ECLIPTIC

I have recently seen the whole show. Before I even heard that SciFi was starting to air it, I downloaded episodes. Well even after seeing every episode, I went out today and bought the DVD set. This is ranked at my favorite show with Battlestar Galactica. This is currently the only TV show I have ever bought DVD of. Battlestar Galactica will be my second this September. Even while owning the DVD set, I still plan to continue watching the show on SciFi. :)

I can't wait for the movie but I have a few worries about it. One that it doesn't meet up to the show's standards. There is sound in space during the trailer.

Anyway I plan to show the show to my cousin and friend. My brother is as much hooked on the show as I am.

well, alot of people have already seen this movie, including me, and i can say you can put your worries to rest. this movie does indeed live up to the show's standards, and makes it bigger and more epic for the big screen. there is also only sound in space because that was the trailer. in the movie, space is silent.

Welcome!

I, too, rarely buy tv shows on dvd (just FF, Buffy and Angel), but I now own 5 copies of the FF dvd set! I know it might sound crazy, but it's not. When you find a show this amazing, you want to share it with others, right?

I always have a set at home to watch myself, but the other 4 are usually on loan to 'future Browncoats'. I have converted my parents, several friends and several coworkers so far. A lot of fans on this site have also organised 'viewing parties' to get all their friends to watch the show. It sounds like you are already well on your way to converting friends and family, too. Good work!

!!WARNING!! POSSIBLE, VERY, VERY MINOR SPOILER!!
(The next paragraph does not give away any plot points at all, but I do briefly discuss my impression of the 'feel' of the movie. I don't consider it spoilery at all, but you have been warned...)

I, too, have seen the movie and I thought it was amazing! I think it has a slightly different feel than the show, but that is to be expected. IMO, it is bigger, a little flashier, more epic in scope. And it is telling this 'epic' tale in only two hours, so it is pretty much non-stop action. All the beloved characters are present and true, along with Joss' typical humor and drama. I loved it!

Anyway, welcome to the fandom and to FFF.net! I think you will find it full of friendly, interesting, enthusiastic people. Also, Haken (the guy who created and runs this fantastic site) is developing a site for BSG fans, too. frakingalactica.net Check it out!

See you around!

Stillshiny, you always have the best quotes. I love the broken time rock people one!

Hi ecliptic. Welcome aboard! I saw the movie, too and I echo the "You will not be disappointed." It was like a 2 hr rollercoaster ride. Intense. Incredible. See it 4 times!!

ARCH

hey all,

I had questions to ask but i didn't want to start a new thread just for the questions. And since i'm also new to firefly, I thought here would work.

I never caught the show on tv, but after watching the trailer for serenity about a week ago, I decided to download the episodes. I've only seen up to episode 7 but I already love the show (I'm buying the dvds as soon as possible ). My question is:

has anyone heard about the possibility of the show being brought back on tv if the movie does well? Has Joss expressed any interest in bringing the show back?

Hopefully the sci-fi channel could pick it up if there's nothing in opposition. It's such a shame for a good show to be cancelled like this one was. Especially when there's all these mediocre shows that keep coming back.

See I have never been a Joss fan. I don't like Buffy nor do I like Angel. He does excellent scifi though.

I am hoping Universal will make a Serenity TV show. We all know Fox are a bunch of idiots.

The TV show isn't going to happen in any near future. Their current goal is at least 2 sequels. If that doesn't happen, we'll see. We'll definately see the world expand through comics and I'd love to see some spinoff novels, but I just don't know if Joss even wants to return to tv just yet. After seeing the movie though, you might realize that TV isn't as likely an option as we'd like. Our little firefly is all grown up, and you're not gonna see them coming back home to the small screen very smoothly. The stakes have just been raised too high. One day, we may see a triumphant return to tv, but for now, lets just enjoy our beautiful movie.

I also am fairly new to the happy Firefly family. It is a wonder show and I know it will be an absolutley fab movie! Ever since I saw the first episode I have been sharing my joy with every one I know. There is not a single person that I have shown it to that did not love it! Just doing my part to make the world a better place!

IMLOCO2

Hi! I'm new too. I'm actually a huge Farscape fan who has recently..like within the last few weeks, been feeling that little tingle you get when you like a show a little too much, whenever I watch Firefly. And I've only seen a few episodes of the show. I've been trying to get into SG1 because my guy Ben Browder is on it, but it's boring the pants off me.

Firefly however seems to have that creative spark, the imagination and the heart that I've been looking for since Farscape was cancelled. Plus, the drama is over and I can just sit back and enjoy it without having to agonize over what's going to happen to it. (I'm a bit disillusioned to say the least) I'm really looking forward to the coming eps. I need to check out places to buy the dvd's so I can get up to speed faster. And I'm surfing websites to get a feel for the fandom and where the best place to park my boots might be.

This place looks pretty nice.

Actually the Farscape board I'm associated with seems to have a contingent of browncoats working to enlist new recruits.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site Ecliptic, glad to have you with us.

I watch Firefly on Sci Fi Friday nights each week too, even though I have the DVD set & have seen each episode at least twenty times. Firefly is one of those rare shows that you can watch over & over again and never get tired of.

Of course you know you are obligated to go out and introduce the show to as many friends, family & co-workers as you can get to watch it. The more the merrier!

Welcome imloco2!
I recently (end of last year right before the special conclusion was aired on Sci-fi) became a fan of 'Farscape', and I feel that the two fandoms have a lot in common.
Both the 'Firefly' crew and the 'Farscape' heros are the out-siders and rejects flying under the radar in a hostile universe (and both knew how to do the humor, something sorely lacking on 'Enterprise')
I'm happy that you've found the show, and I hope you'll read the comics, and watch the BDM too!
