This is a continuation from an earlier thread, but if you haven't responded to that one, we want to know what you think! (It's also cross posted on the U boards.)

Currently, there are no midnight shows scheduled that I have been able to find. However, I'm more than happy to orchestrate plans to try and get one set up somewhere if that's what people want. But, if they want to go opening night in any case, there's no point in stressing it.

The current theatre of choice is Harkins Bricktown because of it's central location in the state, and because it has the super big screen with the fancy speakers behind it for our wonderful special effects from Zoic and the new music.

Since we're Browncoats, we'll take this decision to the people.

So, Okies, what do you want?

I would love to see a midnight showing (so I can go back the next night lol) however why don't we take all our energy and make the opening night a huge sucess.

I'm liking the Bricktown idea. Opening night. I'm sure we can find a great place to hang out afterwards.

Wonder, if there's a big enough group if we get any media coverage? I got a friend who used to work at the WB.

Yeah? That'd be nifty. NPR announces community events, if we wanted to go to the trouble of writing up a press release we might be able to get it on their calendar of events and see about adding it to the Gazette too. I don't know Tulsa papers or anything, but those are both metro area outlets?

Okay, I had a brainstorm last night. Most people seem to be leaning towards opening night/afternoon. And this is good because we know it'll be showing. And, as WarKnight and ThatWeirdGirl have noted, opening nights tend to get more press. How about this?

Folks who want to go to an earlier afternoon showing can all get together (I'll probably be in this bunch) and meet at the theatre at the specified time. Then, after the BDM, we go to get a late lunch (the BBQ place, wherever's nearby that we pick in advance). That way, people who're going to come to the movie after work can meet up with us there and hang out before they go see it, and then go on into the theatre for the second round of movies. Who knows, some of you might want to go to both shows.

The way I see it, this gives us the get together time, but lets people who need earlier or later showtimes go to either one or both.

How's that sound?

Hiya everybody. We've had a suggestion on the U board to try and organize a state wide comic book shop promo day. If anybody else is interested, go ahead and hop over there for discussion on that thread.

Former Okie here. Just moved to Kansas. I've yet to meet any other Browncoats in person and would love to attend anything that was arranged afternoon or evening.

Do you want to come back down for something? Or are you looking for more Kansas folks to do something with up there?

45 Days! Woo!

I've gotten an initial reply from Universal about support materials for the comic book store idea. I'll see what they get back to me with later on. Again, anyone who's interested in participating with their local shop or just throwing out ideas, check the other thread.

Red River Rebels!

That's us!

I should have the points to form our crew in the next day or so. Anybody else want an invite from me once I get it set up?

StillShiny and I are working up a logo, and I'm starting a yahoo group to help with event planning and the like. Even if you aren't on the crew (ThatWeirdGirl let's say ) you can still be in the yahoo group. Let me know where to send an invite either through this list or StillShiny.

I am interested in doing something in Kansas or in Oklahoma. I travel a lot between the two places. Are there some Wichita Browncoats somewhere?

I haven't met any, though I'm sure they're out there. I know a couple in Kansas City? They may or may not be coming down here for the big night, too.

You might scan the posts on the boards? And/or make one yourself to see?

We'd love to have you come with us if you're going to be down here though!

I'll contact Starbase 21 here in Tulsa that's where I got my Serenity comics. I should be able to do something the day the comics come out. If all is successful there. We might be able to turn around & do the same right before the BDM is launched. I know Starbase 21 also focuses alot on the RPG's, so a demo of the RPG would be all manner of shiny. I'm not sure if I can get off work early that day or not, I'll have to see.

Just a side note, if the response at Starbase is positive that may help in the influence of getting some of the BDH's here to Tulsa for Trek Expo next year.

Anybody? Even if it's not an idea you'd actually be able to do, someone might. What kinds of promos would you have liked to have seen for other movies that would go along with this one? Anybody else want to try and do marathons? Something like that?

The Starbase 21 con is really good, and they typically get great guests to come on down for it. You're right about the idea for getting them on board, it'd be great to have our BDHs come down here to hang out with us.

As for Trek Expo . The Starbase 21 Con.

I have a friend who used to work for WB that got me into help help work the WB's table last year. I missed working the table with Mercedes (Harmony) because I had church that morning. Which seems weirdly ironic or just funny. Anyway.

Okay, I move that we shift a lot of this discussion to the yahoo group? I think it'll be easier to manage the planning, and everyone will be able to get the information without worrying about losing the thread. You can either get digests, check the messages just like the boards here, or get individual emails of the messages sent to the group, so it's really dynamic.

Again, to add onto that list, just email:

redriverrebels-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

You should get a confirmation email about joining, and then I'll be able to approve you and add you to the group. You don't need to put anything special in the email, I just tested it out. If you want to have me add you by sending you an invitation, email:

redriverrebels-owner@yahoogroups.com

and give me your email address there and I'll send you an invite. Please tell me your login here so that I know that I've got the same person!

Does that make sense to everybody?
