where I'm standing.

Then, suddenly, there's movement right at the bottom of the door. It startles me, I take a step back, and a squirrel comes running out from behind the bush next to the door. The stupid thing must have been scratching at the bottom of the door this whole time! I open the door and it goes running away. Stupid squirrel.
