Firefly groups that are lacking, should we help them?

I am brand new to fff.net, so please excuse me if this has already been addressed.....
Anyway, my friend just invited me to join her in a website-thing called Hi5. I'm not sure what you call it. She is single, so it is probably a place to meet friends (but there are married people there, so it is not a dating service, anyway.....) I really don't mess around on the internet very much, a lot of that is due to the fact that my hubby, Stillshiny, hogs the computer!! (sorry, Dear)
Anyway.... there are three Firefly groups, and their message boards are sad! (if any of you are members of those groups, don't mean to offend YOU)
Sad, sad sad!!!! I posted something on each of them to try and stir something up, and after a couple days, well, it didn't really do anything. It did get one other person to post and say something about how quiet it was there lately. SAD!
Do I keep talking to myself out there?
Also..... have any of you seen other similarly-sad Firefly groups out there? Or did I just find a fluke?
Oh, and, by the way, all named "Firefly". Very origional. At least they had different discriptions. One was for people who used to be in the chat rooms of the origional firefly site that was shut down.(?) BTW: There are two people there and mine was the only posting on the board.
One was for fans of the Joss show that was cancelled, one was for fans of Firefly and the thankfully upcomming movie, Serenity.
Wow, I rambled, but all of it disturbs me a bit. But I don't know if that is the norm for Firefly groups in similar websites and if I should try to help them or point them in this direction.
What do YOU think?

No, it's shiny! I like to meet new people; they've all got stories.

I think some folk shy away from the larger boards cuz they think they won't be able to click with the group. Which I have experienced on some larger boards for LOST & a few band sites. But not the case here. Granted the smaller boards can be more close knit, but most often they can be more cliqueish & solitary. Much the same thing happened when we tried to put together a Firefly Meetup group in Tulsa. But maybe it's time for that to change.

ZOOT

Yeah, I lurked for a good long while here before I began to contribute because I thought people would see me as a newbie and think I was butting in - but 'course t'ain't like that at all (mostly) ....

I like the large boards becasue you get people logging in at all different times from all over the freaking world ...

Reckon the smaller boards are about comfort and such, liek a small group of friends - if they don't think they need help - they probably like it that way, then I think we should just let them do their thing and we'll do ours ...
