I have been watching the SciFi channel since approx 5:00 this afternoon looking for trailers for Firefly. From 5:00 until after 7:00 p.m. all I saw was trailers for "the best show on TV", Battlestar Gallatica. Then SG1 and SG1 Atlantis.

Even FOX began trailers WEEKS before it began, I KNOW because I was there!

BG and SG1 reminds me of the Love Boat, hauling out all these OLD actors. Mind you, I am old myself, otherwise, how would I know those peeps have been around forever.

Anyway, I tried getting into SG1 last year and got really tired of all those snakey things going in and out of humans. UGH!

As for BG, I must confess I have never watched and therefore expect I will be flamed for criticizing something I have never seen. However, these shows are pale in comparison to Firefly! The thing I love so much about Firefly is the lack of all those ALIENS! Whedons idea of the universe is so fresh, unique and absolutely appealing compared to all of the same old crap mentioned above.

So far all the "inside" comments are about how HOT all the men are in these shows and how HOT all of the women are, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

Puleeese! Firefly does not have to resort to sex to sell itself! It stands on its own Gorram merit. Those other shows make me want to

Finally, at 7:05 p.m., a trailer for Firefly comes on and I say OH MY GOD! It's about gorram time. I was beginning to think SciFi channel was treating Firefly like the red-headed step-child. BG best show on TV? NOT!

Okay you can bash me now but for the moment I've said my piece. When it comes to Firefly, I admit I am EXTREME!

Well, I think the difference in this case is that BG is running new episodes, is a Sci-Fi Channel Original, and has been getting a lot of praise lately in the media. (And rightly so - it's very good.) Firefly will be reruns of a show that is three years old, and has been on DVD for two years.

I think it's great that they are showing it at all, especially since the main purpose for it's airing on Sci-Fi is to promote Serenity.

As far as the sex thing goes - I agree that Firefly does not have to resort to sex to sell itself. However, the show did feature a beautiful prostitute who had sex with a different person almost every week, including one girl-on-girl sex scene, and also featured Kaylee having sex and Mal completely naked. So all things are relative!

And Mal and Nandi in Heart of Gold, which was a pretty steamy sex scene.

And naked River in the box in the pilot...

Damn, this show was practically porn!

Allright, I'll admit that I can be irrational when it comes to Firefly and that makes me overlook valid points. However, the very example you made about those shows being SciFi originals is exactly what I am talking about and the main purpose for it's airing on Sci-Fi is to promote Serenity. Simply because THEY ARE SciFi originals, they are getting all the hoopla and Firefly is taking second stage. This makes me nauseous considering Firefly is the best damn show to hit the tiny screen in the last twenty years.

"Firefly will be reruns of a show that is three years old, and has been on DVD for two years." Speaks volumes in and of itself.

I saw your thread and apparently we both saw the trailer at the same time. LOL As for me, the trailer was too damn short!

We certainly agree there - Sci-Fi should have picked up Firefly as a series when it was first cancelled, and we'd be in our third or fourth season by now.

Although, I have seen Serenity, and believe me, it was worth the wait!!

That is exactly why I am not too pleased with the SciFi channel. Why didn't they recognize the potential of Firefly in the first place? Argh, I know, sour grapes!

"I have seen Serenity." Wish I could say the same although I must admit that I am not in a hurry to say goodbye to characters that I dearly love.

Okay, okay, I give up, you win! But actually, my comments about all the HOT men and women was referring to the "Inside SG1, SG1-A and BG" that came on at 6:00. The HOT remarks were made numerous times. So what if all those peeps are sexy. They still don't hold a candle to our beloved Firefly characters. DO THEY?

I don't believe ANYONE can beat Mal's butt! DO YOU?

Sci-Fi couldn't pick up Firefly. It didn't have the money. It had just sank a lot of money into BSG and SG:A. And Firefly isn't taking a back seat as a rider on the Sci-Fi Friday line up. It's being included in the most powerful science fiction television line-up on the face of the planet. Massive exposure. And while the trailer was a little short, it was miles better than the one Fox aired so long ago. No mention of girls in boxes. Amd any 'Scapers out there will be thoroughly pleased to see Ben Browder and Claudia Black working again (together no less!). And, really, why is a four hour block of hot sci-fi chicks a bad thing? I can watch TV on Friday nights again now. So calm down. Be glad Sci-Fi and Universal were able to finally wrest the show at all from the hands of Fox for TV. And wouldn't you rather be able to see it on the Big Damn Screen? We'd never have Big Damn Movie if Sci-Fi had picked it up as a series.
