Calling all Browncoats!!!

Last Friday, the first half of the pilot episode Serenity aired on SciFi channel in the U.S. This coming Friday, they will re-air the first half at 6:00pm (5:00 central) followed by the second half. For all those who ever cursed Fox for airing the series out of order, here's an opportunity to bring more browncoats into the fold with the whole story told in the right order. Plus, a brand new trailer will also debut during the airing of the 2nd half of the pilot! As reported on the UB:

Quote:

"New Serenity Trailer to Debut on SciFi
Tune in to SciFi this Friday night to see the world premiere of the brand new Serenity trailer! The final domestic trailer for Serenity will premiere on the SciFi channel, Friday, July 29th between 7:45-8PM EST during the airing of "Serenity Part 2". It will have its Internet premiere shortly thereafter (more details to come) and will be in theaters in August.

Yes, get the word out for those that need to be told.

And Universal is doing their part. I just saw a large flash ad on IMDB for the new Serenity trailer airing during Friday. This ad will grab people's attentions.

But I don't believe this is the last chance to recruit people before the movie.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Shiny! Did you save a copy or get a screenshot you can share?

just go to IMDb.com and punch in "firefly" or "serenity," click on the listing and voilà! nice banner ad at the top of the page.

and if you're too lazy to type:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0303461/ or
http://imdb.com/title/tt0379786/

;)

It won't let me save because it is a flash ad plus a screenshot won't work since it moves. You'll have to go to the site to see it.

If you use Firefox, it's easy to save embedded flash objects. Just go to the Tools menu, choose 'Page Info' and then the Media tab. It will list all the objects on the page, and give the properties of each object when highlighted. You can then just scroll down the list until you find what you're looking for, click 'Save As' and presto!

Then, if you're clever at reading html, you can view the page source, and figure out the code to put it on your own web page, like so:

http://www.greek2me.com/

(Probably best to upload your own copy to your own webhost, as leeching an advertisement may attract lawyers.)

ETA: The flash banner itself is at: http://www.greek2me.com/serenity_trailer_banner.swf

So this is a completely different version to the international one - a third trailer?

I didn't even know there was going to be another one! Yey!

Yea but the SCIFI Channel royaly screwed the pooch on this one. 6pm is an even worse time slot than the original fox timeslot. Good grief. Most people are in traffic at 6pm cst. what are they thinking!!! This is insane. A show this phenominal needs to be on at 8pm cst on a tuesday night when all the world is watching!

Also of interesting note, if you view any of the actors from Serenity/Firefly and even Nathan's new movie Slither, you'll see the banner as well. I'd never noticed that IMDB attaches specific banners to individual titles or artists. Shiny!

People keep getting the wrong idea about Sci-Fi showing their run on a friday night. Sure the time is not perfect (because of digitial cable format screws up the schedule etc) but Friday night is Sci-Fi channels biggest night. BSG, Stargate sg-1 and atlantis are all on right after Firefly.

Well it should be more so that you should get people to watch Firefly in any way possible. Watching it on Sci-fi doesn't do much, considering unless these people have nielsen boxes, no one knows they are watching.

It would be much better to get people you know to buy the box set. It's more money + they can see people are interested. And the quality of the picture is better :)

Not everyone is successful in getting their friends and colleagues to buy the DVD Box Set sight-unseen. Getting them to watch it for free on SciFi will convince them to buy the box set if they get hooked, as we know most of them will!

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

Well, 7:00 isn't terrible (6:00 is only for the repeat of the first half)...unless you're on the west coast, where (at least on my satellite provider) it's being broadcast at 3/4:00. People out here work just like people in the rest of the country (and we don't get out early on Fridays in the summerlike some people in NYC do!).

Well, showing on SciFi has gotten you at least one new fan!! I don't like network TV so I don't have Fox on my satellite. I saw the first hour on Fox and talked to a friend who had all the videos. I am not hooked!!

I am waiting for the movie but I want MORE!

I hope that was a typo!

Welcome, Paula! The DVDs are really the best way to watch Firefly, in all its wide-screen, high-def glory! Best Buy and Amazon carry them. We're all looking forward to the movie, and working hard to recruit more browncoats to make sure the big damn movie is a huge boxoffice success so we can get some big damn sequels!!!

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.
