Aw, they're a nice sort of folk! Trust me when I met Nathan and Adam last year I was definately tongue tied! It was all I could do to stand there WITHOUT my mouth hanging open! You'll be fine!

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but: how? Mutant Enemy is no more, I hear. Are you sending it care of Universal?

That's not a stupid question at all Vixy, because danged if I know. I figured I'd Google around for a good addy - probably at Universal - but I also expect to meet him at Dragon*Con, so I can just hand it over. If he's not there for some reason, I'll give it to Nathan - he's an affable sort - I can do the same with yours if you like.

Now we're finishing this deal, and then maybe we'll come back for those morons who got themselves caught. You can't change that by getting all... bendy...

Actually, Mutant Enemy was closed by Whedon about a year ago because Whedon does not have any plans to continue in TV for the next 10 years (which is when his contract with 20th Century Fox will end).

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Vixy -
I've decided that since I plan on creating more songs about the BDH's (I have one written about Jayne's hat that I'll record soon, plus an idea for a Kaylee song) that I'm going to put together a CD to hand directly to Joss and the gang right there at Dragon*Con - that way I know they get it, plus it gives me an excuse to talk to them.

I'd love to include your song on there - I have the call out to anyone who's made recordings of songs inspired by the show/movie/BDHs so we can put it all on one big Browncoats tribute album. Let me know if I can put yours on there, of if you's prefer to keep it separate.

Now we're finishing this deal, and then maybe we'll come back for those morons who got themselves caught. You can't change that by getting all... bendy...

I'd love to have you include it. I assume you'll have a list of names and titles on there so Joss knows who wrote what. Credit is all I ask.

I *might* end up with a better recording of it after July 15 weekend, if someone records my performance at Confluence and if I do the song decently well. :) How soon are you putting together this CD?

You can email me privately if you want and we can talk about it further.

Your *song* is wonderfull! After we found a link to this on the OB, the original browncoat in my house (my mom) and I listened to the song three times running!

Oh, and I hope to have a better recording of it on our next CD. (Yeah... I even have fantasies of sending it to Joss. I'm too chicken, though.)

On the OB, Chris Buchanan replies to his messages. May I send him a link to the song and ask him to pass it on to Joss?

Oh wow! Yes! *jitter*

I believe there are two Chris Buchanans-- I wonder if he's the one who came to the Portland, Oregon screening on May 26? (The one who's listed as Christopher in the credits.)

...what *is* the OB, anyway?

Message on the way…

The only one I know about is our AffableChap aka Chris Buchanan, president of the late Mutant Enemy. I believe he was at one of the screenings (don’t know which) and he keeps flying with the rest of us browncoats

It’s the first official firefly board, back when the show still aired… hence the name “Official Board”, or OB. The URL is: < http://forums.prospero.com/foxfirefly>. I generally hang there (also as Horovits).

Chris was at the June 23rd showing in Charlotte, I believe he was given the banner to give to Joss.

He does also peruse these boards as well as the OB. One of the things he did at the preview was give a "shout out" to posters on this board who had participated in the Charlotte Preview thread.

I know I squealed and was in a daze for a bit after that

I’ve got to report failure, I’m afraid. It’s been more than a month since my message to Chris and he’s still not seen it; I think he’s not been on the OB for some time (hopefully, he’s been too busy).

Then again, I’m listening to your interview on “The Signal” right now (I’ve been off music for three weeks now; glad that’s over), so I see you’re getting some well-deserved exposure.

That said, my mom has suggested changing the last line to “… still got my crew and my Firefly,” but she gets meddlesome at times.

Vixy, is there any chance you might accept a private (i.e., donation-funded) gig in Ballard? My friend Harry puts on shows in his converted-garage apartment venue.

Anyway to find this song? I caught it on youtube and would love it on my iPod. That and a few other songs, but seems no one knows about the instrumental 'Browncoats Rising' nor the 'Mal's Song' that is the long version of the soundtrack. Anywho, this one would be shiny if someone could get it to me by either dropping the link or messaging me on my profile.

Your Indian Pirate Lord,
Ash

EDIT: and from reading the posts, has anyone sent it to Joss? If he's anything like me, he'd tear up when he heard this.

For those as may need it told ,

'Browncoats Rising' is a special composition

created by Austin Wintory , an award-winning film

and entertainment media composer . Austin is a

Browncoat and true Firefly fan . He created

'Browncoats Rising' at the suggestion of the

Independent Spaceborne Forces , and it was played

in special tribute to 'Swanny' , or

Steve Swanson , the first Browncoat Astronaut ,

the man who shuttled the Firefly and Serenity

discs to the International Space Station .

But , it's a composition for ALL OF US , so

please enjoy 'Browncoats Rising' at

Austin Wintory's website !

There's a special page

where you can go and click the highlighted link

to hear 'Browncoats Rising'.

If you enjoy it ,

please send Mr. Wintory an email and let him know

that you like it ! This is strictly a

non-commercial , spare-time effort by Austin ,

but if you'd enjoy an MP-3 snippet of 'ringtone'

length , please let him know that as well !

We Browncoats are privileged to have a man of

such Shiny talent on our side !

This song is wonderful.

Ordinarily I don't plug merchandise, but I went to a mini-con recently and listened to a group called Bedlam Bards.

One of the Bards is a big-time Browncoat and has made his own compilation CD of filk of Firefly called On the Drift.

Four stars.
go to Bedlambards.com for a listen.

They have the Hero of Canton and also a filk of it called the Ballad of Joss.
