hello gang,
a brand new convert here. Just wanted to say hello. I am a member of the "CarnivaleHBO" board on Yahoo and for one post, I asked what everyone's other favorite tv show was that got cancelled before its time (because, you know, Carnivale got cancelled. Grrr!) At least 6 other people said "Firefly" so I got curious. I asked a co-worker if I could borrow her dvd box set (she is a rabid fan and had talked about how good it was before) so she lent it to me and like that-
BAM!
I'm a convert. Oh my god, what an INCREDIBLE series! From the writing to the characters to the music to the special effects... what the HELL was Fox thinking in cancelling it? (or rather NOT thinking!) I've already done my part in spreading the gospel. I've shown my roommate and my b/f the pilot and will soon be showing them all the other episodes too. Got to 'fatten the ranks', right? I bought the book last night "Finding Serenity" and am very excited about the movie. I hope there are Firefly/Serenity cons in the works as I'd really like to meet the cast members and Joss to personally thank them for this show. Well, that's it for now. As I said, just wanted to say hello to you all and I look forward to future friendships.

I'll tell you up front: The main reason I ask is to tease the girls on the board. I've been teasing Simon fangirls for years about how effeminate he is; that he's more likely to make a pass at Jayne than at Kaylee.

No offense intended. I could personally give a rat's about other people's sexual orientation. A person has either got something intelligent to say, or not. Race, creed, gender and/or sexual preference has got nothing to do with that. I concentrate on the qualities of a person's heart and mind...

Welcome BHTBT!! (and making your screen-name into an acronym makes you sound like an illegal drug!) Pull up a chair and stay awhile.

More than a few of us are/were Carnivale fans also, and I was NOT happy when the show was "not picked up for renewal".

As far as being sly, I think the biggest (if any) reaction you'll find is folks making a big deal of how it's not a big deal. You love the show, so you're a Browncoat, pure and simple. And there are several cons in the works, so if you can travel, you stand a good chance of meeting some of the Big Damn Heroes in person.

Thanks to all who have welcomed me. It's so nice to find another web-family. (I think I'll coin the term "WEBFAM" for this and trademark it! Everytime someone uses it, they owe me a dollar! LOL) I'm so upset. The girl at work who lent me her box set just told me this morning that she and her husband have obtained tickets for the preview show in Las Vegas! GRRRRRR!!
